Be honest, is TWEWY in your top 20 games?
Be honest, is TWEWY in your top 20 games?
DS version yes, Switch version no.
It's in my top 5
Top 5 for sure.
If it’s in your top 10 post your list
it's objectively good and it's hard to say that about many games. you literally have to have shit taste to not like twewy.
I've never played it.
OoT
Bloodborne
Intelligent Qube
Splatoon 2
AAI2
UNIB
BBCP
PLvsAA
TWEWY
TF2
Yes
Hell yes it is.
Nah, but Ghost Trick is.
no, but still a perfect game
MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT
No, but it's a good game.
TWEWY
Jet Set Radio Future
KH2FM
Devil Survivor
Megaman X4
Infamous
Prototype
I started it but ditched about an hour in, felt like it would've clicked way more with my teenage self than with adult me. Characters were 3edgy5me. I was going to give it another chance after going through more of my DS backlog but my DS broke before I could get around to it, and I never got another one because I played like every other DS game I was interested in.
Absolutely /s Fucking not!
Yes but only because I've only beaten 13 games in my life
Wait, I got more.
Metal Gear Rising
Marvel vs Capcom 2
>/s
top 5
Only Neku is edgy, really, and he gets over that 3-4 hours into the game if I remember correctly.
Lmao, fag.
I prefer TWEWY over Ghost Trick, personally, but respectable taste.
what's wrong with the switch version aside from neutering the partner combat?
actually, come to think of it, how do the fights which require passing the puck even work in the switch version?
Dumbass
Yeah I think so. Top 20 for sure. Honestly games flow through my top 10 so often I could probably put it up there for nostalgia's sake at the very least.
>iPhone poster
>Calling other people fags
Like pottery
I plan on getting back into TWEWY one day, maybe if the Switch version goes on sale (though I feel it controls better on DS)
Puck has been replaced with Cross Combo, which activates whenever you hit an enemy with Neku and his partner at the same time. I can tolerate it but I personally don’t like how it slows down combat every time you land a Cross Combo on an enemy.
Jupiter of the Monkey > your favorite brand
Also, minor nitpick, but cool stuff like this got taken out due to the single screen format.
Man, I loved the dual screened combat. It was challenging at first but when you get used to it, the combat becomes fun as fuck.
Same here. It made for some pretty hype fights.
Definitely in my top ten JRPGs but I've never bothered to make a full list of my favorite games and probably never will.
>tell my friend who's only played the switch version that the DS version has my favorite combat system in any JRPG
>insists that FF is the best in his opinion
I just don't get it... This shit is 10/10...
>FF
Which one? Please tell me it’s not XV.
Yes.
As a matter of fact it's in the top 20 games ever made. It's a masterpiece of creative game design and taking full advantage of the target hardware.
Older turned based/ATB stuff. He's a huge fan of the series but I would never be a fan for the combat system alone. Job systems and cross job action systems, sure, but... TWEWY is too fucking fun actual combat wise.
I guess that makes sense. Different strokes for different blokes and all that. For me, personally, SMT has some of my favorite turn-based combat while TWEWY has some of my favorite ARPG combat.
>you can play the game in anyway you want and create your own moveset
>game allows you to change difficulties on the fly
>also lets you de-level
>game rewards you for doing so by increasing the the drop rate of items
>it also drops the best items on the higher difficulties
>if you’re unable to keep up with the combat system at first, the game allows your partner to be set on auto until you git gud
>also allows you to earn experience for not even playing the game
>you can also chain up to four rounds at a time and eventually up to 16, with the enemies getting more stronger and dropping more loot as a result
Kino
Nah. I refuse to put any story heavy games anywhere near my top 20. Story is always bad, no exceptions. When a game jerks off a story, that means the game isn't worth my time.
Did you even play the game’s combat or nah?
I'm not sure at this point, I've played so many great games. TWEWY probably deserves to be squeezed in, though, if needed be, because of how great it is in every aspect. The DS version, of course. Mobilefags need not apply. Also, how's the Switch version? Is it just the mobile version 2.0?
