>it's actually good
I-Is Valve back lads?
It's actually good
>Is valve back
Was it their idea? Or did they just take something that became successful since their spinoff failed so hard
I mean technically, they did offer the chink modders a chance at the full game. When they said no and picked Epic like greedy fucks though, Valve said ok and made the game anyways.
Valve's last good game they actually made themselves was Half-life 2. Reskins don't count.
It's really kinda funny, the whole situation. DOTA2 basically being stolen right from blizzard, autochess got stolen right from dota2.
Is this the auto-chess game they said they wanted to make?
>autochess got stolen right from dota2.
>Auto Chess already at 120k concurrent players
>Epic forced to use stock chinese shit for their auto chess
>"stolen"
If that helps you sleep at night sure Tim
>autochess got stolen right from dota2
But Valve got an official go-ahead from Drodo (the makers of the original Auto Chess).
Source: blog.dota2.com
As for us, with Drodo’s blessing, a group of people here at Valve are currently working on a standalone Dota version. We’ll share more information about this soon.
From the Drodo team:
”We appreciate the great encouragements, support and help that Valve offered on Dota Auto Chess and Drodo’s standalone game. Valve has been a great company, who gave birth to the Steam Platform and open community like Workshop, enabling millions of players to display their talents. Being a fan of Dota2, we have great confidence in Valve’s new game, and expect the next world-class game. In the meantime, with Valve’s support, Drodo will continue updating the DAC mod, and attempt to design new modes and adaptations in our stand-alone game. We endeavor to offer more to you, all the fans that like Auto Chess. Thank you, it’s you that are making this possible. We look forward to growing together!”
>like greedy fucks
They're chinks. Valve is gonna get kicked out of the market soon. They're not retarded.
Teamfight Tactics is objectively better
>DOTA2 basically being stolen right from blizzard
remainder that he went to blizzard first to make dota 2 and they at laughed him all the way to valve
there's some obscene valve bias in this situation. imagine this situation in reverse:
>chinese company owns a game that is dying
>some scrappy western dev team makes a great mod that singlehandedly revives the game
>chinese company wants a piece of this pie and offers said dev team a deal that is too shitty for the western dev to accept
>"IS OK, WE MAKE OUR OWN GAME :)"
>chinese company proceeds to make a carbon copy of the game the western team made, to the point of using the same names, ability designs and even PvE waves, except it's low effort mobile shit, and it's explicitly released as early as possible to beat the original western dev team's own version to market
this shit is just deplorable on the part of valve. there's nothing wrong with buying the original dev team and making a game with them like they did with CS and TF2, but if you don't own the original dev team, then you're just making an unapologetic rip-off. valve is actually the living stereotype of a chinese bootleg game company now.
If I think about it in terms of the game itself, this is probably the better route. A good portion of the original Autochess relied on DOTA 2. The characters, ability, art style. Then you look at the Epic Games Autochess, and *that* feels like a bootleg.. It's harsh, but it's a welcome spinoff for DOTA, but if you're going to make a new IP out of it, will probably take more than a few months.
I have no problem with the original developers doing their own thing, and no way would I chalk it up as "chinks selling out". But morality aside, I think Valve will offer the better product here. If Valve can offer Autochess but better, then it's a sad scenario of showing how much Autochess relied on DOTA. And why a game mode mod requires more substance to be its own IP once you leave the source material. But maybe I'm being a bit harsh here. Throwing these thoughts on the spot.
its absolute mobile garbage shit tier game ported to PC
but hey, its Valve so steamcucks will eat any shit that Gabe gives them and blame Chinks for everything
>stolen from blizzard
They won the legal battle over this. DotA belonged to IceFrog and he was hired by Valve.
maybe if a chinese game company had ever made anything of value your hypothetical would have some meaning
and what did Valve make of value?
except Half Life every single game of theirs is a remake of a mod
Drodo and Valve had negotiations and split on good terms.
If anyone "stole" anything it's Riot Games again.
