EU always and "international" servers, and local servers for various languages. But forcing people on an international server, will make people talk in only their language in public chat. Some will stick to English, but others you did not want to play on an IS, will keep to themselves. There will be German/French/Spanish guilds, and it will be one big mess. Unlike the traditional IS.

If they are not region blocked it won't matter too much. Russians either hate themselves so they play on EU realms, or they hate you, so they play on EU realms. It just pure malice, they won't give a shit about separate client of they can still access EU servers.

Did they even have language based realms in retail vanilla? I only remember the server name, type and population being shown. I unwittingly joined the de facto Portuguese server and didn't even notice until I hit endgame.

Oh come on, fuck this. Classic is all about the community and this goes completely against that. Seperation by language is necessary, otherwise we'll only get toxic behaviour and a split community. Have you checked the Battle.net forums lately? the english Eu is getting spammed with sauerkraut and baguette slurs, the german thread of the announcement has already reached 5k+ replies (only subscribers can post) and the US classic forums are also invaded by screaming yuros.

i dunno I liked raiding in an eu guild on private server. we had all nationalities speaking bad english in our own shitty accents it's actually pretty comfy. language based realms just isolate people and prevent from communities like I mentioned from forming.

As a russian i really dunno what to do.
Russian guilds are really shit with "do or die" raid calendar(at least thats my Nostalrius experience), also average guild player was not being able to speak English at even basic communicate forms, so thats why they went to Russian guild.
At some point, i'm very bad at pronouncing part, since i almost never had actual talking with foreigners. Also, i feel like timezones will also kill any chances for me to raid with EU.
Well, probably will stick with EU anyway, if price will be same. Better than playing with own kind.
