The context of SMT is that YHVH is a demon molded by human subconscious into believing he's a God and abusing that role to maintain his power over all the other demons. He is the Demiurge.

The thread is JRPG often feature god as the final boss, but they're never an omnipotent being, they're always a monster in the guise of a God. And many of these cases, like SMT or the Xeno series, there's an actual proper God God backing up the protoganist. So then when is God really the final boss?

Be a bit careful with that capitalization. God with a capital G is the name of the Christian god, who Christians believe is the one true god and the only god. Also, whether you consider a demon a god or not is only a matter of perspective.

If they were omnipotent, they'd be impossible to oppose. So obviously you can't have the absolute supreme god as the final boss. The Abrahamic god, YHVH, who functions as a demiurge within the SMT universe, is maybe the closest you can get, unless you got some dualism shit going on.
