>First game just covers Midgar.
What the fuck do they mean by this? They can't possibly be serious about needing half a decade to remake what is essentially the intro of the original.
>First game just covers Midgar.
What the fuck do they mean by this? They can't possibly be serious about needing half a decade to remake what is essentially the intro of the original.
wasn't midgar like the first 10 hours? i honestly don't even remember. haven't played since I was a kid, granted I might have played it really fucking slow
It's like an hour if you don't know where you're going. Longer if you take time to grind and level up.
I hope they make shit more grimy. Midgar looks too shiny and sleek. It's supposed be this dirty, polluted shithole.
I don't know why but it feels like video games and movies haven't been able to capture that aesthetic for years now. Blade runner 2049 looked too sleek compared to the original but the blade runner game perfectly captured it
>It will be 2040 before the entire remake is complete
More like five hours really. People mis-remember it being much longer if they haven't played in a while. Really, that path outside Aeris's home is the hub world that only leads in three directions. The reactors are just fast traveled by train.
It's not really enough to hold a candle to the length of the original game. Remember that the game is so long that Aeris actually only exists on disc 1.
The pacing of Midgar is basically perfect but it's too short and has way too little content to be a stand alone game. So, either the game will be too short or they will ruin it with filler bullshit.
>entire first game is just Midgar
>don't have to buy the rest because Midgar was the only part of VII I really loved
How much time did people spend in midgar if they think it's a big chunk of ff7?
3-4 hours
You're way too optimistic, user. The game will be too short AND ruined with filler bullshit.
> Game is going to have dozens of hours of Naruto level filler or be 5 hours long
Confirmed flop
It's more that it's the most iconic location in the game so people associate more memories with it and assume that they spent more time in midgar than they actually did.
What will the final boss of the game be?
I mean Motor Ball was the final boss of Midgar in the old game but it seems anticlimactic to have a Shinra robot be the final boss if it's an entire game's worth of content.
I'm guessing that following episodes won't take as long, my reasoning is that they had to use a lot of development time working with the engine, assets, programming, other miscellaneous stuff. With that framework established its more a matter of putting the assets in place with successive episodes.
And there's a SHITLOAD that happens between Midgar and the City of the Ancients.
Calm, Zolom + Caves, Fort Condor, Juno, the cruise, Gold Saucer, correll, the whole of nanaki,s story, nibellheim and i'm likely forgetting a bunch.
>2 bluray discs
filler it is
I'm thinking they modeled the whole city and it'll all be explorable.
That means I'll probably never play it. I sure as hell won't pay for this abomination and I don't think I'll pirate a 100gb game either.
Yeah, disc one is probably really more like half the game. I think the only reason disc 3 even needed to exist was because the ending has so many long FMVs.
More than half the game, I meant.
For what reason though? That's like re-shooting the Lord of the Rings and doing a whole trilogy on the fucking hobbit festival.
Final Fantasy VII: Midgar Demo
Midgar is the best setting of VII so I don’t mind spending more time there.
That would be absolutely monsterous and I doubt it's the case. You're giving them too much credit, this is gonna be the same amount of story with a few small extras thrown in, and longer cutscenes of dialog to pad it out.
All of that is great and a welcome addition in my eyes, but not at the cost of cutting 9/10s of the game and half the characters.
I'm trying to think if VII could be done in three games realistically, with the second ending in City of the Ancients, but I basically completely forgot about the rest of the game after that. All I remember is the ending, wheelchair Cloud, Diamond Weapon, and the Zack reveal. Was there any significant sections gameplaywise? Other than bonus stuff like the Weapons. Like when were Wutai and Vincent's section?
Fuck off is it only an hour. Maybe if you speedrun it.
One thing you really can't underestimate is how much time all the dialogue is going to eat. There's a lot of talking in the game and if they are going to voice it all it will take ages. You can read A LOT faster than people normally speak. 10 minutes of reading is easily an hour of spoken dialogue. The meeting in Tifa's bar is probably be like 2-3 hours long alone.
>already showing sephiroth bullshit in midgar
Their going to fucking butcher sephiroth and cloud aren't they?
Probably Rufus or Heidegger.
Wutai is whenever you want, it's optional. Vincent can join the first time you visit the Shinra mansion (for real, not in Cloud's flashback, though funny enough Vincent would still be there in that coffin even in the flashback with the town burning around him)
The other memorable part after that would be the undersea base and the submarine stuff.
Haven't even really been paying attention to this remake but $60 for just midgar? Holy shit why?
The more time they spend making my husband (Cid) the better
He will be SOOOOOOO hot in the remake
My handsome fish
Seems like it. There's no reason you should see him before Kalm. I bet Cloud's gonna give his story while they're in prison in the Shinra tower instead.
