The reason why that works here and not in DR3 is because DR3 never explained why she is the Ultimate Gamer. Every other cast member has a reason why they're an Ultimate, and she didn't because she was an AI. But now, she's real.

Phoenix Wright definitely does. Also, if you're OK reading, check out Steins;Gate. There's next to no gameplay, but the story makes up for it once it hits a certain point. Honestly, I used to feel the same way about gameplay, but Steins;Gate changed that for me.

Ace attorney never has daily life, requires actual thought during the non-trial parts, and the only real minigame is testimony (argument in the investigation games) in the first one which is basically just nonstop debate with no time limit, literally every line available to use a truth bullet on, and every truth bullet in the case available. It’s more contemplative but lacks in urgency. Later entries have minigames but unlike ““improved”” hangman’s gambit or logic dive, they’re incredibly easy if you know the answer.

It's fun. I like it.

I legitimately enjoyed the funhouse chapter. But it was practically cheating for a killing game to hinge on that.

Well, the characters can be a mixed bag. It's fun solving the murders and the style is pretty nice. Also it has an actual ending now with V3 basically closing out the series so you only have 3 games to go through.