The gameplay stops mattering whenever the game pushes a story on me. Even if I enjoyed it, I'm not putting it anywhere near my top 20.
Are you a retard? The story ties right into the gameplay (being a Reapers Game) with puzzles and reasons for gameplay elements.
That combined with motion controls and a co-op mode. Partners can't even take damage.
Haven’t played it since no stylus is the switch version basically the same I don’t see how they could be similar
Okay, but did you play it?
>The story ties right into the gameplay
Then there wouldn't be any cutscenes or dialogue period.
It's hard to play a movie user.
youtube.com
Look at this, seriously. What justification do you have for this?
You still haven’t answer my very obvious question user. Did you play it?
>Not even trying Joshua's cards when they're the easiest
butt why
Awful bait user, try harder next time ok?
Nope
My top 20 games are as follows
Azure Dreams
Chocobo's Dungeon 2
Pokemon Gold/Silver
Monster Rancher 3
Brave Fencer Musashi
Black & White
MegaMan Legends 2
Pokemon Snap
Metroid Prime Hunter
Rune Factory 4
Chocobo Racing
Bomberman Fantasy Racing
Civilization 4
The Sims 3
Bully
GTA: SA
Zelda: Link's Awakening/ Oracle of Ages/ Oracle of Seasons
Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker
Stella Glow
Dragon Quest Builders
MegaMan Battle Network 2-6
Golden Sun
Monster Rancher DS
Elite Beat Agents/ Ouendan
DJ Max Portable 2 + expansions
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Not in order of course
Okay, ignoring the bait, what was your favorite pin to use? Mine was this little guy.
What if I said that I did play it, yet I hated it for having all that damn dialogue? I discard all gameplay if the stupid cutscenes ever get that numerous.
You can't even tell me why I'm not allowed to dislike the game. You're just calling me a troll for no reason.
I would just call you an idiot and move on, personally.
My pinfu.
Why though? You can't comprehend that someone doesn't fit into your circlejerk? You're not even arguing the game's supposed merits, you just jump right into strawmen.
Aside from just running Darklit Planets because they were a mix of fun and being OP, I liked Dope Line and Ice Risers a lot.
See:
Because having autism over cutscenes is stupid.
My nigga. Styling on Noise with that pin never got old.
>it's okay to hate the FFVII remake because tifa's tits are slightly smaller
>it's okay to hate the new Pokemon because one of the trainers has slightly dark skin
>but disliking hour after hour of bullshit dialogue being forced on the player is going over the line and "autism"
Literally never said any of that but nice projection, regardless.
Now who's pulling out the strawmen? Fuck off shitposter.
the switch version is ok if only because you dont have to deal with mingle PP
I'd definitely put it somewhere in my top 5 along with Ghost Trick.
>mfw I used multiple Nintendo DS’ to evolve the Mingle pins
For once, having autistic collecting pays off.
I still haven't received an answer. Why am I not allowed to hate story, especially 8 hours of it? Am I here to read a book or play a game? And why are you attacking me so much over it? Can't you be a little tolerant of a different opinion, just this once? Do you have to form a lynch mob anytime someone dislikes your game?
This game had the best girls.
But user, what if Jupiter of the Monkey IS my favourite brand?
Imagine playing a JRPG and not expecting it to have copious amounts of dialogue. You have only yourself to blame, user, and frankly, your autism is quite telling.
For every hour of story there's 50 hours of gameplay. It may be a bit of a stretch at the start because that's how exposition works, but once you're past it it's constant gameplay throughout from puzzles to combat to minmaxing stats to postgame content where if you're a 100% junkie there's leagues upon leagues to do.
There. There's your fucking answer. Can you fuck off already
You’re cool, then.
>Do you have to form a lynch mob anytime someone dislikes your game?
>taking ACfag's bait
Top spot. I love every aspect of it.
We're getting that sequel soon, right?
Burger grill made my heart go doki-doki.