Oh shit, user, you're right. This game is going to make MGS4 look reasonable.
Dead on arrival.
>10 hours
Maybe if you grinded or some shit
FF7 is like 30-40 hours depending how much side content your doing and midgar is only 2-3 hours of that.
You'll probably see him in 2030 if you're lucky.
Speedruns take close to 2 hours with it lol.
Midgar is around 4 hours long on a casual go through.
Looks like they tried to make something too big and then realized it was even bigger than they thought and then realized it would have to be broken up into parts and then that the parts need to be bigger to make sense.
There aren't a lot of details yet so it's all speculation.
We'll see eventually.
They say the game is *huge* and than even the first episode will be huge. I'm tempted to believe them. Even if it's not huge it's unlikely that it'll be tiny like some people are claiming ITT.
I think I'd rather they had kept it smaller so that it gets released all at once (and more chances of actually getting done) and dunno if making Midgar so big (if they actually did) even is worth it. It'll still be interesting to see what they did and how big it is IF it actually ever gets finished one day.
JRPGs are already padded to hell and back, imagine taking a JRPG, remaking it and dividing it into 3 fucking games. Fucking LMAO
Its retards like you that are giving these idiots who didnt play 7 the ammo they want
Midgar is extremely short and doesnt even take up a quarter of the game but its not an hour. 5 hours is the max if you're trying to talk to every person and spend as much time, which seems a lot to people who don't actually play RPGs but for JRPG standards its nothing. Also the amount of time isnt even super relevant if you just think about what events happen in midgar compared to what events happen in the rest of the game, you just end up doing so much more outside midgar. Having a whole game in midgar really is just gonna ruin what makes that feeling of getting out so good since you wont be playing the rest for another 3 years minimum according to kitase. I just got to the northern cave for my replay and man I love exploring the world of 7 and love how much there is to do at times besides the main story, the variety of themes for each area is insane and I cant believe were not gonna get that level of personality each new area gives just so normies can have this useless sense of scale that adds nothing but more volume
They should have just remade the game in the style of the FMVs of the original. Would have saved a ton of time and money.
Are you a creative director?
You know exactly what makes storytelling effective and what doesn't? From years of studying, training, and experience? You know better than them?
Haha
Haha

My hope was 0 on arrival bud, cloud is just gonna be flanderdized AC cloud, sephiroth is going to show up more and blab a fuck ton, their gonna highlight the fuck outta Aerith and her dying, midgar is already a bigger deal then it was. This is just gonna be a game based off what everyone talks and remembers FF7 as not what it was.
Remember when you where younger and you thought you had all these cool ideas for a story and world and you just wrote them all down without any regard or focus for actually building your story and world?
That's what this remake feels like. A bunch of middleschoolers notebook ideas.
>They can't be serious
they are. and retards will gladly pay.
Then explain FFXV and FFXIII
They don't even know how many parts its gonna be. Stay mad
They're saying it's gonna have the length of a full FF game. Which basically means nothing as FFs range from 20 hours to 100+ with their content.
My bet is that they won't introduce much extra content. Maybe 1 or 2 extra Avalanche missions before you get to sector 5 slums. The rest of the "full game length" will come from everything being voice acted now and some extra hunts like XV had.
>Wait 23 years for something.
>It's soulless shit.
DON'T QUESTION
CONSUME PRODUCT
>the whole building Shinra up to be the enemy is ruined
>sephy and his gay demon ghosts are all over the place now, ruining the reveal that Shinra are small fries compared to how fucked you are NOW at the realization when the President is killed
>My hope was 0 on arrival bud, cloud is just gonna be flanderdized AC cloud, sephiroth is going to show up more and blab a fuck ton, their gonna highlight the fuck outta Aerith and her dying, midgar is already a bigger deal then it was. Same
I accidentally deleted my FF7 file while playing Xenogears because I did not know how to save, so I had to play the game over again recently and it certainly wasn’t just 1 hour. It was still pretty fucking long.
>I will be 40 when the remake is finished
bros, I don't feel so good...
>>First game just covers Midgar.
Does anybody have a source of this claim? I REFUSE to believe that this is real.
homie did you miss E3
>Having a whole game in midgar really is just gonna ruin what makes that feeling of getting out so good since you wont be playing the rest for another 3 years minimum according to kitase.
That’s the point of it being in a remake, you already have that experience in the original so they are free to do what they want without having to necessarily do what the original did.
I will buy this for my future grandchildren when the full game releases in the year 2090...
It will finally be the 90's again... I just need to eat really healthy
I'm too lazy to look it up, but it's true.
>wHy ArE wE GEttiNg mORe cOnteNt??!!!
Bunch of retards, shut up and play the original if it bothers you. this remake is for the real fans.
