Kiryu doesn’t kill
What about that helicopter he shot down?
cause its fun to play pretend and just virtually do stuff in a setting with no consequences
>when you accidentally disable adblock when watching anri javs
Yes and that's a good thing
They apologized to Kiryu once on the ground
Organized crime is awesome go get a slice of it I know I did
I don't think it glamourises it. While it doesn't showcase it in a completely negative light, you can clearly see that the Yakuza guys you fight are messed up in the head.
Considering you don't bang any prostitutes, it doesn't really glamourise it. The few you meet seem friendly enough, which is about as much experience I have with them irl. So it's somewhat realistic, neither glamourising, nor discouraging.
if it did
what would be the problem with that?
You're asking the most morally bankrupt site on the internet what their favorite method of child rape is
>mfw that video where three ex-yakuza try to open a noodle shop in tokyo
I watched this recently. It's pretty cool seeing that in japan, jail actually works and they're trying to be good lads now despite everything working against them.
what video?
There is an interview with 3 real life yakuza who tried the games. They really liked it, especially the narratives, since it makes it very clear yakuza aren't good people, but it's a lot more complex than that.
This. IRL, yakuza actually do things like help during disasters and keep petty crime more or less non-existent in Japan. Of course, they still deal in things like prostitution, money laundering, human trafficking and worse. They also keep much more dangerous gangs in check, like the Chinese Triads. They're just a normal part of Japanese life. Generally, as long as you stay out of their way, they stay out of yours.
How big is the series in Japan? I imagine a lot bigger than the west?
Link?
They’re still mobsters in the end of the day regardless they occasionally help society a little bit. But yeah they’re a great deterrents to the triads.
What are politicians or policemen? All bullys working to protect someone else's dollar. Can't trust no one
It glamourises mahjong and karaoke
>While it doesn't showcase it in a completely negative light
It does though. Multiple people are shown murdering people constantly, Hamazaki literally blows up a restaurant just because the guy didn't pay his bills in time, Majima nearly kills people several times, Saejima did attempt to kill people without remorse and technically did, Katsuragi murdered tons of people, Kazama is a hitman who killed countless amounts of people, Arase is a hitman, they hire the Amon clan to kill people they need dead, Sera shot multiple people dead, Daigo has iced multiple people, you have one or two substories where you have to stop guys from getting concrete shoes, and so on.
We're constantly shown through substories there's no remorse for immigrants, especially illegal immigrants where they get sold into prostitution just so they can get their ID that was stolen back and they have to do it for years, Little Asia is essentially only functioning because Tanimura is funding it. Then you also have people dealing drugs from time to time and there's constant debt collectors or people strongarming local business. Look at Akiyama, multiple times he was attacked by the local yakuza gangs because he set up Sky Finance in their neck of the woods without paying them a fee, or he was attacked because his interest-free loans were keeping them from extorting money from people. You also have people like Kiryu who went around beating the hell out of people to collect debts.
Then we're shown constantly that no one has any respect for anyone, Daigo gets betrayed every single game, and Daigo betrays his people as well in 4, and Majima is money laundering via Kamuro Hills. Hell, in 3 you had Black Monday making a deal with the Tojo Clan behind Daigo's back so that they could influence the government into taking over Kiryu's orphanage.
Most organised crime syndicates do some shit to keep the public's perception of them up while simultaneously taking their money through fraud and other crimes. It's just easier to steal from people when they don't distrust you.
Kinda feels like you and everyone else just gloss over the whole human trafficking/sex slavery thing.
Not at all, yakuza are monsters. Still, I've lived in absolute shitholes where stabbings and robberies were a daily affair. I'd take the yaks over that any day. Because the yaks won't randomly shiv you for 10 bucks. Especially foreigners, they avoid them if the can.
Thanks
I saw Yakuza 6 substories videos in japanese getting a million views each. It's surprisingly relevant.
Western sales have broken even with Japanese sales recently, but that speaks more to the size of Japan more than anything
It's the best thing Japan has created since the micro transistor
Absolutely. Sega also has direct ties to the Yakuza. However, the Like a Dragon series also heavily criticizes the Yakuza, the Japanese government, Japan's economy, etcetera. The mob they depict is both cruel and almost cartoonishly evil while being noble and champions of their neighborhoods. Some exception has to be made for you as a protagonist as you are the hero of the story and as such the game must be tailored to suit the innate desire to please that most humans have.
I already want someone to make a game out of it. Shit just writes itself, Gordon Ramsay cameo included.
