Why is this allowed in AAA gaming? How come it's 2019 and mo-cap animations are still this horrendeous?
She looks like a twitching partially paralyzed person who woke up from a 20 year coma and starts to learn how to move.
Why is mo-cap still so bad?
Mo-cap is just a tool. If the people now how to use it the product will be fine, if they don’t you get whats shown in the video.
that's a canned animation with different voice acting superimposed over the top
they look awkward in any game they're in, but they can't afford to actually record mocap for every single conversation
>season pass
DROPPED

This was already revealed when they announced the editions but anyway, it's paradox. Did you really expect anything else?
That doesn't look like they used facial mocap at all also the animation isn't mo-cap for this conversation but just generic stand there and fidget animation.
Also

Better mocap actors and directors can help a lot too
ur a tool fgt
Its not mocap, I really doubt they'll have the budget for that.
Its probably a automated animation software that just follows the voice acting audio, you use it for early development builds or if you're Mass Effect Andromeda final builds.
>made by literally who Hardsuit Labs
>AAA
Also considering how shitty the first game was it's still a light year improvement and a fucking miracle for that garbage even getting a sequel.
>it's still a light year improvement
Well the facial animations in source are still superior but I do agree that it looks better in every other way.
it's the lack of eye muscle movement
that's what made expressions in the first impressive and lacking in this
eye muscle contractions are that thing whose absence makes smiles look fake
>expecting a good game from a dev that shits our 60/100 games regularly
fun fact the devs haven't made a single good game
can you explain more?
>How come it's 2019 and mo-cap animations are still this horrendeous
The devs are shit, the art direction is shit, and the game is unfinished (I don't have hopes it'll get better when it releases, but it's still a point for now).
Facial animations fucking kill me in this. First game had people express themselves with body language, eye movements - just remember that pout Jeanette does or how Jack shows his fangs when he smiles. That stays with you and makes you think of these characters as alive. The new game has literally nothing, just some mannequin flapping their lips.
In the end, it all boils down to this They have literally never made a good game. Why would it change now?
>the art direction is shit
What are you smoking, shit looks exactly like what I imagined a modern vampire game would look like. Art direction is really fuckin good, sloppy animation work has nothing to do with art dumbass.
Did this really happen in the game? I didn't know he was so based.
pretty sure it's one of the random prostitute scenes
>sloppy animation work has nothing to do with art dumbass
Oh really, genius? You don't think it'd look miles better if they went for a more stylized look like the original game, making room for exaggerated facial expressions and movements that made the first game look so good? Now VTMB2 looks as bland as fucking Vampyr, and that's a fucking shame when you have the first game to look up to.
>Did this really happen in the game? I didn't know he was so based.
Yep, IIRC the people in the mo-cap are a husband and wife, so they were able to be a bit frisky.
>You don't think it'd look miles better if they went for a more stylized look like the original game
No I don't actually but that's entirely subjective. What's objective is the relation between animations and art direction which you seemed to have misunderstood.
people with ASD and psychopaths also tend to look at eyes less and therefore be worse at recognizing emotion
It didn’t, they cut the sex scenes.
maybe the devs are just shit?
This game looks like it will run on toasters and that's a good thing
How come I've seen this exact same one then
rudi
What a horrible flop this game will be.
is this a meme?
This. It doesn't need to be perfect, just good enough so it's not distracting.
No need for autismo else you waste resources on the wrong things.
Just like the original then.
>No need for autismo else you waste resources on the wrong things.
This is why I could never make a game, I'd be just like Kojima, taking way too much time on something as simple as a 10 second cutscene.
NuJack sucks
Why do people think this game is ugly? It looks really good, especially the lighting. It's also comfy for me since I live in Seattle.
i genuinely dont correlate paradox with season passes or dlc
it seems like you would substitute whatever company it is and say teh same thing
which is fucked fuck planned DLC, plan for it but sell it when the cunt comes out not when you release your fucking game FUCK
thats LITERALLY all you need to do for people to get off your ass about season passes
wtf
Geralt boned Ciri?