Should’ve figured it was him. How long has he been at this?
>Imagine playing a JRPG and not expecting it to have copious amounts of dialogue.
Why is that a standard though? If TWEWY was an innovative and special game, it would break away from this frankly disgusting mindset of JRPGs, instead of falling into it like everyone else.
>your autism is showing
If this was a western game with too much story, I bet you'd change your tone.
>For every hour of story there's 50 hours of gameplay.
That's like saying a sidewalk is nice and clean because you only step in shit some times. I'm still forced to step in shit, and no amount of sidewalk will make me like that. The game doesn't even attempt to give me a mode where I can just enjoy the gameplay without the stupid story. Like the classic mode from Freedom Planet. Is this too much to ask for?
Hated it
Sorry man I don't know him, does he come to TWEWY threads often? Because as much as I love the game, I don't, really.
Still hurts.
>If this was a western game with too much story, I bet you'd change your tone.
One of my favorite games is Infamous and that game is filled to the brim with story related events so you’re gonna have to try harder than that.
not sure about top 20 but easily top 30 and even more easily in the top 2 for DS, only Ghost Trick even gives it competition and which I prefer depends entirely on how I feel that day
>likes Infamous
That explains alot, actually.
He’s this one autist who is obsessed over cutscenes in video games and what not. Hates games like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta as well for this reason.
Not even in my top 200. It's aggressively sub-par.
>goalpost-moving
Your mother is aggressively sub-par.
>calls people faggots and autists for having a different opinion
>but goalpost moving is going too far
>still moving the goalposts
Just ignore him, if this user is right it's not worth bothering.
I think we can all agree being autistic about having to deal with story in a video game means it ain't worth even talking to him.
youtu.be
Today, I will remind them.
I don’t really get how he can hate Devil May Cry for this reason. You can skip cutscenes just by pressing the start button.
I fail to see how TWEWY can be a good game if the fanbase is so vicious towards criticism.
Some people just don't like cutscenes. Why is that so hard to understand? Where in the 4channel rules does it make it illegal to criticize DMC or TWEWY? Please, point me to the rule if possible.
Still hurts.
I don't think I've ever felt so personally attacked
>Yea Forums is one person
>I fail to see how TWEWY can be a good game if the fanbase is so vicious towards criticism.
Typically, if a fanbase is passionate about a game, has high reviews and is very much regarded, then it should be noted to be a good game.
Also, again, you can literally skip cutscenes in DMC. That’s what I did whenever I replayed mission.
The very best.
There were many good things about TWEWY but I really liked how the different brands looked really distinct from each other.
youtu.be
HAPPY GO LUCKY YO, HERE I AM
>Typically, if a fanbase is passionate about a game, has high reviews and is very much regarded, then it should be noted to be a good game.
Why should I care about reviewers and popularity? Considering how popular trash like FIFA and MADDEN are, if anything normalfags are the last people I want to listen to. Plus, if you were so passionate, you could easily discuss the game's positives without calling people faggots, or hurling out tons of insults.
>Also, again, you can literally skip cutscenes in DMC.
Them being skippable doesn't matter to me. They still exist, and it makes me hate them. With DMC I guess it's not as bad because it's like an hour or two hours, but this excuse doesn't fly at all for JRPGs which are 8+ hours of stupid, boring dialogue. Tolerating it just tells the developers that games should have even less gameplay and should be more story driven. And I can't support that.
If you were part of the Reaper's Game, how would you fare Yea Forums? Take your favourite brand, that's what you're gonna be working with. Then, pick a set of threads and 2/3 pins from that brand, that's all you get to use across the full 7 days, since you're not a psyche whiz like Neku. The first two Anons to reply to this post get paired up, and then the next two, and so on.
Same here. And the way it played with the Chinese Zodiac was pretty interesting. Take this excerpt from the wiki for the D+B brand.
