I fucked around with the JavaScript for like a day. Maybe two days, can't remember. But I played it normally for days preceding that.

And, like I keep saying, there was no warning that bans would be used against people modifying the JS. If there had been such a warning then I would have stopped modifying the JS, of course. Or face the consequences - and then that would have been fair because every player would have been informed that modifying the JS would result in a ban.

If you want to use your kitchen analogy (which I think is flawed), there are many restaurants where you can look into the kitchen. Literally tons of restaurants. Ever been to Five Guys? The whole food preparation area is right there in front of you. Same with Subway, same with Chipotle. McDonald's is a bit more obscured but you can see most of what is going on. And many other types of restaurant too. The thing that usually is banned is ENTERING the kitchen without permission. Anyway I think this analogy doesn't make a huge deal of sense so yeah.

I think it's because it specifically looks for (e.g.) music/main0.wav, and not the replaced filename. We might have to host the music and sound in a different way to get the replacement to work or ask Infernoplus to change how it's loaded so it can be replaced easier.

First, I already got a couple of victories and a few 2nds and 3rds in the game before modifying the JS. Yeah definitely nowhere near the best player, no way, but I managed to get a couple of wins. I modified the JS to see what was possible, not because I didn't beat the game.

A way to make everyone happy is to just make the game more modular. People can replace the spritesets with whatever they want, and that's great, but the music can't as easily be replaced. Being able to set up your own music clientside would be a wonderful update even outside the scope of "we got DMCA'd and had to change everything super quick."

As for skins, what I would recommend is users being able to create custom skins. I'm not really a programmer but the way I can see it working well is like this

>adds those to his game in a specific folder for it, gives it a name
>uploads the skin online, other people can download it (not necessarily download it from the Mario Royale website because then you'd have to watch for copyright, some third-party site)
>if a player sees anyone else using a skin with that name, that player's sprites are replaced with those from the skin
>if the player doesn't have a specific skin downloaded, anybody who has that skin just appears as a default
It has no griefing potential since players have to manually download the skins, and no work needs to be done by the devs besides adding the framework (though if a dev did want to add official skins it could use the same framework and just have those skins loaded in the game by default.

Fixed my error, cleared my cache unless Ctrl+Shift+R and Ctrl+R doesn't clear the cache on Chrome, but to no success. Same endless loading screen, although it does immediately connect me to the lobby, and game.
