That was a good thing because the transformations forced you to stop and do a dance before continuing. Risky's tools were so good because they were incorporated into your movements and it felt natural to move around with them, especially the canon and boots. My hopes for Shantae 5 is that transformations will return and WON'T force you to stop and dance. Pirate's Curse is the best Shantae game for a reason and I hope the mediocre reception of HGH opened Wayforward's eyes a bit to this

It was more like a clunky kind of average.
The first two games were poorly handled Wonder Boy-likes (Risky's Revenge notably due to lack of an automap on the fucking DSi) and HGH decided it should be Mega Man with a less bullshit transformation system.