It's algorithm driven animation, so they can have the lip syncing work across all voiced languages easily. The only game that really did a good job of this was Witcher 3
>genuine look of excitement on her face
brb buying mocap stuff RIGHT NOW
She looks about as real as my sex doll.
It's like a caricature of every SJW bullshit imaginable.
Apparently, he was based off of a real guy.
Remember, when vampires were busy talking about Gehenna and Antideluvians and playing 4D chess with each other over turfs?
You'll be pleased to know that no one liked V5
Yet VtMB2 still takes cues from V5 plotlines apparently. With the destruction of the Pyramid and shit.
Pretty sure I've seen a sex doll just like her
No no no, you see... vampires are really concerned about social justice and about Dah Wall! Apparently that's what neigh immortal beings with a short window of only 5-8 hours per night do, try to get into petty mortal politics about race.
It's a game made in 2019 by a bunch of Seattle SJWs. You take what you get. I am still surprised that she actually somewhat resembles a classically attractive white female. She very well could've been a purplehaired whale.
i dont remember Geralt wearing Nike shoes
Is mo cap the reason why people in assassins creed Egypt game look so bad?
That's the same thing I was thinking when I saw her. She looks exactly like those sex dolls look like. It's fitting that she has robotic movement too lmfao.
5th Edition of Vampire the Masquerade is a book that unironically uses such phrases as "nazi" and "cishet white male". Whaddya think?
I always tend to ignore the hamfisted memes and political in games but it looks like it will be nigh impossible with this game
Then you didn't pay attention.
It is weird a basically WHO developer gets to develop Bloodlines 2. Project's sole claim to fame is "look, we got Mitsoda onboard" which is just silly.
>mfw portraying vampires with piercings
what are the odds so many vampires would have piercings while they were still mortal so they'd carry over? keep in mind that in wod a vampire's material body reverts to how it was before the embrace aka if you were embraced with long hair and beard that's how you'll wake up looking every night.
>tfw i recognise this scene just from the mocap
Because its made by a shitty developer for an incredibly shitty TRPG? Take everything cool about 2077 coming up, turn it massively ghey, and this game is the result.
Honestly, we don't know. V5 is a SJW-ridden crap, but the game has nothing to do with that. There were some red flags raised when devs told the press that they will be "taking political stances over some of the themes" but current CP2077 situation proves that media loves taking words out of context and exaggerate if it fits their political agenda.
Maybe it's gonna be the like Pathfinde: Kingmaker - devs were forced to shoehorn in some SJW representation by infamously woke Paizo, but otherwise were steering as far away from the politics as possible. Doubt that's gonna be the case with VtMB2, but still.
Presentation can go a long way. Look at Darkest Dungeon and Vermintide, gameplay is quite simple yet the art style, characters, music etc. carries the game. 6/10 can easily become a 7 or even an 8 with good implementation of VtM franchise.
Vampire is inherently a "row row fight the power" game. Hell, the entirety of WoD is about having some special power that makes you a complete outsider from normal society and then you use that to fight some oppressive power
For vampires, that oppressive power is older vampires but for stuff like werewolves, it's big corporations and pollution
A newly made Kindred might. The real problem is that Rudi is just some upstart fag that is apparently "feared" despite just being some neonate shitter. Being a gay Muslim also makes no fucking sense at all
>Why is mo-cap still so bad?
It is not really. It is just real time rendering and then usually cause of cost not having the ability to mo cap multiples of the same thing done by different people meaning that usually they need to just heavy handily work less than an handful of the things over way to many characters.
So then characters not of the size or build like those who did the mo cap look far to weird and stilted since it not being as close to 1 to 1 with each other just comes out as weird and not as good looking. So really and ideally though way to cost prohibitive each character being mocaped by someone who is meant to look like the characters people see on screen would be the the only way for shit to not look as off putting as you seem to find they way current shit is done.
You can make changes permanent, but it takes effort. There's lore about some vampires shaving themselves bald and making it permanent so they can just use wigs whenever they want a new hairdo.
