Why is this considered one of the best games ever made?
Why is this considered one of the best games ever made?
Because aside from Ocarina of Time & Metroid Prime, it's probably the most well paced game of all time
Catered to the ADHD crowd.
It has a unique identity
It has a harsh, restrictive gameplay that reinforces fear and unease
It has a charismatic main character
It has great monsters
It has a lot of very enjoyable violence and gore
It has a lot of replay value
It's scary
It's fun
Here's what I think about this game, not trying to sound pretentious, those are just the qualities I see in this game.
Because it is zoomer.
I watched my dad play it a lot when I was younger and I remember getting the shit scared out of me when he went to the lake and had me wait for the mutated fish to pop out of the water
I'm re-playing the game again with the texture pack, and I'm delighted to say it doesn't take away from the original charm of the game.
Treasure hunting was fun and the over the shoulder but still tank controls slow and plodding horror TPS just felt right.
That said, I'm still in favor of fixed cameras for Resident Evil.
It's fun
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA WHY CANT I OUTRUN THE STATUE THIS GAME IS SHIT
Look at most of the trends in modern gaming and they can be traced back to RE4
RE4 is my favourite game ever but I feel like it should've been in a sub-series or a spinoff. Narratively it's pretty detached from the rest of the franchise, and it sucks that without Mikami's guidance it became the basis for the next couple of entries, because the devs obviously didn't know what made it great.
>impossible to beat at 60fps
>even if you turn down the fps, you still have to do that jump at the end of the bridge
Playing this on PC was torture
this except Ocarina has fucking Hyrule field that kills the pacing. Haven't played Metroid fight me.
because its fun
>tfw played RE4 at my grandparents place during the summer when it came out
>became obsessed and doing multiple runs
>unlimited rocket launcher runs and leaving ashley to rot in her tin can
>getting to play as different characters in mercs and trying out different strats for fun
It was so good. I feel bad for kids now that can't have games that simply unlock new stuff anymore. Everything gonna be dlc. I'm glad I got to experience the goods as a kid.
I’m playing it in Switch, I can’t change the FPS. And yes I was doing it undocked
I have the same hairstyle as RE4 Leon. Should I get a haircut?
>except Ocarina has fucking Hyrule field that kills the pacing
Takes a couple of minutes to traverse at most
Oh I thought you were making fun of people who couldn't beat it. I don't think the other versions have the problems that the PC version has. It's not that bad, but you get less than half a second to do the jump at the end, so you have to learn when the prompt comes up instead of reacting when it appears
Its a perfect mix of action, horror and tongue in cheek humor. Its a masterwork at building tension and introducing new and ever increasing threats for a perfectly paced game.
I didn’t even know there was a prompt, I literally can’t last more than 3 seconds
I read online the door is locked as well, I guess now I know what to expect if I ever make it, but after like 30 attempts I’ve given up
It's a great game, just not a great RE game.
Not him but that shit adds up.
I did a Blacktail, Riot Gun, SA Rifle, TMP and Killer7 run and had a blast even though I never use them usually.
Well, idk what to tell you. QTEs were a retarded choice but there's nothing we can do about it.