>everything is fine, consume product
fuck off apologist
Yeah, okay, that's cool and all, but please fuck off and return to wherever you came from, okay?
You're right it should be its own game but if its calling it self a remake it should live up to that name with more than just the general story and characters. If they arent gonna try and replicate the some of the feeling then why even remake the game? Just make a new entry called "FF7 Midgar sidestories" and go all out with the new ideas. Fuck this limp dick shit
Just the Midgar part alone went through development hell and Squeenix can't release a game on time for dick, especially Final Fantasy.
I can't wait to play the rest of the game in 2040
>Bunch of retards, shut up and play the original if it bothers you. this remake is for the real fans.
get a load of this retard zoomer. You are fan of nothing. You are just drunk with hyper for the next big AAA product
Go play some new IP
>FFs range from 20 hours
Haven’t played all of them, which ones do?
> The point of the remake is to get an updated version of the game, idiot.
Bros is there a way to avoid random encounter? Like, I can move across the world map for 5 fucking seconds without an annoying battle popping up!
It's really killing the enjoyment of the game for me.
Main FF games have never been 20 or 100 hours, most games range between 30-40 hours if you only play the storyline.
>every 5 hour section is going to be padded out to 30 hours
>game will end up being around 7-10 parts, each being 30 hours and taking multiple years to come out
yeah im thinking ill pass
All the new versions have cheats that allow you to disable random combat, same for emulators.
>100+
Most FF games are between 30-40 hours if you do the main storyline only "which most people do"
nobody ever asked for FFXV: VII Edition
Every port released since 2013 has had ADHD changes for your medicated zoomer minds, play one of those.
Then don’t play video-games, reading a (respectable and academically celebrated, not YA-tier shit) book is infinitely better so why do you not only just browse Yea Forums?
I am excited because it looks fun to play, but there are far better things than vidya.
>post yfw FFVII Remake ruins SquareEnix
kys
>If they arent gonna try and replicate the some of the feeling then why even remake the game?
Because they want to cover the entire story?
>game will be done by the time everyone who played the original have died
truly a Final, Fantasy.
>You are just
I used these ‘you are just’ arguments when I was in primary school
First disc you nigger. Isn't it a two disc game? I was under the impression that disc 2 was the rest?
>I used these ‘you are just’ arguments when I was in primary school
I barely remember anything about primary school. Wanna know why? Because I'm a fucking adult and it's been ages since.
XV can be beaten in 20 hours if you skip every side quest the game throws at you. That MIGHT be incorrect with the new Chapter 14 update but it would still be less than 25 hours
>Cloud is just going to be flandeized AC Cloud.
The dialogue we’ve seen so far doesn’t really support that.
It was a flashback, you can see it in the way he disappears
CyberConnect fucking up definitely affected it, they needed to release something and fast, so they just made Midgar and reused all the assets they created for it to make more areas, expect the next episodes to include much more of the original games
Disc 1 and 2 are just midgar. I know its hard to read cuz you blacks didnt get educated but there's tons of videos explaining this
They aren't just remaking the 3 hour intro of FF7, retard. They're turning Midgar into a full game's worth of content. Midgar is huge, but it feels tiny in the original because it's just a few pre-rendered screens.
I'm an adult and I remember primary school.
I remember being 2.
UR MEMORY IS JUST AVERAGE lmao~~~ I would CRY if I lost my brainpower
Midgar is going to be a stand alone game.
Either its going to be 2 discs(unlikely)
Or part 2 is going to be the rest of the game(more unlikely unless they rush through everything post midgar at breakneck speed)
See you're saying that and you think you're being smart but all Im hearing is BLAH BLAH BLAH SHITTY PACING AND A WHOLE BUNCH OF PADDING!
Midgar, at most, would take like 6-7 hours if you have no idea what you were doing, took your time, got a little lost somehow in all that linear design, took the stairs at Shinra Tower and maybe kept trying to get the Mayor's puzzle correct on the first try with some save scumming. For experienced players, it's pretty much as long as the Roxas prologue in KH2 was without cutscene skipping.
Most people play it 50 hours, so I would say 60 hours can be a safe bet. Ir seems like 15 as a whole is a really badly down World or Ruin/disc 3 of ff7
They arent covering the entire story you fucking retard. This first game is just Midgar and its most likely gonna be a completely different story than it besides a few general points/beats that they hit.
Being a remake doesnt mean you get to do whatever the fuck you want, they could just make a new game set in the 7 universe. If you're making a remake you're taking responsibility to be true it in more than just one fucking way, doesnt have to be 1:1 but be more rational then turning what most consider the intro into a whole fucking game, the originals pacing is ruined and not even trying to be replicated in any way
Stop saying the N word.
Barret can hear you and he doesn't like it.
You have early dementia user...
That or you are just a downie.