Or they could just be fakes/clip-ons.
EUIV and CK2 spring to mind.
Is that only through vicissitude, or are there other means?
Because the first game actually had handcrafted dialog scenes for each line, while the second one seems to opt for that modern "choose from a list based on character's mood or disposition during said line".
original flopped because hl2 took all the attention, this one might flop just because it's lower in quality. although i actually doubt it will totally flop, but it'll be a disappointment since it won't live up to the original's quality in multiple ways.
That'd be 10 crowns
Powerful Ravnos can shape reality a bit.
>people in assassins creed Egypt game look so bad?
Aren't they randomly generated?
I put my faith in mods to fix this
You're probably right. Even not hearing the VA I can see how her body language accentuates the line itself with a shrug, pouting face, etc. It's a nondescript dialog line #24 the way Bloodlines 2 seems to do it. Sure, you can see Jeanette slip into default smirking stance at the end, but that's it.
Yeah, in previous editions this fucker would be dusted by some Sabbat pack without a second thought or would be used as a "useful idiot" by Camarilla. In V5 this guy is feared by "the system", because he cares about vampire gay rights and fights the mysogyny of the Kindred? Who the fuck cares? They are VAMPIRES.
It probably varies by edition, but I'm pretty sure you can just spend Willpower or something to prevent a wound from healing. Including tattoos/piercings/etc. And if you do, it becomes permanent.
Might be mixing things up though.
The hub looks really great, but holy fuck the combat seems clunky as shit and as for the facial animations, well that shit looked abysmal.
What kind of ancient kindred would embrace someone like that though? Typically you'd either want a childer to be loyal to the clan or to be cannon fodder during a vampire civil war, they can also be used as a sort of "emotional tampon" if you're getting really lonely but most vampires choose to go to sleep when that happens.
It's supposed to be used as a base for animators to refine
Maybe he's an "illegal Embrace". That would explain why he is retarded with regards of vampiric priorities.
Look, don't overthink it - some British asshole writer wanted to put his black Muslim gay friend in a game and consequences and lore be damned.
Honest question, is anyone actually interested in the VTM lore, or do people like this series because of Bloodlines and its RPG mechanics/vampire simulation gameplay?
>interested in the VTM lore
I was interested because of Bloodlines, now with the SJW shit White Wolf is pulling out, not so much.
when I run games, I usually dispense with a lot of the metaplot, but it's nice to have details of the world filled in if you need them
VtM was sometimes criticized for having too much metaplot, but that's not as much of a problem for videogames
I am. VtM Revised was my bread and butter back in my high school days. There is a reason I hate V5 and its retarded story wish a burning passion.
people like the additional lore. vtmb was kind of designed in a way to hit people new to the lore hard and fast and leave them wanting more. they just don't care enough about the lore itself for it to stand on its own in a game and would rather have something closer to the original if the difference is that big.
I've spent like 5 hours reading VTM lore on the wiki because Bloodlines was such a great vampire simulator.
So guys who play the tabletop, I am reading though 20th anniversary edition and like half of the Disciplines seem really gamebreaking even with botch probability or really quirky for GM to handle (you have mind reading that makes you come up with Nostradamus style vague shit). And I'm not even trying to imagine how this works in LARP! Does that really work better in action? Do Mages and Fairies really have even more ridiculous powers?
Also, holy shit, Gangrel really seem like a furry's wet dream.
It works the other way around too. Wonder what happens when your GM has a problem with you?
Imagine 80% of your disciplines not working properly or having an opposite effect than what you intended. I've been there. Thankfully, VtM is not a combat-heavy game.
Mage 2E is hell as a GM, at least initially
Entire stories might revolve around a murder mystery, but a any Moros can just see how someone died by touching a corpse, and being slightly better will let them see their last sight, visit the moment of the crime with Time magic, maybe read suspects minds with low level Mind magic, search suspects homes with Space magic...many basic challenges get trivialized by a Mages core abilities of getting easy info and seeing through illusions