>help them migrate gameplay stats off Dota 2
>even gave the Dota 2 DAC the gamepass so drodo could earn money off Valve's platform with their dota 2 arcade version
>tHiS ShIT Is jUsT dEpLOrAbLe oN tHe PaRt oF VaLVe
God damn, you are a fucking nigger. Also the irony that you are somehow pitying chinese mobile devs for being ripped off when they clearly aren't.
is autochess the new battle royal?
i bet there are already some plans for a cod autochess mode
there's nothing wrong with valve making their own auto chess game, but the way they went about it is just shameful. they didn't make their own game, they just took the game the chinese dudes made and branded it off as their own. even blizzard, being the creators of the game dota was modded out of, had the decency to try to make their own game when they made HotS.
not to mention that valve has this really aggressive strategy to grab market share from the original guys by releasing their game in a largely unfinished, mobile-shit state. it's just sad what valve has become.
if auto chess has no value, then why the fuck is everyone going after that market now? stupid, don't ever reply to me again.
They hired a lot of modders and gave them well paying jobs, that's more than most of the industry can say but I'm sure none of that has valve despite making those people's projects into full-fledged games.
Why don't you go be a faggot somewhere else?
except IceFrog who did they hire? nice pulling fact s from your ass
Eul :^)
they didnt hire any modders you dumb shit, they literally stole all mods and made them their own game
Yes, it is the new hot genre.
>it's actually good
Maybe you should go on back to plebbit.
>Valve STILL trying to shill this piece of shit mobile game here
OH NONONONONO
At least take an up to date screenshot when you need to shitpost.
Put effort into something once in your worthless life.
imaging being so desperate to praise valve that you proceed to eat their virtual excrement
tim sweeney seething
What about Icefrog? Original CS developers (Cliffe and Gooseman)? Original TFC developers? Entire Narbacular Drop team?
Redpill me on autochess. It looks kinda dull.
It's a fun time waster to play on your 2nd monitor if you're working on something else.
latest streamer bait game.
Because the game takes zero effort and you can basically be a zombie while playing it, it is the perfect game for streamer to play and make easy money from.
>DOTA2 basically being stolen right from blizzard
Wrong you retard. Icefrog went to Blizzard first and they laughed in his face. I will never not mock Blizzard for fucking up THIS BADLY.
gamers dont want dota
they think they do but they dont
Tower defense but with light RTS mechanics
I don't get all the autochess hype.
The matches last way too long and it's not even as fun as card games like MTGA
It's like a card game for retards. Only that you don't get to build your own deck, the game plays itself and it's even RNG.
>The matches last way too long
true that
>autochess hype
I didn't know this was much of a thing. I know Team Fight Tactics is getting the most exposure, but I don't know why.. I mean, does League really have that much more pull, considering Underlords just released in Open Beta, *and* on mobile? I'm not in on the MOBA scene to know.
Also, Underlords seems more promising than DOTA in my opinion. But for me that's not a high bar set.
blaming RNG is the easiest way to spot people who suck at these games. have you never played hold'em? do you think the pro poker players just constantly get lucky?
>good
fucking hell, m8. i played one game and it felt like a tedious wc3 TD. what a mindless waste of an hour
did you even read the post?
Same.
They need to somehow make this a 20 minute affair, not a 40 minute one.
>already at 120k concurrent players
>game released days ago has big numbers
>said game also has a big announcement on steam front page
>f2p on top of that
As of now, these number really are not an argument. If it stays there 2 months from now then you have something.
The game practically plays itself and has that type of RNG that scratches the gambling itch, it's great for normalfags who just want to kill time
Yeah, Drodo team said they are fine with Valve making brand NEW world-class game in genre of auto-chess, not a carbon copy of their own game for mobiles (EVEN FUCKING CREEP WAVES ARE IDENTICAL).
And since they are backed up by Epic, expect some major shitshow soon.
At least I saw some fun in mobas, card games, team shooters and such
Autochess as a genre is gonna be some boring ass months or more.
The two CS dudes and the Portal team.
Stop lying out of your ass retard, especially if it'*s so easy to research.
>glorified cockfight gambling where you literally don't play it, all you do is position shit
Shhh, no facts, only hurt fee fees please. That's all Timmys boys are able to understand by now.
So this what Underlords are.
... what?
TFT also have literally the same creep phases set-up and units. You cant license idea user. Or are you also telling me "OMG LoL also have 3 melee creep + 1 ranged creep, with a catapult sometimes. Valve will sue this" or "3 fucking lanes, 3 towers per lane. what is this rip off?"