They merge with Bamco
>I'm an adult
>UR MEMORY IS JUST AVERAGE lmao~~~
>reddit spacing
Absolutely embarrassing.
shit shit gonna be basura like the ratchet and clank remake
>cloud is just gonna be flanderdized AC cloud
He seems to be a snarky asshole by all accounts. When Barret tells him he hears the cries of the planet, Cloud tells him to get help. When a bunch of grunts come charging in saying they're gonna take him down, he's like "That's my line." And he knows full well that he's the muscle of the bombing run but does get a bit irritated that everyone keeps running off while letting him get ganged on by all the security forces, on top of Barret giving him shit at every corner out of suspicion.
>I repressed my childhood
Might want to get that checked
soon
>Being a remake doesnt mean you get to do whatever the fuck you want
Technically you can with everything, unless you are including child-porn or irl snuff into it. I mean just watch Herzog’s Nosferatu and then the original, a good remake is pretty much a loose adaptation in the same medium
>LOVELESS
>OPENS 6/25 18:00 開幕 ( = raising the curtain)
>
>Station Edge Building
>East Station Edge Head Office
>Hotel Edge Southern Tower
>S-Edge Sta. Southern Gate
What does SE mean by this? (pic related was supposedly hanging somewhere at the FFVIIR remake demo area during E3)
Im a big 15 apologist but I wouldnt really compare it to those, it's just they split their game into one open world segment with tons of content than the other part as a linear story which for most people wouldn't be a problem but sadly because of the worlds geography a lot of people felt cheated that one continent got all the love but the other is super barebones. It doesnt help that XV's cutscenes are some of the weakest in the series with only 3 pre rendered ones and the rest being very stale.
There arent many areas in FF7 that you feel you didnt get to visit so by disc 3 it really is just an ending type deal, and World of Ruin had enough choices to not feel as under utilized as everything passed Altisa in XV
Isn't midgar only the first disc of the remake?
this isnt a loose adaptation, its an unfinished one. It's literally only adapting less than a quarter of the source. You have creative freedom but EVERYTHING has its extreme, if childporn is the only place you draw the line then you have extremely low standards
first game of the remake
Then you wait 3+ years for part 2 which will probably not cover the rest of the game either, most likely up to aeriths death if you are lucky and then wait another 3+ years for part 3 which might finish it
First 1/3 of the first disc.
What??? Ashley dies?
You can't just drop spoilers like that.
>The filler includes a flashback of Cloud doing months of clerical work for Shinra before he gets to try out for SOLDIER
Midgar is the best part and the whole game should be be in Midgar.
I replayed recently, took me 3 and a half hours and I was pretty much taking a stroll getting there.
>6/25
New trailer maybe?
1-3 are short. Others can be beaten really fast when you just go for the main story. 7 CC is like 6 hours.
And who says I or SE talk only about story?
That's exactly what I meant with "means nothing". Saying EP 1 will be a "full length FF game" can be interpreted in a shitton of ways.
Get ready for the exciting multi-part video game from the publishers of Mankind Divided!
still Midgard is important, it sets the stage for how bad things have gotten on the planet and it'd be easy to imagine it being more fleshed out, there aren't that many extra thing to do, the game kinda treats it like a tutorial/prologue and you could make it a lot more intersting by turning it in a fully explorable city.
Still, two discs is too much, I could see once all the other parts are finished going back and making it so that Midgar is this really huge hub that you can come back to over the course of the game to take full advantage of it's scale, put trying to make it this huge thing when you don't even have access to the outside world is dumb.
part 2
Kalm(before the storm)- Death of Aerith.
that seems like a good stopping point. all the characters have their reasons for fighting whether it be for the planet or to shit on Shinra for being cunts.
(in before Gold Saucer has loot boxes and online play)
Unless there are shady parts of the city, ethics department says we're not allowed to explore those
there is literally only one way to interpret it
gameinformer.com
>When the remake was first announced, there was some confusion among fans about its multi-part format. Is comparing it to the Final Fantasy XIII saga fair in that regard? Will each entry have that kind of scope?
It will essentially be a full-scale game for each part of the multi-part series.
>With regards to the current HD capacity and volume, the idea is that we wouldn’t be able to encompass it all in just one installment. So, if we’re just looking at each of these parts, one part should be on par with the scale of one Final Fantasy XIII game.
LADIES AND GENTLEMAN
All I see is negativity. If FF7 is a movie, then the remake is a TV series, I.E, allows for both the story and locations to be more fleshed out.
Im assuming they are gonna make Midgar an actual city instead of what? 5/6 sceens?
what im most worried about is, will shit from part one carry over to part 2? say i get materia from part one and level it up. when i start part 2 will it transfer my characters?
