Just going through the maths of creating a fibonacci sphere. Algorithm works, but I have a habit of obsessing over how it all works before I can move on.
Trying to figure out the style I want on my sky spheres/domes and whether or not I want to incorporate some 3d assets to bring it all in line with my games visual style.

I wanna make an open worldish monster catching RPG like Pokemon, but with level design inspired by Hollow Knight. The different areas connect and loop around in very intricate ways, and you can more or less go anywhere right from the start. In fact, like in HK I want the player to be able to reach late game areas relatively early, if they find some of those intricate connections early. The reason this works btw, is cause unlike Pokemon, there won’t be random encounters, but rather all the monsters roam the land and can be avoided (sort of, some may aggro you).

You’d still have abilities you can unlock to progress through the game and increase your movement options ofc, but you can more or less accessa huge chunk of the make rather early. I guess you’d say it opens in chunks, and since the areas are modular and generally self contained there’s no need to worry about staunching progression.

Anyway, the one question is in regard to world design. I’m not a writer, I’m an artfag, so idk how I’d build the world since I don’t have a narrative for it. I really liked the verticallity of games like Dark Souls, Xenoblade 1, and the aforementioned Hollow Knight, but I’m not overly sure how well that could work for a game like this. Any ideas?

I just have a long-ass text document to develop the story and programing tricks and ideas with the limitations, as well as indecipherable temp graphics

I stopped working on it to deal with other stuff.
