Bought these at various points over the last 8 or so years when they were really cheap.
Whether or not they're installed doesn't mean anything. Would appreciate hearing which are the best and why.

>Nier Automata (only finished the first playthrough)
You're clearly aware that there's more by the wording of your post. Did you not enjoy route A enough to continue? If it didn't intrigue you enough to continue you might not find Route B tolerable enough to reach C.
>Salt and Sanctuary
Really oddly excellent Soulsish game made by a husband/wife duo. I loved it way more than I should have, honestly.

Attached: 1560517894146.gif (437x415, 271K)

I just didn't have the time man. And you know how it is. You lose momentum and it sits there Gathering dust while you regret not picking it back up but meanwhile people shit out games every new month and your wage schedule doesn't allow you to finish all of them.

I enjoyed Route A immensely. I was just made aware that Route B was gonna be Route A from Nines's POV and was like "if its gonna be 85% similar I might as well finish it next week".

RE Salt and Sanctuary: I'm stuck at the forest section (the third/fourth area?) I dunno, I keep dying to the verticality and I can't find the path to the next area no matter how many times I check guides. I might be a brainlet.

If you've never played BL2 I would go for it. Tons of content, though the story writing and dialogue is shit (you can always mute the voices or change the language or something).
The community patch mod for it is essential though. The endgame gets retardedly grindy, boring, and difficult without it.

If the antiquated graphics don't put you off and you have the patience for it, Thief 2 is god-tier. If you're a fan of those sorts of games (Immersive Sims) you'll be right at home. Assuming the Prey you listed was the 2017 one, it's really good too. Same genre. Basically System Shock 2's spiritual successor, with Dishonored's movement mechanics
Hollow Knight and Hyper Light Drifter were both good. Hollow Knight is better overall. Almost a perfect game, honestly.
Darkest Dungeon is polarizing. I loved it, but some people found it grindy. I'd strongly recommend treating your heroes as indispensable and it will go much better. Having to recruit new ones is a massive waste of time and resources.
Sekiro is really good. Idk what to say about it that isn't already known by everyone. Borderlands 2 is fun with good friends on voice chat.

I'll give a rec for Crypt of the Necrodance because of its USP, and one for Vanquish because I watched my friend play it and it's that classic high octane Platinum Games experience.

I'm sure other flavours of gamers would rec Cave Story, Ori, Risk of Rain and FTL, but I'm not intimately familiar enough with those.

BotW until you get bored, then overdose on Western rubbish and indieshits before you embark on Xenoblade Chronicles 2 until you get bored. These sprawling endless games requires some craving for high production values, anime tiddies and longform narratives in order to appreciate fully.

>witcher
>kotor
Assuming you mean Witcher 1, both are well-written, comfy, have great OSTs and are super atmospheric. Very awkward combat and a lot of slow pacing and backtracking. I love both, but the slow gameplay puts a lot of people off. If you're fine with stuff like Final-Fantasy-style turn-based combat it shouldn't be a problem.
>deus ex
God-tier. Between Thief 2, System Shock 2, and this, it's the head of the holy trinity of late 90's PC ImSims.
>devil may cry 2 or 3
2 is almost universally considered an affront to God whose only saving grace is that it's really short and easy.
3 is arguably the best game in its entire genre. Strongly recommend 3 over 2.

>I'll give a rec for Crypt of the Necrodance because of its USP

HZD was more enjoyable than I expected it to be. Combat could have been deeper and it suffers from one of the most inorganic A/B character dialog systems I've ever seen in a game for most in-game stuff, but it was still a decent ride. I'd do it first because it's decent but you probably won't want to do a second run (though the xpac was solid too) and some of the other games you may want to put more into. Also since it's a different feel you can break things up a bit.

S&S was also more fun then I'd expected.

DMC5 is decently short for a first playthrough. 20 hours tops if you're decent at the genre and playing on the harder of the two difficulties. Also it's really good
I'm a FROMdrone and cannot recommend Bloodborne and Sekiro enough. I had tons of fun with all 3 of those and didn't feel like my time was wasted with any of them.

Attached: wooloo.png (1000x975, 480K)

Of those I've only played Dragon's Dogma on PC and it was with mods. I'd put it with Shadow of Chernobyl, Dark Souls, and VtMB as a flawed masterpiece, if that says anything to you. It's janky and wonderful.

I assume you've already played GR1 Remaster? Because if not definitely play it first, GR2 isn't standalone and while it's technically awesome in some ways the progression and atmosphere of the first one is actually better.

Of those 3 PS4 ones though GR2 is probably the shortest and most straight forward.

I'll give DMC5 a go. Thanks user

>I enjoyed Route A immensely.
Then know that you should go back, do the sidequests you couldn't or didn't on Route B. ALL OF THEM.
You can take a break after that, but after you start route C and the game's main menu trailer changes, you will know what I mean, you can't take a break again, and must do route c to the end or else you will loose way too much momentum. You are just missing out on probably some of the greatest moments in videogame of this decade.