Post yfw you're looking forward to the game and aren't being paid to shit on it on an anonymous imageboard
WELCOME!
Think of it like this, FF7 is a puppet show and FF7 Remake is a series of movies
More fleshed out, 20-something years later, mostly by people who never worked on the original.
>and aren't being paid to shit on it
What? Who would pay for that?
is this a different engine than XV?
best map in all of ZE, dont >> me
same could be said about the RE2remake team.
>Im assuming they are gonna make Midgar an actual city instead of what? 5/6 sceens?
It's going to be crammed with 4k FMVs, I strongly doubt they're making 2 BluRay worth of in game assets for Midgar alone.
It's Unreal 4 I think
Of it’s good, then it's with the risk. I know that this comparison is insulting to Shakespeare, but do you think theatre and even modern story-telling like what we see in films would have ended up the way it did if playwrights throughout history did not fuck with the Classical Greek structure which was NOT meant to be fucked with at all? If Shakespeare did not fuck with everything? Having these sacred limitations block the potential of something is stupid, blindly following to the formula of FF7 because it’s sacred is stupid, art is free and the developers can do what they want because it won’t replace the original.
If the game comes out, and it turns out to be bad then you can say it perverted the spirit of the original. But, if it works out it will be better for ditching the original because to be honest (and you know this) it can never be better than the original. So why have it follow in the shadow of a superior product, when it can be it’s own thing and live in the day dream fantasy as an alternative version of ff7.
The developers wanted to make a remake of FF7 because that’s what they wanted to do, they wanted to make a game that purely was based on their wildest day dreams and fantasies on what they could do with the original game. It won’t affect the original, even if it turned out to be awful. FF7 is the exact same after crisis core and AC, so why not let the remake exist and ignore it if you don’t want it to be that way?
Wait I can get paid to shit on games?
hook me up user
Todd, wanting you to not buy an RPG he does not make.
You go back in Disc 3, though.
Why do Japanese companies keep making huge game engines and then not use them?
>Watchmen of Fate that haunt Aerith and seem to be coalescing with Sephiroth in the key art
What is this, Nomura, some alternate timeline fuckery
i dont need a 50+ hour game to be fleshed out, that just makes it too fucking long to care
Fuckery surrouning FF7 isn't Shakespeare. It's Advent Children.
They're strecthing out a 5 hour section of a game to a 40 hour game. Then people are going to have to wait 3 years for the next section that will then again be stretched to 40 hours.
I like long and extensive stories, at least you will spend more tome with the characters
>Discussion ITT
yea establishing shots show it.
does it translate to game play though?
how flushed out are the slums and upper plate? we talking modern "open world" style map here?
endless hallways?
Let’s wait until it comes out, then we can shit on it. Don’t post that comic, but it isn’t clear at all.
>Remaking the only good part
Good idea.
Building up on avalanche missions has potential to carry a game. In the original it was just "yo new guy, let's do heist #1 and heist #2 and get out of this city"
finalfantasy.fandom.com
>In an early version of the game script, the Sephiroth Clones were not people, but, rather, parts of Jenova floating in the air covered by their cloaks. During important plot points they would reveal themselves to be pieces of Jenova's body: her right arm, heart, etc.
99% sure they are just there to be new bosses.
>this 40 fucking hour jrpg is just too short, they really needed to quadruple the length
Because Luminous is trash
the older i get the less i can stand to invest hours in rpgs like i used to. i'd rather play something else or just read a manga
Well, we'll just have to see. That one interview page specifically labels them as Watchmen of Fate which sounds particularly ominous, but if they're implementing cut concepts then hey, that works too.
This decision to split the game up just to reach this insanely stupid scale is dumb but I have come to terms with this. All I hope for now is that the Turks get to play a bigger role cuz I like humanoid boss fights in these SE action games. Also I think Reno, Rude, Elena and Tseng have a lot of potential for great dialog
But then that isn't a remake, it's more like a side story.
>Elena
Maybe in 2025
How do I make the phone ring? Why do I even care? How are you all around me when you're not really there?
How do I feel you on me when you're not on my skin? Why do you say you want me, then tell me you're not coming in? Baby just come on in...
>What is this, Nomura, some alternate timeline fuckery
>You thought these are Dementor (Harry Potter) references, but it was me, a Dahaka (Prince of Persia) reference!
>Alternative timeline somehow deals with JENOVA getting destroyed early, causing Sephiroth in Lifestream to die due to feedback and being removed from the rest of the story by the time part 1 ends, similar to how a route changes in Visual Novels
>New story now entirely focuses on AVALANCHE vs ShinRa without any distrations from part 2 onwards
Well... that would be an "interesting" development to be sure, but I doubt anyone would want that, since it'd mean we will not get several OG scenes remade anymore.