I could find an evolved game of this more fun. You get to build your own deck, have stuff like enchantments and spells and changing the way upgrading units work.
Their own game was derivative of valve's game so what are you bitching about, every character is practically the dota character with some chinky name like "heavenbomber' instead of tinker.
Underlord does have the global buffs, and soon to be "underlords" aka Gwent's character based buffs that affect how you play
It exists, it's called mtg.
>and soon to be "underlords" aka Gwent's character based buffs that affect how you play
Citation?
The game used to have a card-like UI, that I think gave you more detail at once than the current version. Probably removed because in fear people will think "card games are stinky". Which, to be fair many games I play with card mechanics just clunk up the game with that stanky f2p UI (Paragon) and the fact they just released a card game that's readying for a second launch (Artifact). But your idea does sound neat. Me thinks it would mesh well with the idea of Autochess. I mean, it plays a lot less like chess, I'd say.
underlords.com
hear you go. quite a lot of stuffs promised actually
I think the idea of putting down your units and letting them fight each sounds a bit fun, but because there is basically zero variation or much control from the actual player I can't find it fun more than playing a few games.
At least if you were allowed to build your own "deck" the game would be so much more fun.
Thanks
TFT is infinitely better valvecucks. Just compare Twitch viewers.
That tag will be like "furry" on pixiv. Be in places it has no business belonging in.
>twitch viewers
I bet you read a lot of game reviews as well huh?
By that logic BotW is better than RDR2.
Glad we finally put this to rest.
Nah, he clearly gets his reviews from Yea Forums bait threads.
Dota chess is litearlly aimed and catered towards streamers.
Then where is the twitch integration, fag?
Is it just me or is the industry churning through new "genres" very quickly lately?
lmao you retarded pcbro, if the situation was reversed and valve was the one getting ripped off, you'd be crying bloody murder. valve only helped them because it thought they would work with them to create a full-fledged DAC game together. now that it's clear they have no interest in working with valve, valve is trying to undermine them at every turn.
Proton
Can someone tell me what autochess is
I looked it up once and had no idea what was going on
It's just you. Battle royale has been around 2 years, third person shooters occupied much of the mid 2010s, MOBA was the early 2010s, which was the longest period, really. FPS lasted 3-4 from 2006 or so on, before that I don't really remember, truthfully.
fortnite broke the minds of businessmen and convinced them that the key to billions is copying some popular genre as quickly as possible to corner the market for themselves. it's also the reason valve released their game unfinished, they had to arrive into the market early enough to grab the biggest possible share. originality isn't important to game companies now, it's all about speed and momentum
>fortnite
I mean, league of legends did it before fortnite, or did you just block out how every single company shit out a MOBA for a while? We had a god damned lord of the rings MOBA. FPS before that because of CoD. Every single game was a modern tacticool FPS.
Really it is you but there was a decent amount of "stagnation" from the 00's-13 when there was very little media attention to anything that wasn't the newest call of duty or madden.
Difference is that Fortnite became the most popular game in existence and makes billions and billions of dollars.
It's gotten much worse lately, partially because of how much money fornite has made.
>Every single game was a modern tacticool FPS.
It was funny to see when the last few harry potter games came out and they were tacticool FPS games though
League of legends was also the most popular and profitable game in the entire world for an extended period of time. It's also got a larger global presence. Fortnite is pretty western, and china/korea are still going hard on PUBG instead. You're overestimating fortnite's popularity versus league. EVERYONE played league back in 2011 just like EVERYONE plays fortnite now. In terms of normalfags anyway.
it's different though. i told you how. it used to be:
>company makes a new game in a new genre and it's a hit
>other companies see this, want a piece of the pie
>but the philosophy is: "we'll have to be original, have something the other game doesn't, and make it on our own terms in order to be popular"
>their game gets released 1-2 years later as its own product
now, since fortnite, it feels way more like
>company makes a new game in a new genre and it's a hit
>other companies see this, want a piece of the pie
>they remember how fortnite managed to corner the market by being the first non-shit BR game despite being kind of a low effort rip-off with very little originality besides the building mechanic
>the philosophy becomes: "we'll have to beat others to market, otherwise we'll never grab a sizeable market share, get our game out as soon as possible"
>game gets released in 6 months as a half-finished mess
DAC could be its own thing, but i think we'll see the same happen with other genres as well. no originality or effort, just a gold rush of unfinished, crunched out copycats that hope to luck out and grab the market for themselves.
