What's the point?
No detachable joycons

>That is the point
It's for mega-casuals who don't want too many accessories for their console and just wanna put in a game and play.
"portability"
people who bought the switch before the mini revision are probably going to rage on how cheaper and better the new one is
Price cut
It's for the same people who bought the 2ds
Spf, call me when it isn't an underpowered indie station
>when joycons have the highest failure rate of any first party controller ever
That'll be $200 plus tip when they break in a month
>more comfort
>more portability
>d-pad
The point will be being $200 cheaper.
Sorry I meant to say being $100 cheaper, so $200 total
People gonna buy Switch Minis on Ebay get switch gamepads
Fuck I was hoping for a beefier one, not a veggies one
Lower manufacturing costs for an SKU meant to appeal to those who want a handheld-focused machine to begin with. Idiot.
Not a chance. It'll be $250. The Pro will be $350. They'll only get cheaper than that when sales start to slow down.
Japan already had a switch without a dock, and a charger, for $250. They will go lower if they are ditching the joycons.
Its cutting hd rumble, detachable controllers, the dock, the IR sensor, a smaller screen and because of a smaller screen a smaller battery.
>same specs
>smaller screen
>no detachable joycons
yeah dude totally
>he doesn't leave his switch docked 24/7
Are you literally retarded?
The joycons break like no controller I've ever had. No way they would be non detachable.
might actually be worth something if it can actually fit in my pocket
They'd be fools to go with a smaller battery. With all of that cut hardware and the same battery you'd probably double the battery life, seems ideal for a handheld-only device.
My Joycon keeps drifting, what do Yea Forums?
>wanting those baby ass joycons
Glad they're gone.
I could see a middle ground where the battery life goes up to 3.5-4 hours but theyre not gonna waste money on a 6 hour battery life when most people don't care.
it wouldn't be a joycon.
It would just be a control scheme attached to a handheld just like literally any other handheld.
Is Switch hackable yet? If I get get emulates through like PS1 or MAYBE PS2 Id buy this
Glad I waited
You can hack it but you won't be able to play online so it's not a good idea yet.
So that's why they haven't announced any new colors lately. Fuckers I JUST WANT GAMECUBE PURPLE COME ON
NO SOURCE FUCK OFF IT WON’T HAPPEN FAGGOT
Yes it's hackable, yes it plays ps1, 64 and pretty much everything behind it. but not ps2.
>joycons known to drift after repeated use
>cant get new ones on this one since its built into the machine
lole
I already have a switch but depending on the price point it might be worth it grab for an all in one portable. I wouldnt use online anyway.
That or a grab a Vita
only models from before June 2018 or so.
better snatch up a used one quick buddy
>he docks his switch at all
>joycons
kys
Mine is always docked but if mini has better specs with ability to connect on tv then ill sell my original swtich
It okay, the Pro controller makes up for it by being nearly as good as Xbone Pro but half with price and with rechargeable that last 40 hours
Yes you can play online with a hacked switch. you just have to be careful and take extra precautions. you can't play pirated games thought, but if you want to buy a few legit games for online and pirate single player you can.
I'm full blown banned though. i would never consider paying even 5 dollars for Nintendo's atrocious online service and none of their games have good multiplayer any ways.
>people were waiting for a revision before buying, instead of getting a launch-model
Enjoy having to pay for games, for your unhackable device.
i don't think you know what a joycon is.
And they'll pass $50 of that savings on to the consumer and pocket the rest for as long as it sells well, then drop the prices only when the early adopters dry up.
Its okay, Switch Pro about as good as Xbone controller, half the price and has rechargeable battery with 40 hr life. Worth it.
This helps get more switches in the hands of kids, cheaper entry means more units means more confidence from 3rd party devs.