Honestly at least they have had the sense to make it clear that this was going to happen as far back as 2015, it's just people that have been in so much denial that it "can't be happening" that seem to still be some of the most upset. It's not like Deus Ex Mankind Divided, where we got a fraction of the intended game without any pre-warning, Square dangled the series' future in sequels on its sales and then let it rot after they personally fuckholed it over to begin with.
>Entire game with mostly just Tifa and Barrett as party members with the odd bit of Aeris and Red right at the end
Theyre gonna make Biggs, Wedge and Jessie full party members for this game right?
There's going to be a twist where Cloud and co. wake up during Jenovaroth's rampage at the top floor of the Shinra building, resulting in them seeing Sephiroth kill President Shinra firsthand. This could either be the finale OR the half way point to an entirely new arc within midgar, with Sephiroth demonstrating how much of a threat he is to the party directly instead of hearing it all from Cloud and stories, as well as to the world, jump starting Shinra's pursuit and Cloud's ""pursuit"" of him. Pic related is probably a promo depicting Midgar on fire as an actual event in the game.
Which I wouldn't really mind, honestly. It always did seem strange to me how everyone took Cloud's word for it in regards to Sephiroth and left behind the mission in midgar to destroy the mako reactors so quickly. If anything, I at least figured Barret would tell him to fuck off.
I take it you haven’t played DQ 7
dont forget Don Corneo is now the main villain and PRESIDENT of Shinra.
Well there was that snippet of Jessie riding on the back of a new motorcycle segment with Cloud. I don't think they'll get much more than guest party member status, if that, but it would be great to get more out of them than the bare minimum the original game had before killing them off.
I just wish everything was longer, even days and years of my life seem too short and unfulfilling. I feel like I am going to die in 50 seconds...
>Which I wouldn't really mind, honestly. It always did seem strange to me how everyone took Cloud's word for it in regards to Sephiroth and left behind the mission in midgar to destroy the mako reactors so quickly. If anything, I at least figured Barret would tell him to fuck off.
But Tifa didn't deny Cloud's words, so it wasn't just Cloud.
World Record Speedrun is about 1:37. Keep in mind, almost an hour of that is cutscenes.
>off brand dragon ball
naw im cool.
>part 1 sells well because its omguuush ff7 remake muh nostalgia muh 90s muh jrpg
>part 2 doesnt sell a third of that because part 1 was short and dogshit
>they abandon it and never mention it again
this is whats going to happen
you have to be fucking retarded to split a game like this, this is impossible to pull off
That also involves skipping 2 entire missions by doing a sequence glitch that was only recently discovered in the last 2 years.
im fine with that
>dont forget Don Corneo is now the main villain and PRESIDENT of Shinra.
Considering how similar they look, I could totally see a remake plot twist where Don Corneo was used as a body double and got killed by Sephiroth/JENOVA, while the real president Shinra pretends to be Don Corneo. Imagine what a twist that would be (assuming it would be well written, of course).
I assumed that was him standing in the ruins of sector 7 after the plate dropped
The trailer obviously shows that they're doing that... I'm not a genius for noticing, you just dumb
if people bought the billion KH remakes and sidequels after KH2, they'll buy and wait for the rest to come out. People are emotionally invested in the series and that particular game
that will be $60 (plus tip)
>this is whats going to happen
>you have to be fucking retarded to split a game like this, this is impossible to pull off
Did I miss something? Since when was the game length of all things a problem with an in-house SE game, espacially a FF?
yes, it and 8 are too fucking long. padding is not fun
Do you think President Shinra ever shags Rufus?
*fap fap fap*
Gonna end up like half-life.
>ff6 remake
>every quest to find a party member in world of ruin is now it's own 50 hour game and takes 4 years to make
I think more people are upset that they didnt have the sense to think out how many parts its gonna be. They have the framework of the game there with the original this isnt a new IP. Plan out how much you're expand on each area of the fucking game before you announce it and ESPECIALLY before you announce it has multiple parts. This is absolutely pathetic for a huge company
>sexy president shinra
I'm ok with that
>part 2 doesnt sell a third of that because part 1 was short and dogshit
It's taking up two fucking disks, m8. Unless Disc 2 is all non-canon extra content, they're expanding the Mid-gar section to ridiculous length
Mite b cool. Mite b stupid. We'll see.
At least my waifu doesn't die in the first episode.
Company based
Angry consumer pathetic
it needs to be like Skyrim(you should play it if you have not). HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF CONTENT with near infinite replayibility.
its based and red pilled. unlike FF7.
So you're saying they planned to make two movies out of the last Harry Potter book back when they made the Philosopher's Stone film? Granted, not the best example, but they have the entire story planned out already, and have since at least 2017. The problem is the actual game development part, all that extra voice acting, all the shit they have to make. Will expanding Midgar have been worth it? We just have to see, but knowing exactly what you can and can't cover per game is not as easy as 1 2 3. Especially since the PS5 is coming up in a year or two here and that can massively shift the development again.
