What did you think of this years' E3? Worst yet? Or is there worse yet to come?

The worst, might be better next year if there are some videogames. If not then god help us.
>the year is 2021
>the US government has made loot boxes illegal, and defined digital items as regulated securities
>no games have been shown at E3 in years
>publishers in disarray, their stock prices have collapsed
>everyone who knew how to make games have long since left, replaced by diversity hires who only know how to recycle assets between annualized releases
>this is the video game crash of 2021
>everyone who knew how to make games have long since left, replaced by diversity hires who only know how to recycle assets between annualized releases
been like that for a few years already unfortunately
Worst E3 ever but best supercut in terms of editing, that intro was amazing
There's been much worse. But this one was definitely the most boring.
You've all seemingly forgotten they're pushing really hard for streaming as the next big thing while censorship and politics are running ever more rampant. There's MUCH worse yet to come.
It was the worst but not because it had no games or only bad ones.
It was the worst e3 because nothing was new or exciting and because censorship and she propaganda now is even forced upon Game developers
Yeah it's going to get more stupid, ugly, and casual, but I have faith that indies will start gaining some power and whip out what they and we the people want. There's big gaping hole of what made gaming great and what's been delivered since 2010
I lost my goddamn mind when it showed Elon smoking pot, pure genius
There is always worse yet to come. this year's E3 felt empty, and not because Sony skipped it.
Elon and Todd. Retard babies at large.
Can't wait
I don't care, just don't do a video on Borderlands 3 for the sake of everyone's groaning chords.
Why would he do that?
>Worst yet?
No, not while Sony's E3 2006 conference exists. You know, the conference that was so bad that Sony convinced the people who run E3 to make it an invite only event, so they could personally curate the crowds/journalists allowed to cover it live? Basically ensuring that all game related journalism is the de facto PR/Marketing wing of the gaming industry? This was a decision that E3 only recently reversed, by the way. There was also the E3 2010 show, which had Konami's weird as fuck (but highly entertaining) show, as well as Microsoft's equally weird yet much more horrible conference centered on the Kinect, the worst peripheral ever made.
That said, this E3 feels like a sign of things to come. There were some good conferences, and even some good games, but it all felt so familiar. Forget that the biggest thing Squeenix had to show was a remake they announced 5 years ago, basically nothing original was unveiled. Sony not even showing up is basically them admitting that they've got nothing. Games take so long to make and are so expensive that no big company can take a risk anymore. So they're all stuck in the rut of yearly franchises, sequels, remakes, and reboots. And since sunk cost fallacy has taken hold, nothing can ever die. They're still pouring money and effort into the tire fires that are Fallout 76 and Anthem. EA's attempt to turn gaming into a digital casino designed to trick children out of their parent's money backfired so hard that now the industry doesn't know what it can legally do, monetization wise. So for now they're stalling and throwing out platitudes like, "This game wont have lootboxes!" as if we should be thankful that they're not doing something that they shouldn't be doing. It's so fucked. This massive, multi-billion dollar industry has no fucking clue where it's going or what it wants to be. That's worrying.
That's why I think this might be the worst E3 ever, not for the actual content but for the trends on display. At least with those other shitty conferences they were showing actual new games and legitimate tech developments that didn't exist purely to separate you from your money
>Worst yet
You've gotta be kidding. This was so much better than some past E3s like 2008 or 2012.
2010 was def the worst but I'll miss those days in the years to come when E3 is all about mobile, "surprise mechanics", braindead indies, games as "service", etc. Consumers are such cucks
Why did Snyder insist on that fucking sterile blue filter? Jesue Christ what a back
This E3 was surprisingly great. I only watched Microsoft and Nintendo though
>surprise mechanics
I laugh, in part because EA's a fucking clown but also in part because I'm nervous about stepping foot into an even worse decade than the shitshow we're about to leave behind.
Yeah I can't say I'm excited about the future. Games are only getting longer and more expensive to produce, and that means publishers have to get as much money as possible out of them. This means lootboxes, cash shops, oceans of pointless cosmetics. That means your big game has to be multi-player or have some kind of multi-player component. And it also means that the game has to be just enjoyable enough to be playable, but just dull enough to coax people into paying to get around the tedium. The last Assassin's Creed was the test to see if we'd let that kind of "Pay to avoid tedium" shit come in to single-player games, and we failed.
And don't count on the law intervening. The solution to a lootbox ban is a Fortnite style endless grind for cosmetics rife with FOMO traps and a multiplayer game that demands all of your free time. That shit is already cropping up, because it works and people don't see it as a bad thing. After all, a consistent aesthetic never made anyone Fortnite levels of money. It's like choosing whether you want to be tortured to death, or if you want to just get your head cut off. There's no winning.
I was surprised by how well Nintendo did but I think my standards have been annihilated
I pray normies will get bored too and there will be a minor industry crash where the motherfuckers realize they have to start making fun games again
i'm sorry i doubted you crowbcat
it was just boring. Not really bad. Just... nothing special. I expect next year to be much better
You faggots have been memeing crash for like 10 years now. It aint happening unless some external factor occurs like the american economy suddenly going to shit.
It was bad but not as bad as last years. Ubisoft's was fucking awful though. Some companies never change
give it another 10
Normies will always buy the latest sports games no matter what. It will never happen.
And there will always be dumbass kids to take their place once the novelty wears off. Where muh 8k ya'll? Is better than 4
It was the worst E3 simply because E3 2020 did not happened yet.
Unrelated but crowbcat, how do you feel about Max Payne 3?
Darling fans deserve the rope
youtube.com
I'd be impressed if they ever make a presentation worst than this one
no they scrpted the whole thing
the content was just shit
I don't know how crowbcat has the stomach to sit through all the footage. Just watching his video was already difficult for me.