Agreed DX is still god tier, even today. If playing now though make sure to check out the Deus Ex On Modern Systems thing by kentie:
>kentie.net/article/dxguide/
DX was a Unreal Engine 1 game and thus can be significantly updated to work better and more smoothly today, and have some real reflections and such.

Pure vanilla is just fine on a first play through, no need to consider mods. There used to be one called "Shifter" that was back then mostly bug patching/content issue fixes and few QOL things, but I heard in the last few years they started going too far in altering the game heavily so no longer a standard recommend. Not sure what is an equivalent at this point if anything.

Stay away from "Deus Ex Revision" at all costs it's the HL2 Cinematic Mod of DX. Unless you like the latter in which case kill yourself.

>I just didn't have the time man. And you know how it is. You lose momentum and it sits there Gathering dust while you regret not picking it back up but meanwhile people shit out games every new month and your wage schedule doesn't allow you to finish all of them.
I know that feel 100%. Hell I only recently finally went back and finished Okami on the ps4, I'd gotten almost all the way through on the PS2 then got distracted and as the months went by it felt harder and harder to pick it up again and then I never did. But now so much time had gone by that it was fresh again and this time I made it all through and had fun.

Agree with other user though, if you did like it, then it's worth getting back in. You'll find it coming back.

STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl is one of my favorite games, and I highly recommend it. Your first time can be vanilla, but I'd also recommend Zone Reclamation Project for bug fixes. Just don't use "Complete" mod. Hardest difficulty is best too. Headphones recommended.
Dishonored 2 is also really good. Almost a complete improvement over the first one in terms of gameplay. Much worse characters and story though. PC version was busted on release but it runs well now with patches

You can always do different side quests to spice it up. But yes, it is mostly similar. If it's a real problem just speedrun through it and get to the ending. Everything past ending B is completely unique though with no more repetition, and arguably the real beginning of the game.
That's where you get the intro credits and title card drop.

Attached: taro on everything.png (1753x815, 1.42M)

Alright anons, I'll give it a go this summer and try and power through Route B.

If you're looking for a simple platformer that doesn't take too long to complete, Jak 1 is a good bet. It has some neat environments.

This sort of mentality is probably why you have a large backlog, desu

was kinda thinking of getting into the Yakuza series

Finish Nier: Automata
Lisa or Hollow Knight, they're both great

DMC2 is incredibly bad and I say that as someone who never recommends skipping parts of a series, but it's just really awful
Finish Sekiro
Bloodborne
Dragon's Dogma
Dark Souls 3
STALKER
Finish Golden Sun. If you haven't touched a game in months, you should really just abandon the idea of continuing the playthrough and pick the game up again from the start whenever you feel like doing so.
Yakuza or Hollow Knight

Thanks to the anons who recommended playing AC7 in a previous thread btw, it's been pretty damn fun. Does it belong on the backlog if I only played it once?

>>Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance
Holy shit do this one. Still one of the most impressive RTS of all time, and even the campaign is well executed. If you decide to do any MP though make sure to get Forged Alliance Forever, the community has kept it alive and massively patched and improved it over time. Vanilla died forever ago.

Attached: supcom.jpg (1600x1200, 549K)

Does it have to be both medieval AND fantasy, or only one of them will do?

I would say a backlog is just any list of games you want to play but keep putting off. Whether or not its your first run is irrelevant.

FF8 or T first. Past time to get those knocked off.

Yes, but these games obviously don't belong to this thread.

Looking for PS2 game recommendations, the only ones I've beaten are DMC 1-3, SMT: Nocturne, and Final Fantasy X. Everything else is on my backlog, this list scrolls and has most of the relevant games but I can find any that I'm missing.

Going by this, DA: Origins is probably your best bet from among the games you posted.
Also, check out some of these recs:

Shadow of the Colossus is superb and definitely worth at least one run.
Sly Cooper 1-3 are great too.

Yakuza or Sekiro. Kenshi is great, but it takes quite a while to get into, so make sure you're in the right mood when picking it up.
Hotline Miami
MGS2, assuming you've beaten MGS1 already
EYE: Divine Cybermancy

Didn't know about this one, but it sounds like I could get into it.
I knew about Tactic Ogre but never really looked into it, I guess I should.
Thanks for the recommendations anons.

>Shadow of the Colossus is superb and definitely worth at least one run.
Agreed, but I'd definitely play Ico first. It too really pushed the lighting engine over everything making for a very unique atmosphere, but in a less advanced way as it was their first attempt. It's a bit easier and more fun to play Ico and SotC after then the other way around, and they're both good (and not long).

Fatal Frame 2 was also great, but that's a game that has had major improvements and some nice extra endings and such in later remasters/Director's Cuts so I'm not sure I'd suggest the PS2 version at this point.

I say you should play the Baldur's Gates if you plan on getting the third game when it comes out

Finish Sunless Sea first, then go for Valkyria Chronicles.