It's almost identical to the Dota 2 map except the item system is slightly less retarded and the interface is actually designed with the game in mind.
>>but the philosophy is: "we'll have to be original, have something the other game doesn't, and make it on our own terms in order to be popular"
This has never been the case.
I guess you weren't alive for the endless Mario clones, animal mascot platformers, military shooters, cinematic third-person cover shooters, etc etc
>League of legends was also the most popular and profitable game in the entire world for an extended period of time.
Really? I mean, I heard it was popular but I never heard of it being anything even 1/10th of fortnite. I heard a grand total of 0 people otuside of Yea Forums talk about league and yet fortnite is STILL being talked about on local news stations.
>shit on sony for le movie games that play themself
>play a literally shit tier mobile game
The LoL version will be vastly more popular since it's playerbase is much higher. NO one from LoL wants to play with Dota heroes they have zero knowledge or interest in so they'll stick to Teamfight Tactics
How old were you 10 years ago? Not trying to meme, but being serious. League had boxed copies in gamestop, toys in toys r us and gamestop, and it was having it's tournaments (Mostly the lcs in 2012/2013) broadcast on TV before fortnite had it's shit broadcasted there. It's not on every platform so there's not as large a concentration of younger more vocal players to market it, but there were celebrities playing it and shit just like there were/are for fortnite.
It was really that popular. It's still pretty popular, surprisingly, it just isn't expanding it's userbase anymore, it's hit a plateau.
Why did they give them shit like the game pass if they are trying to "undermine" them.
Are you actually retarded?
Are you an English teacher? Because you're making shit up on the fly and making colossal assumptions the original writer never intended
I only tried the original autochess a little bit but it felt clunky, and not knowing any combos was discouraging. Is this one more casual friendly?
I played it for a few ahours, Is this just a disguised Card Game?
I hope Valve eats shit and dies and the chinkoid insects destroy them. Lard fatswine lazyturd needs to choke on a footlong subway and shit his pants while croaking like a fat, overheated pig.
based
Oh and I'm not saying it's as big, in terms of actual numbers, as fortnite. I'm just saying relative to the period, league was absolutely as popular as fortnite. Fortnite is way bigger, because it's on such a large variety of platforms.
league was the hot shit. EVERYONE was playing it. biggest difference between league then and fortnite now is that fortnite is more accepted mainstream.
Won't lie, their comeback round system is sorely needed for Underlords
there's a difference between adding onto the genre and just making the same game. like, valve's underlords has the same units with the same abilities and same stats, same PvE enemies with the same stats, same bench size, almost the same UI and so on. it's not a new game. it's the same game as drodo's auto chess.
the advent of quick & easy patching and DLC changed game dev a lot. you can now release completely unfinished games and add onto them as you go along. that's why these devs are getting away with this: they reckon they can make their games unique and finished as they go along.
>"Mom! Look! I'm being edgy again!"
Your posting doesn't sound healthy, you should get some help.
I was 16, and yea they had merchandise for it and it used to be more popular, but I never heard any widespread talk about it, though I think I did hear about there being some tournament on some additional espn channel.
I was about to say "maybe it's because the internet was less intensely pervasive in 2006" and then remembered 10 years ago was 2009.
>is that fortnite is more accepted mainstream.
Isn't that the entire argument though? Which one is more popular and mainstream?
fortnite is bigger than league was
Meanwhile In-Game theres 171k players
They're valve's units and enemies from dota you brainlet.
gaming industry is much bigger now than it was 10 years ago. what was big player numbers in the games industry 10 years ago would be relatively small numbers now.
every year we have to remind these Twitch screenshot summer babys that League fags love WATCHING other people play, whereas DotA players actually PLAY
yeah, just like how blizzard came up with dota since they made the character models the original custom game uses. yikes
sure, and their's probably even more in Teamfight Tactics, though I don't have the number. Twitch also isn't the best metric of popularity since people will watch their favorite streamers no matter what they play, and LoL has a shit ton of popular streamers
As generic a name as "Underlords" is "Teamfight Tactics" sounds like one of the joke legally distinct names someone would come up with as a shitpost.
