Literally dealing with billion dollar IPs. Dont forget that even Pokemon in Smash was originally a huge endeavor, seeing as GameFreak had to approve everything. Probably less so now. That said, Incineroar got some colorful alts, dunno why Pikachu or Jigglypuff couldn't unless its just legacy/laziness.

not really about a particular alt but i miss wario's lost 4 alts, mainly sailor wario, i hate that samurai forced all costumes back down to 8
its even weirder because they cut wario's costumes down in 4 yet little mac still had a full 16, 8 and 8 for regular and wireframe and even that got cut down in ultimate

I think it’s just the music rights that are screwy. They’re owned by the composer and not the company, which sounds great in principle and is probably how things should be. But it fucks stuff up for smash cause getting the rights to a si gle ff song is supposed to be absurdly expensive.

The SOLDIER alts are fine, as they're distinctive enough, and the blue and red ones are even based on Class 3 and 2 Soldier uniforms. Cloudy Wolf alts suck though.

speaking of final smashes, am i the only one who's bugged about Pit's FS in Ultimate, it's just the dragoon, and it's from exclusively uprising, instead of being the Three Sacred Treasures, the weapon he's had since the first NES game

also i think DK's final smash should've had more jungle beat finesse to it, like jungle vines around the screen, or have the DK bongos appear on the bottom of the screen for some kind of reference (they even remodeled the bongo's so they should've done that

I think the worst part about this and Link's other tunic alts is how they colored the skin of his legs to match the pants. Like he painted his legs or something. I get that they think it'd look a bit silly otherwise, but I honestly think it'd actually be less ridiculous if they just left his legs bare like in the default green tunic alt.

the problem with BotW link design is the genericness of his outfit, Blue is used so much in the game that he doesn't stand out or anything from the rest of the characters, the green tunic and hat is a indistinguishable trademark of the character.

Yes, but then we run into the issue of it doesn't make sense for Door-kun to use Eiha, or rebel's guard, or a grappling hook, or a gun with bullets, and he's never shown to be as nimble as Joker. If you go out of your way to change all these things then he's not an echo anymore.