>While the zodiac describes the Ox as a sign of the steadfast, hard working, patience, honest, and creative to those under its year, its wardrobe of party and leisure might come across as the contrary to many. In deeper introspection however, many and much of its wardrobe is that of clothing that requires a great deal of patience, expertise, and experience to work on, being that of leatherware, including leg wear and boots, heavy materials, and intricate pieces, such as bras and to even jewelry; the inclusion of many D+B outfitters allowing early access to top class leather hides and even sterling silver greatly hints that D+B is a designer brand, which is a venture that requires not just skill in the trade of couture, but also that of PR and self run business management.
>Allowing for psychokinesis is much like the carnage of a charging oxen, mercilessly plowing and running over anything in its path. Its inclusion of ice based negative psyches, along with its designer party ware theme, runs along a reference to a famous auspicious belief in Chinese astrology regarding ox signs, in that if one is born under the sign of the Ox during the times of winter, much like them merely resting in the barn and being fed unlike in the toiling times of summer and spring, that such people are destined for a life of ease and little labor.
I simply don't understand how you can enter a thread on a JRPG and get mad that people tolerate cutscenes and dialogue.
The brands are easily one of my favorite things about TWEWY.
>can actually set trends in the area, were exactly 13 brands so the bottom one was unlucky 13
>all based on chinese zodiac, with even gatito existing because of the rat tricking the cat out of its place on the zodiac
>had common themes across their items and pins but not all of them were exactly the same
portable games? top 5
>Jupiter of the Monkey
>Ashura, Gekiren, Inuzuma, and Komokuten
>Yoshimitsu, Izanami, and Kusanagi
One of my favorite touches was how, if you make a specific brand popular in one area, NPCs wearing that brand will suddenly start flooding the area. It’s a neat little touch that gives the game a lot of charm.
goddamn I miss TRUST ME fanart
Wow user, I haven't played in years but I picked it up maybe a year after release when I saw Yahtzee's "it's pretty good" review and I didn't know this.
Look at the thread, dude. There’s people talking about a lot of positives about the game. Seriously man, who hurt you?
Really not a big fan of how the story constantly skips forward for
D R A M A T I C S U S P E N S E
only to immediately skip back 5 minutes later to show what happened. The final nail for me is when they do this shit with the actual ending of the game and you don't even fully know what happened, you have to read about it in a text file. For this sole reason, I can't put it in top 20, it's just lazy writing for the sake of making everything look more suspenseful than it actually is
It’s a pretty neat feature. I remember that one mission where you had to make D+B popular in one area and then NPCs wearing it came rushing out of nowhere once I was done.
No, it's not, i liked it a lot but it's definetely not in my top 20. Maybe in top 50, not even sure about that
This
Maybe they could do it without personal attacks and insults? I don't buy any of their posts if they line them with angry fanboyish flak.
>implying collecting the Secret Reports wasn’t cool as fuck
Based as hell I have never seen anything more based on this website in my entire 15 years holy shit
The reports are cool when they're giving you background knowledge and telling you more about characters, I just don't care for the ending being one of the things it tells you rather than shows you.
>Really not a big fan of how the story constantly skips forward
It does this like fucking once, on the first day of the game.
Secret reports were also actually incredibly interesting, but you don't need them at all to understand "Neku won, we all made it out"
Same
What’s the best battle theme in TWEWY?And why is it Someday?
youtu.be
Wrong, off the top of my head they do it on the first day, at the end of the first week, and at the ending, I'm sure I'm missing more but even if I'm not it was annoying and unnecessary for every scene it was used.
And holy shit I do actually want to know what happens in the ending without having to do an entire postgame, just knowing 'good guy won' is brainlet level shit that no one should be satisfied with after going through all 3 weeks
It’s honestly not that hard to understand what happened in the ending. Joshua got sick of Shibuya and wanted to blow it up but changes his mind thanks to Neku. It’s even inferred to when you get a flashback to his and Shades’ convo. Plus, Neku is implied to be alive in the end due to everyone forming a crowd around him in the RG.
