circle of the moon is almost as good
it got criticised at launch for being too dark, but that was only an issue on the original non-backlit GBA. on emulators it looks fantastic. it plays like a hybrid between SOTN and the classic platformer castlevanias.

Boktai 1 and 2 are masterpieces.
Solar sensor is such a unique gimmick that I still get a kick out of the idea as an adult, even if I opt to just use a patch instead. Gothic spaghetti western is a kickass aesthetic, and the game plays like MGS-lite.
It's a shame the direction Lunar Knights took, but I'm glad we got what we did either way.
