Say what you will about Sonic Adventure, but it had good music and good water.
A game can be choppy and have broken controls, an impossible camera, repetitive tasks, a nonsensical story... but as long as the music is good and the water looks good, it will be an enjoyable experience.

That game just had several stories of several characters. and each story had different feel.
Omega had phylosophical feel. Tails had a story of a kid that wants to be strong like his big bro.
Big the Cat is just a chill story of a simple guy that enjoys simple things.
I loved playing as him in betweens of doing something epic as other characters

There was also when he stumbles on beta being rebuilt and he just looks and watches for a bit, then goes to get Amy and has a stare down with the bird while vibrating violently for some reason.
For a Sonic game it's a good ass story.