>blocks your path
youtu.be
Not saying you can't piece together what happened, but you're left to guess at why it happened because we don't get to see Joshua's reaction after Neku lowers his gun.
>mfw they have their own Fusion
Someday's great but I'm a sucker for Twister.
Eh, I wouldn’t say it’s that hard. Throughout Joshua’s week, you get to see how he reacts towards Neku’s change and how much he grows as a person. Considering how his reason for initially wanting to blow up Shibuya was due to the inhabitants’ unwillingness to change, its pretty easy to piece together his reasoning.
I like saying "twewy"
it's fun, try it
twewy!
how do you even say TWEWY
I've always just said "two-e"
>Taboo Noise can only be damaged by whoever has the Light Puck
>Uzuki and Kariya are some of the only characters to survive the assault from Taboo Noise thanks to having a Light Puck of their own
>they’re also coincidentally one of the toughest boss fights in the game
Absolutely kino. The way TWEWY had its story and gameplay interact with each other was great to see.
I always pronounced it as “two-we.”
twee-wy?
Maybe don’t be an overly sensitive faggot? Oh wait, you’re ACfag. Guess that’s impossible for you.
twuwuy
I say it "Tweh-wee".
Which version?
T(WEW)Y
No, it's shit.
>467330112
The World Ends With (You)
Say what you will about the ports but Beat’s theme is kino.
youtu.be
Tatakai is so fucking good. One of my favorite songs in the entire OST.
Regardless of if you feel it was easy to interpret, there was no reason to just skip over all of it and then make me read about it.
I wouldn’t say that’s a fault of the game. Joshua is naturally a very secretive person so of course he isn’t going to tell Neku about what his true goals are. Combine that with the final shootout in the end and you can interpret it as him wanting to test Neku. Plus, again, I didn't feel it was too hard to piece together.

TWEWY is up there in my top 20 list of games that Yea Forums talked me into trying that turned out to be absolute overrated/over hyped garbage
along with Brink and Bloodborne
>falling for brink because of Yea Forums
That game looked like shit in its videos and trailers, you have only yourself to blame.
I'd say it's up there for being a master piece. I was a PSP boy for a while and this game made me want a DS. Ended up playing my mum's and went out to buy the game for it with what little money I had saved up back in the day.
It’s not Yea Forums‘s fault that you have no taste. Maybe next time try not being a faggot.
Go on these two sites, divide the score on the first one by 5 & add it to the score of the second website.

Personal favorite TWEWY song.
I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS ISN’T A DREAM
Came here to say this.
MY LUCID ORB IS FADING BRIGHT
When will Square give our boy just a little love?
Maybe we’ll get a bone thrown towards us at TGS. Or the whole KH3 secret ending thing.
We have 6 months left in the year. I have hope they'll announce a sequel in a Nintendo Direct or something
Why is Lea in the bottom right corner there?
My actual nigga
WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN BY THIS, NOMURA?
#1 handheld game of all time, for sure.
Top 20 of all time? Definitely. Probably top ten. I could see it making somewhere around the 7-9 area.
Honestly, it's too hard to pick a favorite with what was my probably boring tryhard set. Drake, 2x BBBB, 2x Lightning Rook, whatever the max uses healing pin was
It’s honestly insane how high quality of a handheld title TWEWY is.
>tons of way to customize your moves and abilities
>fun enemy encounters and great boss fights
>multiple ways to change up the difficulty and mechanics
>god-tier aesthetics and music
>likable characters and a genuinely heartfelt story
It’s just so fucking good.
>2x Lightning Rook
My nigga
Please, PLEASE don't forget the way it actually uniquely uses said handheld system's features to its limit.
Even shit like sleep mode gets used by that one Pig Noise who requires you to do it to kill it.
>Bought Final Remix
>Thought gameplay was braindead as fuck and stopped playing
>Finally hacked 3DS last week
>Download TWEWY ROM
>Don't want to play it because it will make the Switch purchase feel like a giant waste of money
Damn this autism
I've never actually bothered to organize a list of my favorites but it probably is
It's tied with Kid Icarus Uprising for Nº1.