I say you should try MM6, because it is the only one that is not isometric from the bunch.

This is a list of excellent games, honestly. I'd comment you on your good taste but you haven't played them.
For one, you have almost every major Immersive Sim except Deus Ex and Ultima Underworld on there. If you've played that and you liked it you could just go on a marathon of the genre in approximately chronological order. Would also give you a unique perspective on it untainted by nostalgia.
Something like

Oh man you're in for a treat. If you take it slow and use the Guide NPC liberally you have quite a great experience in front of you. I heartily recommend playing unmodded and avoiding the wiki for your first run.

Play Dead Cells as like an ongoing in-between type game when you're bored and can dip into it once in a while

As for the others I would probably say Stardew Valley for cozy and Doom for the opposite of that

>Thief Gold
Got into Deus Ex recently and now this just feels too slow. Not to mention that guards can just chop off the majority of your health without much warning when you're caught.

Legacy of Kain as a series has the best story of any game ever. SR1 feels pretty outdated though. Not just talking about the graphics, it also has really unimaginative puzzles and so on. SR2 and Defiance were much better in that respect.

Play SotN, it's great, and is probably the shortest game on your list apart maybe from DmC. Like all IGAvania games, it's basically a love letter to classical European culture.
But don't go for the Saturn version, play either PS1 or PSP/PS4. Also, the English dub is horrible, I'm lucky that I know Japanese. IIrc the PSP/PS4 version has a new English dub though, might be good.

After that, go for Nier.

Fuck Valkyria Chronicles, it's the most Jewish game ever to come out of Japan. (Muh Darksen are SOOO unfairly persecuted by everyone, for NOOOO reason at all!). If you're in the mood for some Japanese SRPG, I recommend Disgaea instead.

>Darkwood
>Started up a new 1 life save a while ago, didn't get too far. Now I'm a little too spooked in acting like a moron and losing all of my progress whenever I look towards it. Should I stick to 1 life or switch off to hard?
Is it your first run? If so you absolutely should not do a single-life run. It can get incredibly hard in the later portions of the game. I'd recommend a hard-mode run at the most.
You can consume embryos instead of cooking them to gain a life.

Attached: wolfman.gif (200x320, 1.81M)

Darkest Dungeon is decently long to truly complete, maybe 50 or so hours. If you're not committing to each run it's unlikely you'll get it any time soon.
Thief Gold and The Metal Age are slow by their nature. If you're getting caught and especially if you're in their melee range you're messing up hard, user. Run and hide.

Glad there are others who know it. Seems barely ever recognized.

>Is it your first run?
Not exactly, no. My first run was on hard, where I found the hideout in the Silent Forest that the wolf guy wanted me to head to and started moving some of my stuff from my first to second base. Hasn't ended yet, but I died twice and wasted a good number of days doing random shit. For the rest of the game, I'd be going in blind.
Thanks for the advice and the tip though.

>This is a list of excellent games, honestly. I'd
That's because I research games before I decide to play them. I have little time for games so I only play the best ones (and Ass Creeds because they have the best city designs in all of gaming and I am a huge sucker for that). Most of the time if I have a game on a list, it's because there is something about that game that I know is excellent and I want to experience it and I am 100% sure that I will not be disappointed. There are a few exceptions though, like Baldur's Gate where I don't know about any particular feature being excellent, I just heard that they are great cRPGs.

Hyperlight Drifter is pretty good and also short so go for it first.
>Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
If you're going to marathon the whole saga I'd give it high priority as well. Soul Reaver 1 is the weakest point of the series, but it has its moments and the whole thing is fucking amazing. Also, play BO2 before Defiance or it'll be pretty anticlimactic.
Leagce of Kain series is absolute must play, it's like Dune of vidiya.

Depend on what you'd want: more story or more combat.
IWD are entirely combat focused, Planescape is almost a visual novel, BG somewhere in between.
Pillars are only good if you've been starving for this kind of games for a decade. It's fucking nostalgiabait with absolutely retarded bloated RPG system and countless lore dumps just to check "walls of text just like in Planescape!" and "muh worldbuilding" boxes.
Dunno about Kingmaker, haven't played it.

DUDE SCIENCE LMAO

Don't know. I've read through his arc like 3 times and I still don't know why he just stops fighting in the end. And why is there a second Mitty?

The real Bondrewd died to make the whistle.
The Zoaholic copied his soul/consciousness a bunch, and over time has degraded it to the point that the only thing that is left is his insatiable curiosity and jovial nature. He's not even really a person anymore. It's why he can be genuinely cheerful and loving towards someone while tearing them apart for something he's curious about.

Should I watch the anime?

Yes.

read it

The anime is a really good adaptation of the manga, and the OST is god-tier. Highly recommend it as long as you're aware this is not a kid's show at all.
The character we're posting only appears in the final episode and not for long; you'll have to wait for future seasons or OVAs to see his arc.
But yeah, the manga's good too and the art is really awesome.
