I have never been as fucking hyped for a character in smash as I am for the hero.

We don't even know what 5 of their specials are. They could have a healing spell for mana to reduce their % making them a pug-stomper, they could have Bedragon for absolute hype. They could use poison status or debuffs to mess with enemy stats, etc etc.

Dragon Warrior 3 on the GBC was one of my childhood RPG's that I adore to this day. My boy Loto getting in is something I never even dreamed of and he looks fun as fuck to boot.

Back when Melee came out, we were years away from a Fire Emblem game making it West. Instead of complaining that some guys they never heard of were in the game, they were excited to learn more about Fire Emblem. FE wouldn't be as big as it is today if it wasn't for it being cross-promoted to people who didn't have a reason to care about it.

Compare that to Dragon Quest, a game that already sold millions in the US despite not being as iconic as Final Fantasy: "jesus christ fuck off *groan*", along with people wanting to see characters like Cuphead and 2B. The Smash audience has gone from people ~interested~ in the legacy of these games who were open to learning more about the hobby to people who want pop culture regurgitated back to them over and over.

Giving someone seven specials, especially if they turn out to be good, is serious bullshit. If he could easily recover MP he risks being broken because disjoints + shield + auto-fucking-reflect + all the other shit.

It set the standard for a console JRPG. There were JRPGs before DQ, but they were only on less accessible PCs and of lower polish due to the PCs being built for work and not games and lack of budget of PC developers.

They're kinda inseparable if you think about it. Prior to its revitalization with Awakening, Sakurai breathed life into the series. I loved learning about Marth and Roy when Melee came out because the internet was smaller and learning about Nintendo games I had never heard of before was a cool concept (trophies were bad ass for this reason too). Now I only ever want characters who are similarly niche at the time (Isaac, Andy, Alexandra, Starry, Ray, etc.), but now all that I get are more Mario and FE characters (but never the ones I want) and more jrpg protags with swords (DQ is cool tho seeing as its at least the mac daddy). Maybe in some alternate timeline Smash stayed more in-house with HAL and didn't deviate so far from Melee, both from a gameplay and roster design.

it looks like they might run on an ammo system, not just for Gold Feathers/Wonderwing but for Eggs and Recovery as well (everytime Banjo double jumps in the trailer, a red feather falls out of Kazooie just like a Gold Feather does during Wonderwing)

They're not super gimmicky like a lot of modern fighters tend to be, but they still end up looking pretty unique for such basic characters. Unless they actually do have some kind of gimmick we don't know about.

As diverse as the Hero may be, so far he has nothing that works exactly like Thoron, or Nosterafu, or Elwind. Dragon Quest and Fire Emblem are quite different from each other despite some similarities, and this is clearly reflected in how magic is handled with both Hero and Robin. As for how good the Hero is, we still don’t know how exactly MP works as pointed out.

No it doesn't. A lot of BK's moves - including the double jump - have multiple feathers fall off Kazooie. They're small and red with yellow tips, and don't match the collectable red feathers from BK. It's supposed to be her actual plumage, and is included just to add a little more visual flair to some of their moves. When they use her egg firing attack, the same feathers fall off her, and Feathery Flap didn't cost Red Feathers in BK/BT either - it makes no sense for either of those moves, especially something as basic as a double-jump, to be bound to Red Feathers.

The Gold Feathers that fall off Kazooie during Wonderwing are identical to the collectable Gold Feathers from the games, and fall off in the exact same way (one at a time) - we also see a little bar that indicates how many Gold Feathers she has left, which doesn't happen with any of her attacks. I guess maybe the eggs could be limited ammo, but we get no indication of that from the trailer - the only confirmed ammo are Gold Feathers, and there's absolutely nothing to suggest that Red Feathers are used at all.

I’m prepared for it just to be the Overture and Adventure, but the fact they were able to acquire symphonic music has me cautiously optimistic that we might actually see a decent track list for the series (or at least a better one than Final Fantasy).

Marth and Roy don't use any other weapons than swords in game, so it's okay, but what about everyone else, Lucina and Chrom when promoted can use Lances, and Ike can use Axes.

But why does Robin use Nosferatu, a tome he can't use normally in Awakening, S/He has to reclass to a dark mage.
