Well, all the points you make about Sephiroth are points that are valid since FFX and all the milking of the FFVII franchise.

watch the mechanical devil wing be turned into a generic angel with with black feathers instead of white ones to make it look "Evil", and watch the two halos be turned into one singular halo which loses the star-like crest in favor of having some generic glow effect like it's made of "pure energy" or some gay anime shit. also you can bet your ass they're gonna change his skin tone from "greek adonis brown" back to his original skin tone for the rest of the fucking game before he becomes a god. you know damn well all of this will happen.

Cloud during the gameplay shown was fine all his voiced lines showed this. Sephi looked exactly as he should and he has the personality for it.

I don't think that's a full on flashback to nibelheim. In the scene in the trailer it just looks like some kind of apparition of Sephiroth in a Midgar alleyway that's supposed to be a callback to that scene with the fire and all, but not the actual memory of the scene.

Heh this is just like the tifa shit. In so far as the change has been done from the original design simply got better please their home market as to then be able to sell new merch and shit. It is simple as that in both scenarios. An altered design means new possibilities to sell and license it and hence take in new cash from previous Avenues again. Like door examples them figurines they license and let nerds make for them to sell. Now there is a new version so the obsessive die hard fan boy will be enticed to buy another one simply to feed said obsesivness and hence make even more cash for them.

Sakaguchi was actually a big part of why FF7 turned out the way it did with a lot of the weird and "offensive" shit like the honeybee inn. Apparently he wanted that particular part of the game to go way farther and be even more of a blatant whorehouse, but his team told him to chill out and they scaled it back, and that was the process for a lot of the development of the game. It's kind of interesting how if you look through the Ultimania, you'll find that Cloud's original design was basically identical but he had dark skin. In FFVII, Nomura made the character design with his faggy-emo artstyle. It's not my cup of tea, but it wasn't a problem, because the game itself wasn't faggy-emo.