>I think more people are upset that they didnt have the sense to think out how many parts its gonna be. They have the framework of the game there with the original this isnt a new IP. I disagree completely. Leaving options on the table to be able to change one's mind is a good thing. Even more so about announcing the multi-part structure early. Imagine the shitstorm if they only revealed the multi-episode structure at this years E3... Oh boy, the hype would be gone as fast as it arrived...
I think a lot of people are expecting the game to end right after Shinra HQ but I don't think that's going to happen (especially considering that they have already shown the Shinra lobby). I think that the escape from Midgar is going to be a much longer section, which would allow Red XIII time to actually be a party member.
all they had going for them was hype
probably the greatest hype ever in video game industry, its been rising since that tech demo in 2006
now all people will get is literally GT: Prologue tier shit and next one is going to take another 3-4 years, hype will be completely gone
of course se could defy the reality and somehow create a masterpiece of a demo and feed some dlc to it to keep it on life support
but this project will not be finished
>make the city huge
>uncompressed everything
>woah this big empty and useless area takes up shitload of space
i dont care when they revealed it, its still shit and a scummy tactic either way
and it's shit
It's just Zoomers being angry and afraid of something they don't understand.
Did Zoomers EVER have to blow into a cartridge? Did they ever play a game that came on multiple discs? No.
It is literally a new thing for them and it's absolutely breaking them down. Kind of ironic because Zoomers are supposed to be the ones who are one and the same with the internet and all it takes is a google search of what games were like in the 90's. It was normal. It ISN'T A NEW THING and it WON'T KILL YOU, LMAO... fuckin zoomers
noone would care if it was multiple parts if it was going to take 5 years for each one to come out
>of course se could defy the reality and somehow create a masterpiece of a demo and feed some dlc to it to keep it on life support
>but this project will not be finished
Wrong. It will be finished BECAUSE they split it up. They already tried "doing it all at once" with FFXIIIVersus. It didn't work out at all and we got FFXV instead. With the remake it might actually go well, escpacially since they won't keep going to the drawing board. Once a part was released for better or worse they will just continue working based on that instead of retrying it, making the process much more decisive.
this nigga
its the best resident evil since the first remake.
Based
Disc 2 is all after Aerith's death.
>Icicle Town
>snowboarding
>build up to the "fight with Sephiroth"
>Zach reveal with Sapphire WEAPON awakening
>Prison Break, Weapon dies to Sister Ray
>wheelchair Cloud
>train bit
>next Weapon (Ultima, I think) attacks Mideel
>Cloud and Tifa therapy section feat. Cloud, Cloud, and Cloud
>Cloud wakes up
>submarine bit
>rocketship bit
>Copenhagen bit
>probably something else
>going BACK to Midgar, fighting Turks (optional), fighting Hojo
then Disc 3 is just
>Northern Crater
>Sephiroth
>FMV
>roll credits
>500 years later
And I'm probably forgetting stuff, too. Disc 2 has a TON of setpieces, but I think Mideel and the side stuff you access with the Highwind (Cactuer Island, Chocobo wizard or whatever the fuck,) are literally the only new areas, and then Disc 3 has Northern Crater.
The problem with this, of course, is that it still uses the same locations from the first disc, just different parts of them. You can explain why you can't go back to Midgar in the remake, but can you explain why you can't go back to everywhere else? Will game 3 just be completely reused areas? It's understandable when it's one game, but it's not one game. What about in disc 2 when you can go back to almost all of Midgar, which in the remake will be almost all of the first game? Will you just not be able to do that?
Bait.
Well, they DID mention they would be adding settings from the Compilation.
>one of the reasons the game is two discs is because there's an entire play on it
wasn't*
Part 2 will be released in 2021. It sounds ridiculous to you because you don't have foresight like I do
thats not very hard
(me)
And no, I am not psychic. I'm just very observant and highly intelligent
See: No more "villages" or even "towns" with 5 houses.
I can only presume they intend to massively pad out the game somehow, but then it's hardly a faithful remake. If they're really keeping it faithful and making an ENTIRE game out of at most 5 fucking hours then it's going to be awful. Keep in mind they've been developing this for years as well.
>first ff was 8
>7 looks just worse enough comparatively that I could never get into it
>Square
>Developing an FF game
>in ONE year
LMAO
>philosopher’s stone
BRIT! I can tell because they made the title much stupider for America.
Although PS does give away the mystery
the comfy prerendered villages are what made the game
CS grads need jobs
It might be 2 years per part after the initial release, similar to the FFXIII trilogy.
Omg, FFVIII was my first one too!!!
