While other girls like Zelda or Peach might be well recognised within gaming, Lara Croft was EVERYWHERE in the late 90's: magazines, adverts (I still remember the Lucozade advert where she outruns the dogs), a succession of models to dress up as her and not even as part of a promo for the games, 2 films with Jolie.

Samus is not iconic. Hardly anyone even heard of her before Smash. Her games always so like shit and were more irrelevant than F-Zero. Diddy Kong is far more iconic than her.

Kurisu really does have a masterful design. Recognizable, unique, aesthetic, sexy, plausible, easily reproducible and fits the character. You could boil her down to strips of colour and you'd be able to tell who she is immediately.