I think it's dumb, and pretty much worse is every way I struggle with how small the switch screen already is. I will however drop £350 for a pro model. With the 3 models out there is a switch for everyone and that can't be a bad thing. Also if all you want to play is pokemon and a few nintendo ips this could be the way to go for 3ds owners wanting a newer console.
They need a cheap model for the Pokemon audience.
Also costs twice as much as has compatability issues with PC
just get cheap replacement ones because they're more or less the same quality as nintendo's shitty joycons
the joycons suck and an handled that big feel like shit anyway
I dont think you know what im talking about
the sticks are known to drift on joycons
Fuck no, mine is hacked. Pirating every game and emulating old stuff, eat shit minifags.
This
I wouldn't miss the joycons at all but I would miss being able to connect it to a TV.
Not sure about that, I thought the second biggest general complaint about the Switch after the joycon drift was the battery life, could just be wishful thinking on my part though.
Nintendo online is fucking garbage. I played Splatoon to death, Smash is better with friends
Only slight regret for being superbanned is Mario Maker 2
Which is why it'll be $250. That's what they'll market as "the cheap model".
You think Nintendo can afford the copper wire to literally fix the Joycon issue?
youtube.com
>Your drifting joycon is now permanent.
Y-yay...
isn't the 3DS the cheap model? thats the price of a current console $250
This
What does drifting mean? Out of its seat?
I wish they made a Switch Pro first. Been waiting for an improved version but all these games coming up within the next few months will make me crack
The Switch is still $299 US rrp, just available for a bit less.
you ever use a ps3/4 or xbone controller and the stick starts fucking up? good luck opening apart the switch to replace it
Maybe they can get it down to $150? If it cant connect to tv no need for the stronger chip. Remove the joycons and obviously no dock. If they want the 3ds audience they gotta bring it down in price
>not waiting for the revision so that the price of the original will drop
>Mini
Nope, don't give a shit about that one. I'll probably replace mine with a Switch Pro though.
New 2ds is the best version of the 3ds
It's actually pretty easy to open and replace
Bullshit that such an expensive thing breaks but you can DIY it
To cut out a couple of joycon components and have a slightly smaller screen and no dock to reduce the price
I also doubt this will result in $100 of savings
I'll just wait until the switch pro comes out and if I like that one i might buy it
>joycon drifting
>when there won't be any need for wireless communication between the console and controllers
Were your parents related? Like, before they were married?
Splatoon 2 is fucking great though
No I've never had a stick start fucking up except for a well loved N64 one. Nothing recent. In what way does it start fucking up? Mechanically loose? Poor responsiveness? Sticks?
Is this actually real or just a fan mockup like the last "leak"?
This, the Joycon's control stick is a cheap piece
of shit, this sounds like a nightmare.
I mean yeah it's not that difficult but I know I broke mine trying.
whole thread literal fake news filled with falseflagging faggots. imagine having to cope that hard with Switch's ongoing success
>Switch Pro
They're not going to make one, and if they do it will be like the N3DS and not any kind of noticeable upgrade.
Releasing a new model that is more powerful will just splinter its customer base and hurt development. Developers will now have to choose to either ignore the new model that only a small fraction of the overall userbase has, defeating the purpose, or they have to spend more time and money essentially making two builds of the game, one of which will only be played, again, by a small fraction of their customers.
It’s a neat gimmick, but let’s face it, nobody used the Joycons with the Switch docked unless it’s mandatory. It would be cool to have a Switch Mini bundled with a Pro Controller
You smug little faggot, the joycon drift has nothing to do with wireless. It's the cheap components of the stick itself grinding down / getting debris in them. Fuck off back to re ddit if you don't know what you're talking about.
>THE JOYCONS
>GUIZ THE JOOOOOOYCOOOOONS
They won't be fucking Joycons, you insipid muppets. It'll be one board like every other fucking handheld.
What is the PS4 Pro? What is the Xbox One X?