>f2p game that just go released that has heavy advertisement on Steam
Give it a few weeks and there won't even be 10% of those numbers playing.
The argument I was making is more that in the period, league was exceptionally popular, and you could compare it to fortnite's modern success and draw a lot of parallels.
Of course it is, but that doesn't change it was a game changer then. There were colleges setting up league teams and paying scholarships to league players. It's like saying because the NES only sold like 75k units in it's launch year it isn't relevant now.
sure Guinsoo, if that helps you sleep at night
as a dota player I like to play the original game, not some shitty knock off.
In this case both those games are knock offs.
Long live epicgames.com
didn't he collaborate with the heroes of newerth guys first, but then screwed them over to go to valve?
They're trying to subtly hint that it's a tactics styled game.
yes, but he was rejected by blizzard first
so this shit is dumbed down dota which is dumbed down warcraft 3 which is dumbed down starcraft? wonder how will it be dumbed down 5-10 years from now, eventually it will just be tic tac toe with lootboxes
dota is smartened up warcraft 3
>dota is smartened up warcraft 3
played this shite for an hour and its boring as fuck
blizzdrones will try to deny this
>RTS requires SKILL REEEEEEEEE
>Proceeds to 6 pool rush or GG quit every match
Okay IdrA
wew lad, remember final combat? Valve is going full chinese
So drodo "stole" from valve who "stole" from blizzard but valve's the bad guy and should redo their roster or else it's not fair to drodo?
Really makes me think this one, imagine claiming blizzard should redo hots because some of their characters are similar to dota 2 characters, that's how retarded you're being right now.
usually it's butthurt RTS players who mistake mechanical skill for strategic depth
Woah...so this is the power of League of Legends™
It has a tutorial and bot rounds at least.
Borderline yes. Like, a super casual card game, with out the marketing hit from calling it a card game.
コプ
Riot sponsors people, Valve puts theirs behind a paywall and says "here you go schmucks." That advertising helps get boosted numbers not just by the people sponsored, but the leeches trying to get people to watch because the sponsored game pulls in big numbers. Half of those are more are also from people watching "their streamer" and not caring what fotm they play unless you really think people watching fags like Reckful are there for the game.
By....making a game a modding team, using their engine and resources, gave their blessings to make?
In case you're unfamiliar with what "full chinese" ACTUALLY means, it's when a company blatantly and hastily makes a carbon copy game from ANOTHER company while the market is high and offer it for a low or no price, with ingame purchase incentives right at the door
Fucking christ, summer kids need to shut the fuck up if they don't know what they're talking about
t. sim city pro
Woah....less technical skilled games with a high barrier of entry attract more people....wtf....end of the world bros....
I loved competitive RTS before Dota, but the strategic depth Dota offers over any RTS game was unparalleled
I have that one I think. Maybe it was the later edition, mine came with a paper map, and silver kayle.
I still used that kayle skin, up until they fucking annihilated her and I quit.
lol not even toddlers are as delusional as you people
literally a cult
i never said that valve stole from blizz or that drodo stole from valve
i think valve shouldn't have copied drodo's game from like a moral standpoint. that's not what respectable companies do, that's for chinese bootleg companies, see:
a cult of moba players? It's a pretty unpopular opinion, I haven't seen many other people saying it
If anything valve is ok with copying autochess since its from their own custom port
Meanwhile riot games? Dafuq. As soon as league streamers started plaging dota they wanted a piece of the PIE ASAP
>max 200/200 units or do a cheese rush
>pretend you have APM by repeatedly clicking the same units and direction spot
Also pcgamer.com
Meanwhile TFT has limited capacity to 400k players and ridiculous queue times.
Cutest one will win. So it will be version from Epic or Riot.
>play Auto Chess on phone
>select this unit
>"CHING CHONG PING PONG CHEE SHAY LAY MAY TAY WOO TANG CLAN"
unless it gets an english dub its dead in the water.
The real argument is league is yesterdays game.
Deal with it. Fortnites the new shit.
Come on grandpa
Bambi bouncing up and down after a win > that rushed "OC DONUT STEEL" centaurette
>i think valve shouldn't have copied drodo's game
Drodo's game was built on their game, neither could have the autochess that they now have without the other so I'd say the both had a mutuality beneficial relationship and that drodo could get a better deal with someone else shouldn't mean that valve just has to abandon theirs.
