No. You didn't have to grind for gear when you went from ARR to HW, why do you think you're going to have to grind when going from HW to SB? Story content quests give you gear that's adequate enough to complete MSQ and everything related to it.

You can succ spells from enemies and keep them in stocks instead of using mana to cast shit.

Triple Triad gives you cards, you can use the Card Refine ability from GFs to create spells
Draw takes a random amount of a spell from the chosen enemy and can be stocked or cast immediately, you stock them to junction to your stats. Water is just really strong for an early draw, the best one being Demi from the optional Diablos fight.

Basically, make the game completely braindead because lil zoomzoom can't read text.

Transform monsters into cards to not get EXP and follow a Triple triad guide for rare cards to transform into great items.
It's incredible easy to break the game before at the end of disc one. Like one card transforms into 3 items that give your GF auto haste. boom. you are now twice as fast as the enemies for the rest of the game and immune to slow as a bonus.

Selfsame lillies now also turn into blood lillies via certain spells which can then be used for a big AoE attack. (Read: Lillies are still a pain in the arse to actively use).

I don't think it's possible to be "hype" or "doomposting" for a XIV expansion, unless you're completely delusional. The game has an incredibly rigid formula, to the point we can pinpoint what exact patch number content will appear in. You don't need to. PotD is a soul draining experience and it isn't fun at all to do level after level of it non stop. Just run dungeons and queue up while you do other things like dailies, crafting and gathering. It will take about 2-3 runs of a dungeon to level up if you are just queuing for the highest available level. Which actually isn't that long considering that dungeons are more fun, you'll be seeing different dungeons instead of the same one over and over, and you'll get some cool gear to add to your glamour dresser or trade in for seals. Seriously, don't PotD your way to cap, its only for autistic people.

Actually if you haven't been keeping up, people have been locking their exp at 110 and gearing the fuck up and then selling boosts in high level dungeons because they can annihilate content faster than level 120s. Also as gathering alts.
Blizzards' response was to nerf exp for ANYONE who is in a party with an exp locked character, so if one joins your random dungeon your fucked.

Raid team runs twice, one raid you bring your main and you get gear, the second raid you bring an alt and pass gear to mains. So two groups are running 50% mains and alts but only the mains get gear, meaning your mains gear up twice as fast.

That sounds overly autistic but okay. How the hell would removing Master Loot change that? The people playing alts could just pass on gear.

Secondary stats like haste are proportional to level, you would play fast as fuck at 110 then hit 111 and slow down to about half that speed and just get slower and slower from there. Abilities were pruned. At level 115 legendaries became inactive which lost you important passive interactions and in some cases changed your rotation for the worse.
You literally don't get any new spells or talents from 110-120, you just lose them.

Fucked up scaling and legendaries turning off at 116.

The last expansion gave everyone bullshit strong weapons that power up and have their own skill tree to fill up. It explodes at the end of the expansion and you lose the dozen passive and active abilities it gave you

No, refine magic from items using GF skills and play the game normally for your first playthrough. You should only be drawing when you see a new GF or a new spell on a boss that you think is rare.

If you sit there for 10 hours drawing magic and running away from every random encounter you're going to be in for a miserable experience.

Its not entirely the fault of the people who do this because FFVIII doesn't explain its mechanics very well, but unless you're the kind of person who enjoys completely breaking a game and steamrolling through it, drawing 100 of each spell is not the way to do it.

The loot system is enforced personal loot, meaning there is no loot or rolls, shit just pops up in your bags if you got lucky.
You can only pass items to somebody else if you already have a higher item level item equipped, if what you've got is your best item it's bound to you and you can't trade it.
One of the top raiding guilds worked around this by levelling up literally every profession on every character, alt and main, in their guild, to get high item level profession specific gear in their bags. This literally put them about $10,000 in debt borrowing the gold to pay for it and they had to buy out not just the profession materials from their own server but from other servers and paid Blizzard to transfer it all over with guild transfers. But they got world first Mythic Jaina so it was worth.

Last expansion had legendary pieces of equipment which in most cases, altered your playstyle for the better. Once you reach level 115, they just stop working, making your rotation go back to their shitty state, especially since the new system intended to replace legendaries (azerite armor), has literally nothing but passive boring traits, like 10% to get +X secondary stat on a spell cast.

Let me give you an example of how current FFXI has been ruined by yoshida himself most likely:
FFXI leveling used to be about creating a party and camping monsters. Partying with other people nerfed your exp gain so basically you had to choose between fighting weak monsters for exp, or fighting strong ones for exp in a party, the latter was usually better because the exp nerf from being in a party wasn’t enough to make it worse than the exp gain of soloing easier monsters.
Current FFXI introduced the trust system which gives players npc characters that join their party, on paper this honestly sounds amazing. Heres the problem though: trusts don’t nerf your exp gain, and furthermore partying with others still nerfs your exp gain. In other words you get more exp by soloing, so much to the point where max level is attainable in just a few days, when compared to actually partying with other people.

I’m impressed that so many people call this good design in an mmorpg.

I never played 1.0 but I did play in the closed beta. It was god awful. You might be able to trick people who never played 1.0 into thinking that there was something there worth saving but there wasn't. It was a laggy mess, gameplay wasn't fun, levequests were all you could do. I followed 1.0 after release to see if they fixed the problems from the beta and they never really did and things only started to get better after Yoshida took over. Fuck 1.0 and the people involved in it.

Just finished with HW MSQ (fought Thordan), how long is the post-HW in comparison with post-ARR? Probably shorter but thought i'd ask.

Shorter and more interesting. ARR didn't get interesting until Midgardsormer shows up. HW's patch content is interesting from start to finish and much less tedious. Stormblood has the shortest, most concise patch story content though.

Targeting a particular enemy can be a pain in the ass if there's plenty of them or in a trial like Steps of Faith, but healing is easy since you just need to press up or down to the person to heal, while AoE requires no thinking

The post-MSQ content doesn't give good exp. It's like 10k exp when previously you'd be getting chunks of 70k.

I'm saying that the original team that worked on 14 were terrible and their ideas were terrible and trying to pass off Tanaka as some kind of soulful artiste instead of an incompetent retard is deceptive. I didn't play between 1.0 and 2.0 but its generally agreed that the game got better after Yoshida came in. The game didn't even get an interface update until Yoshida fixed it. I'm not saying that all of 1.0 is bad, just that pre-Yoshida 1.0 is.