But it'll probably use the same shitty parts for control sticks
>That'll be $249.99 plus tip, charger and dock not included. =)
A Pro revision has been rumored as much as this cheap shit. Just dock specs in handheld would be enough.
Not to mention all those other variations on the XBO like the XBOS and XBOSAD.
Are you mentally retarded or just a fucking idiot?
>they won't make a more powerful console
Beside nintendo will make a mini and pro version even if they say they won't.
The same way they said the "3ds won't get replace by the switch"
>XBOSAD.
Still makes me kek. Not really the same though since those variants make no difference to developers.
>What is the PS4 Pro?
An unnecessary mid-gen refresh that's barely more powerful and only exists so Sony could sell the PS4 for $400 again
>What is the Xbone X?
A $500 "4k" console that sells at a loss
Why would you want Nintendo to do this too? Why do you want to buy another version of the console you already own?
So many games run like shit on the base PS4 and Xbone because developers don't want to spend the extra time and money making two different, optimized builds of the game for two different versions of the same console. With PC and possibly a Switch version too, that's five or six builds of the game they have to spend time and money producing. We'd be better off with the base consoles and just optimizing well for those.
>The same way they said the "3ds won't get replace by the switch"
Been over two years and it still hasn't, so I don't know why you'e even harping on this.
They'll do a slim/mini Switch at some point but I don't see them doing a significantly more powerful Switch and intentionally leaving 40-50 million owners pissed they can't play the new Mario.
>mini
>better specs
This is the equivalent of 2DS next to 3DS. It's the cheap entry-level console just in time for holiday season when kids are all asking for a Switch.
Nintendo won't outright say the 3DS is discontinue because it's still selling.
Any smart businesses wouldn't ever say that product is being discontinue till they can't make any money on it.
First party support is done once the remaining games that come out is done.
You might see few third party games being made to sell the large Nintendo 3DS user base.
no detachable joycons and dock (plus whatever else they cut, maybe hd rumble) means they could afford a better battery and thus increase the clocks on the chip, so it could have better specs
Consoles find the most success when they successfully revise them and remove features that seem the most redundant or are an easy pill to swollow for consumers in order to make them more affordable and reach the hands of more people. Also, it looks like ass when plugged into a 4k tv and the normal human controller is sold separately and is overpriced
The 3DS has been a loss ever since A9LH. It's a hacker's paradise and the second coming of PSP-tier piracy. As far as profit goes it's practically dead. Also
>320x240 in 2020
Even Fisher Price toys have higher resolution.
>Switch pro for PC
>not using the superior WiiU pro
>no 3D
What's the point?
glad to see nintendo has finally given up and just made a PSP
The Tegra X1 is getting a revision later this year, it will be more power efficient and have higher clock speeds. So far, it was leaked for the Shield TV, but it could be used on the Switch mini too.
Nvidia also has another Tegra in the works, apparently going to be used for a new hybrid Shield Tablet. Leaked specs put it roughly on par with the base Xbox One, so maybe it will be shared with the Switch Pro.
Let's hear why though
>divides player base by making motion controls unusable
thanks nintendo
Motion controls are cancer, good riddance.
I doubt nintendo is gonna pick the newest tegra, they could've used the X2 for the original model but they didn't. I expect just slightly higher clocks if anything
They still sell millions of them every year, same with the games. People still buy the games even if adult incels on Yea Forums pirate. Morons have been spouting
>3DS is DEEEEEEEAD
For over two years now. And when it finally does go in another year or two, they'll say
>HA! told you so XDDDD
Even though the thing will be 9-10 years old at that point.
>The Tegra X1 is getting a revision later this year
Cool, so it'll be in a hypothetical Switch revision in another 1-2 years
Why do you think they'll magically have new Switches out that use that shit if its literally just hitting the market?
>his switch is in anything but robot mode
t. salty 3DS owner assmad about all the latest releases being on switch
but I have a switch
>wait two years for a $50 price drop
Nah im glad I bought my switch day 1
Its still selling okay. Mario Kart 7 sold over 1 million copies last year.
