Not him, Persona 5 becoming popular it's the reason i started the franchise, from fucking Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei, Persona 1 has one of the most interesting cast but it's not developed aside from Maki and the story is shorter and basic, P2 was way worse for me, uninteresting story and villain, the fact that EP has an even worse cast than IS and is not translated on PSP doesn't help, also, both aged like fucking shit, if we talk about gameplay.

It's not mainstream, it's more popular than it used to be, but it being an entry-level JRPG doesn't make it mainstream, 3 and 4 were already entry-level JRPGs before 5 anyway. Games like Fortnite, FIFA and Mario are mainstream, Persona is popular online, and is one of the better known JRPG series around, but if you pick someone off the street and ask if they know what Persona is, chances are low that they will, while they will know the likes of Pokémon or Mario or anything that's actually mainstream.
