What are some other games where the original fanbase is completely marginalized and taken over by a new one that has no appreciation for the original?

feelsbadman. I truly despise the retarded direction Itsuno steered the series in.
He based Dante's character off one cutscene, also I hate Reuben's voice.
Have some of my energy brothers.
Kamiya come back pls.
Langdon is overrated.
Persona
For video game: Sonic the Hedgehog. But I also find the Transformers fanbase is also in a similar and just as fucked up state.
SMT/persona
Fuck off. The original is pure garbage.
3, 4, and 5 are the only DMC games that anyone needs to play. Kamiya is a hack who could never create anything as nuanced or complicated as DMC combat.
elaborate, I've never played any entry of the series but obviously it's impossible to escape from hearing about it.
Warcraft. Some people hated Warcraft 3 due to retcons and when WoW came out people I knew always assumed the previous games were MMOs too
The dark souls games went to shit when dark souls 1 got ported to pc.
Pokemon went to shit when autists started playing it competitively. Same with smash bros.
I liked DMC 3, 4 and 5 more than 1, but 1 is still great.
Oh please, you faggots complain constantly.
This. The first game is still pretty good. Honestly, all of these arguments over the games are retarded when most of them are really good.
That's not necessarily true. Even though DMC3 is my favorite game of all time, I have a lot of respect for DMC1. It's my second favorite in the series.
I don't hate it, I appreciate it for starting the series, it's just that a large portion of its fanbase is meleefag-tier insufferable.
Demon's Souls
DMC1 is so great. I love the clunky controls and horrednous voice acting, and that swimming level was the highlight of the game! It definitely hasn't aged like milk!
>The dark souls games went to shit when dark souls 1 got ported to pc.
>Pokemon went to shit when autists started playing it competitively.
Why do you retards alway talk in an educated manner about games you didn't even play?
>clunky
>aged
1 still has the best level design but everything else about it is horribly outdated, and even when it came out I don’t think there were enough different moves to justify the existence of the style system.
>Nier/Yoko Taro games
>Demon Souls/Dark Souls
>Yakuza
>Danganronpa
Countless japanese game series, from high profile like Tales of to bottom of the barrel Neptunia, Pretty much anything that has a loyal following and ends up on Steam gets shredded into pieces. Then they start pandering to the new fanbase and the series turns into shit.
>clunky
I played through the HD collection a while back and it still felt pretty good to play.
Street Fighter, World of Warcraft (kind of), Dark Souls...
Nina Gaiden Black blows the entire series out of the water.
Fallout
Fate/Stay Night
Skyrim
My first attempt at this game was just pitiful. It was only a couple years ago, going back to the series with the Collection after only playing God Hand & Platinum titles (and a bit of the GoW trilogy) beforehand. I went into DMC1 with completely skewed expectations given I only knew it was the progenitor of the games I had played, and of course that lead to thinking the game was slow and dying many times to bosses and Death Scissors. I ended up dropping it around Mission 15 before moving on to 3.
I recently did a quick session of it after being more seasoned with the series and just better at action games in general. New game, and I'm really feeling it more. Level design is connected without being confusing, there's a good amount of variety in the locations while feeling consistent to one abandoned island, and the quality of the enemy & boss design really stands out. Phantom, first try, Shadow, first try, Nelo 1, first try, Death Scissors, second try (these aren't brags but showing that I've gotten to a baseline of decent since I died many times to these guys my first time, especially Death Scissors). I think I'm going to enjoy my 2nd attempt at it a lot, although at heart I prefer having a lot of options and tools so I think 5 will remain my favorite in the series.
Oh fuck off. I agree that NG Black has the best level design in the genre, well-designed mechanics, high quality enemy design, no bad bosses, etc. but DMC1 & 5 have enemy design on the same level AND better bosses, while NG Black is kind of bland when you're not in gameplay because everybody but Ryu is fucking bland and there's not many memorable songs. Also outside of less unlockables and a worse UI Sigma is an upgrade from Black.
I don't go into threads for action games and talk about how W101 shits on all of them just because it's my favorite game, I don't see why some people have the need to do shit like this.
>1 still has the best level design but everything else about it is horribly outdated
The way I equate my love for the original DMC has a to do a lot with how much I like regular arcade games. Like for example, I like to play ghosts n goblins a lot time to time just to get as far as I can in the day and I eventually get further and further. Same deal with the og DMC, I play Hard/DMD New Game and practice different strategies, seeing how far I get each time and striving for that perfect S rank playthrough one day. You're framing the combat system all wrong in your mind. There doesn't need to be this sandbox of moves that are there just to cycle through on the enemy just because that's what came after. You learn the sword cancelling technique too and any real "clunkiness" melts away. So you know, git gud because this game is top tier.
If you like the bosses make sure you try it out on DMD.
Don't forget about the charge shots. It's really funny for one of the marionettes or what have you start getting up and spinning like they're going to rush you and just blast them across the room with a few quick bursts.
>boomers this mad