>nintendolife.com
The X2 was designed for cars, not games. If the Switch Pro is a real thing, the new Tegra will be the only choice available.
>wait two (2) years
>still no games
I'm sure it will be compatible with joy cons and Docking of some sort, but not out of the box.
I could get behind the idea. The Switch should have just been a mobile all along with a micro-HDMI output or something. I can't remember the last time I saw the screen. Oh, wait, I can. I knocked it over a few weeks ago while plugging my TV into a a backup power cell and the screen lit up for a second. At any rate, it's too clunky for a mobile and too underpowered for a console. I just don't get it.
Joycons are terrible. My switch stays docked with a PS4 controller adapter.
Check Nvidia's latest financial report, Nintendo is ordering less of the current Tegra model, but Nvidia's CEO said sales would rebound later this year.
Yeah, poor them, playing games for over two years now
>still no games
en.wikipedia.org
>There are currently 1724 games
???
jensen is a dumbass
There's not going to be a Switch Pro, you need to get used to it.
Now substrack games with less than 1,000,000 sales.
>7
>substrack
common core at work
>sales = good
lmao
i have my left joycon with drifting, and it means that if you move it slightly, it will moving on it's own
I'm not poor.
Follow the conversation before jumping in, dumbass. Everything points to the Switch using a revised, more efficient Tegra X1 from Q2-Q3 2019 onwards, this has nothing to do with the Switch Pro.
Your character or camera moves in a certain direction indefinitely. For instance, in BOTW Link will throw himself off cliffs if I let go or in Setsuna its literally impossible for me to move downwards.
I'd agree if it weren't for the fact that so many games are unoptimized as fuck for handheld mode, so much to the point where I primarily use the portability for some indies and the Nintendo games they actually bothered to optimize for handheld mode, looking at you, Yoshi's Crafted World and Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
So its like literally every console ever
Can't wait to buy this one. Waiting actually turned out to be the right move.
Just like how the 2DS got rid of the gimick.
>people think this is real
It's easy to wait when there's no system sellers out in the two years it's been on the market. Aside from usual normieshit like Smash and Mario Kart there's literally nothing that sells it.
All they need is a Tegra X1 refresh on the now much 16/14nm process, literally a smaller cheaper version of the exact same chip with better performance-per-watt. And how much trouble would it be for developers if the only difference is what people expect out of a Pro model to begin with? Make the tablet 1080p, which it already supports in TV-out mode anyway, and point out the improved framerate in docked mode. That's all you need.
*the now much more manufacturable 16/14nm process
Are you retarded?
That one chink site did have an actual listing for a Switch mini case though. I'd call it a mistake, but literally what else could fit into that cases mold?
>thinking mini switch will be cheaper
If it's gyro, lay it on its back and wait.
If it's stick, lift the rubber skirt and blow some canned air in.
If that doesn't work, replacement sticks are $4 with free shipping.
True. Still waiting for Atlus to give us that SMT and EO sequels.
Get a PS4 then retard.
If real then unironically portability, the battery life will still be too bad on games that aren't awful indie trash to make it worth it as a true portable though.
Why the fuck is this like the only time I hear the switch having problems with their joycons drifting? I thought you were bros Yea Forums, you were supposed to tell me if it was shit.
I have a launch one with a disgusting amount of hours including Smash Bros and it's fine desu
How so? Have you played Splatoon? Motion controls are superb when they're done right.
I have a launch one too and my left joy stick would drift up for so long. Now it doesn't even move half of the time when I press any direction. This was before Smash when all I played was Mario Kart, Crash and Dark Souls.
>revision fags still going at it even after E3
i dont use joycon but my pro controller left stick drifts. pretty much everyone i know who plays splatoon for 1000hours+ have left stick, gyro, or dpad issues on the procon.
No nintendo revision has ever been good.
