Just go in the file directory and swap out the jpg's, as long as they're the same file-size it will accept it, that's how you edit the spritesheets and such

After a bit of trial and error the controls become natural.
Officially? No. But there are 2 English quality of life mods now that help that out.
Elona+ Custom: which translates most of the main story and adds the disabled cutscenes back in.
Elona+ Custom G: Add more translations, and everything else AT LEAST has a glanced over machine translation.

On top of the translations, both of those add actual QoL features.
Custom adds things like customizable pet AI using simple conditional coding logic. Like if player HP < 50% heal and the like
Custom G has all the Custom stuff, plus reverts some of the devs less liked mechanics and nerfs

Get yourself some good Claws and fully upgrade them, make them Adamantium if you can
Get Marksman to 60? to get Fury, which gives 2x damage
