Just started playing the first game, this is fun as fuck, even though I'm occasionally dying even on normal. Is there any point of autistically rerunning every chapter for 0 deaths?

Don’t worry yourself with ranks first play through. Anytime you don’t get stone you should be proud of yourself, and any time you do get stone you should realize it’s normal. This is typical for a first play through. Just focus on learning your strings and launchers and what moves you want to buy from the shop.

Also learn to dodge offset, it’s fun and really opens the game up. Best way to practice is doing punch kick punch combo with guns on hands and feet.

Press punch and continue holding it, bayo will start shooting, now dodge while still holding punch. When the dodge ends press kick and you will continue the string.

Try pressing punch, then punch(hold), dodge(while holding punch), then kick. You’ll see you can call the big fist even though you’ve dodged. It lets you stay mobile while still calling out you’re weave finishers which are you’re most damaging and staggering moves.

I got stone once because I died, aside from that I'm mostly hitting Silver to Platinum. I thought this would be much more unforgiving, since I have never played a hack and slash game before.
Hell, even Vindictus, the harder Arkham challenges and Monster Hunter feel more difficult compared to this, but maybe this is babby difficulty and early levels only. So far, I'm loving it.

It’s gunna throw some enemies and sections at you later that you will no doubt stone award first time. It will happen more frequently as time goes on, but don’t get discouraged. The first play through(and even most of the second) I consider a learning phase.