In no particular order:
TWEWY
Prey (2017)
Hollow Knight
Bioshock 2
Ratchet and Clank 2
Terraria
Hotline Miami
Unreal Tournament 2004
Pokemon Platinum
Breath of the Wild
I've never made a proper ordered list of them so I might be forgetting some.
>Kid Icarus Uprising

It's not like you can get OG TWEWY in stores now, just say your purchase of it on Switch was your way of buying the DS version.
>the microphone pins
Fun times were had.
Even i forgot about those (though more because I forgot about the DS mic), and I'm the one you responded to.
So yes. It fucking perfectly used the DS better than anything I can think of.
>Uprising
My negro.
It's incredible how a title only 3 years into the consoles lifespan pushed it to the absolute fucking limit
One day.
Both of these games will get a sequel on the Switch.
I hope at least.
the hope that there's going to be a sequel or spiritual successor as fun as Uprising is part of what keeps me going
no order
>twewy
>sa2
>sf4 series
>pokemon bw/bw2
>tales of vesperia
>ggxrd:r2
>tf2
>tribes ascend
>smt:devil survivor series
>half life
I played the DS version way back when, pretty boring game, didn't finish it, so no.
TWEWY always reminded me of a handheld Jet Set Radio, which probably helped influenced my love for it. The game being so fucking good was what skyrocketed it to being one of my fave games.
>JSR-TWEWY Crossover never-ever
why even live
>Devil Survivor
My absolute nigga
Maybe one day, user.
>TWEWY 2 gets made
>Hideki Naganuma is one of the composers for the soundtrack
How hype would you be?
I've only played a few hours a couple years ago but no, the combat didn't click with me at all and the story wasn't interesting enough to keep going.
Will probably come back to it at some point since I bought it.

I made this to respond to all the smash threads in how Square will never add Neku in Smash but I put Lea in as a Easter egg since I would love for her to be in but it ain't gonna happen.
This works way better than I thought it would.
is the switch version worth playing?
Yeah, they'd never let an indie character into Smash. She's a great character from a great game though, you've got good taste.
If you can't play the DS version; yes.
The entire core concept of the game is that you, neku, have trouble communicating with your partner, and because you and your partner arn't properly communicating, you are both getting unnecessarily hit.
You need to learn to stop focusing just on yourself, and focus on your friends and partners and stop being an asshole in your own world alone.
That is the entire point of the game. The game is designed around it, and all the limitations of the system are baked into the story, as a core part of it.
Without that fumbling two screen combat system, neku is right. Neku can do everything alone, neku was perfectly capable of being by himself. In the orginal, neku is capable but doing it by yourself is impossible. (or at least excessively harder.) So the rules of the game actually were in neku's benefit, he was being helped if he knew it or not. In the switch version, neku is an ubermench and his partners really are the deadweight he makes them out to be.
i have the ds version, is it really that much worse? the new content seems nice
I can honestly enjoy the ports to an extent but I’ll always prefer the original not just for how much more engaging the dual screened set-up is but for this as well. The way TWEWY used its game mechanics to reinforce its themes and messages really helped to make it stand out even more.
>Has a message about taking the time to observe the world you and not just live in your own little bubble
>You get EXP for putting the game down and doing that
It was fucking genius, I don't think a single aspect of the game's functions wasn't either intrinsically related to the themes of the game or pushing the DS hardware to the max, most times it was both.
Don’t forget how Neku can’t even attack the Noise by himself without a partner, like the start of Week 3 for example.
And even though Mingle could be annoying as shit as times, I do like how you can buy clothes and pins from your friends to help you out in the game, to the point that your friends can even get money from your purchases in return.
The new content does have new pins and songs but I’m not sure if they’re enough to justify a second purchase.
the best ATB game is Chrono Trigger
You’re not wrong.
Man, the aesthetics of the dual screened battles were cool as hell to see.
Agreed.