>RTS faggot pretending he isn't some backwater afterbirth of GSG gaming
don't get uppity with your delusional contrarion BS , your genre was already dying well before MOBA/DOTA/ASSFAGGOT even existed
That's literally what I said to begin with, dipshit. Read the reply chain. But that user was saying league was never popular, which isn't true. League was as big, if not bigger than fortnite is, scaled relative to the time period.
>Drodo made their own game called AutoChess
>Then split the olive branch with Valve
>THEN made their game with Epic
Drodo coming in with max wrinkly brain plays
incredibly ironic post considering mobas were flavor of the decade normie genre that replaced mmos and was in turn replaced by battle royales
They're gonna get buried by TFT and UL, and they'll regret not making that deal with Valve. Even their fellow chinks are turning against them.
They'll have the mobile market cornered it looks like which is not something i care about but is probably huge.
npbp
It is huge. Mobile makes up such a disproportionately large number of "gamers" nowadays. It's why fortnite has retained it's relevance, honestly. It's also the only reason PUBG is still around. The PC version is dead as fuck but I know loads of people in asia that play pubg mobile 10+ hours a day.
>what is tf2
>what is counter strike
>what is portal
meanwhile 315k players on the TFT servers queue which requires a pbe account
TableTops->GSG->RTS->MOBA->AC
MMORPGs->MORPG and MMO ->Large Party Instanced Team games -> Instanced Party games -> Whatever the hell WoW and XIV are today
You'll notice all games get easier and less reliant on other players with time
What you're seeing is the death of ALL games, not just shitty RTS, or MOBAs
GSG isn't even a real genre nitwit it's just a Paradox marketing term.
same with alot of genre names really
That was before now that Underlords in the mobile market they'll get swept away. But theyr'e doing $1M tournament apparently so we'll see how that Epic Games money can last for them.
user, this wasn't their project either
Then neither is MOBA, since the true term would be DotA, a defense of the ancient game
But since morello and pendragon literally shilled and cried nonstop, they managed to squeeze in Massive Online Battle Arena, which covers everything from WoW's BGs to Fortnite
does it have waifus?
How the fuck is CoC still relevant
why is it ok when gaben pander to the chinks?
Shit, i knew it had a mobile ui on like day 1 but didn't even know valve were in the mobile game market.
gotta play the better game if you want waifus
>Valve is gonna get kicked out of the market soon.
Imagine being this delusional.
OH NO NO NO NO
No, you miss the point. Paradox games are literally RTS (you can pause/speed up/down in almost all RTS games) games by definition. GSG as a genre isn't it's own, unique thing. You can call the term MOBA bullshit and prefer DotA or hero brawler or whatever, but MOBA/DotA/hero brawler/whatever term you prefer is its own genre.
Hopefully drodo got a nice cheque for their trouble and Tim Sweeney has to take the loss on his fat fucking chin.
Valve is already out of game development market. They are literally not even trying, they don't need to as long as steam is there.
> Paradox games are literally RTS (you can pause/speed up/down in almost all RTS games)
>you can pause/speed up/down in almost all RTS games
>pause/speed
do you know what the RT in RTS mean?
Makes sense to post this in a thread about a new Valve game that got released even on mobile, a huge market, for the first time.
"The market" as in the market of CIS. The CPC do not like foreign companies. Valve need a go-between (Perfect World) just to have Steam there. They've already successfully endorsed a domestic competitor to take down PUBG's success in the region (primarily using an anti-violence law).
>literally RTS (you can pause/speed up/down in almost all RTS games)
Then that's not a REAL TIME strategy, but just a strategy game
In Age of Empires 2, I can pause the game, issue orders to all my units, and then unpause it. I can do this as many times I want. Is Age of Empires 2 not an RTS game? Real time simply means that it's not turn based.
A literal fucking reskin of another game. Wake me up in 2030 when they decide to make their own game
auto chess had 200 to 300k concurrent from Feb until the split happened and different games were released. Autochess in whatever form is here to stay.
This is a fucking mobile game.
>chinks complaining about people copying things
O I am Laffin
No shit, Sherlock.
ironically this shit is just Plants vs Zombies