Do you remember? The graphics were SO AMAZING for its time!!!
This is retardo logic. Nigga its a remake in the same medium. They dont have to take this to as far extremes as they have. Im not even saying they gotta go back to turnbased but the amount they are doing is clearly overkill. If they had a road map at the very least people would be willingly to listen.
This shit should be planned before the fucking announcement. You shouldnt be changing shit left and right during development, sure it helps it be more flexible but it also is objectively less focused. This whole game is just being made on the fucking fly. Why do you retards not want someone to carefully plan shit out? You all want another Versus 13?
Lightning's games were all within about a year or two apart. Those had way less content, from what I understand, though, and had stuff like LR's literally polygon dog
Condor is all you forgot.
Disc 3 also has Emerald and Ruby to realistically fight. And the chocobo breeding if you’re insane.
Art assets take more time than an engine. Most of game development is art, not programming. It will take almost as long to make the next episode.
Looking forward to a full game of midgar unironically. So much lore that could've been had in the first game just kind of shrugged off to finish the story
tell me more, smart user
>This shit should be planned before the fucking announcement. "Carefully planned out" without any flexibility leads to situations where unexpected developments can kill the entire project.
so you're saying parts 2 and 3 will be short and shit? okay?
Ye. If it had voice acting you could almost mistake it for a ps2 game at times.
lorefags are disgusting
>Loveless 6/25
that was already in the original
That's because it wasn't supposed to be a trilogy, or at least the games weren't meant to happen that soon. FFXIV nearly bankrupted SE so fucking badly that they had to shit out asset recycles ASAP just to get back in the black.
This kind of like if Nintendo did a remake of OoT that was just the Deku Tree and Jabu Jabu's Belly
Can't believe there are people who are going to pay full price for an eighth of a 22-year-old game
SQUARE
and then IX came out and made it look like shit comparatively
Why the fuck would you play a final fantasy game for just the gameplay?
I think part of the reason of the "in parts" design was due to CC2 and their Dot Hack habits back when they worked on this. It just sort of stuck when the project got shuffled back to Square's hands and essentially became the next main FF game in terms of budget and effort.
they even managed to make the movie poster look soulless, bravo square
this is confirmed. SE themselves said that they're gonna extend the midgar segment to the size of a "normal" FF game, so expect dumpster fire tier pacing. it would have made too much sense to keep midgar as the short intro segment that it is.
the stated reason? "it's what people remember most"
They've said from the beginning they intend to fully flesh out Midgar compared to the original game. The opening bombing run sequence alone seems like it will last for damn near an hour when it was the first 5-10 minutes of the original game.
Cid's bulge in the remake
>replayed
sure you did, you cringey, conformist zoomer
for the story and comfy towns and music? let me remind what the other poster said
>So much lore that could've been had in the first game just kind of shrugged off to finish the story
the story is way more fucking important than some bullshit lore nobody cares about besides a dozen autists who run a wiki
Can you honestly say that between getting the Highwind after Cloud takes a dip in the lifestream, and the air drop into Midgar, that you remember that much of FF7's giant filler period where besides Cloud getting his memories back you essentially run around to fuck over Shinra trying to stop Meteor.. just because?
A road map and planned amount of parts can still be flexible. They don't have to follow the plan to an exact fucking T, but coming out and saying they didnt even finish planning what the 2nd game will have is beyond stupid. They have 0 idea what their doing after Midgar at this point and their not even embarrassed about it. Having no plan doesnt mean your flexible. Also stop quoting my whole fucking post the tag is there for a reason highlight what you wanna respond to.
Excuse me, I meant story instead of lore
Midgar was the only interesting part about the original aside from the twist with Zack.
Reminds me of China, like that bugman is gonna stomp on a little kid because someone is pointing a camera at him
Cid's firm booty and his strong arms and smell of cigarettes when he holds me in his arms
I went of from memory for the most part. Only looking back at some dissidia artwork for some detail.
Though I do have that picture downloaded so I guess subconsciously it probably did
It makes a lot more sense if you consider the (rumored) structure that Versus XIII was going to have and actually what the original plan for XIII itself was.
Both games were gonna be split into trilogies, the goal being that the first game would be a more linear, setpiece driven game, and the second and third games would get progressively more open ended.
The reason is because Nomura saw the writing on the wall for how difficult AAA development was going to become, and that Square didn't have the talent necessary to make a game the scale of modern open world games in a timely manner, which we saw was exactly the case with XV, which operated the opposite of Nomura's idea: they wasted all their time making the first continent, then had to cut the other two into tiny hallways, and had no meaningful content for the open world.
So I'm guessing what Nomura is doing here is the same thing. Episode 1 is a linear action fest with big flashy setpieces, Episode 2 is slightly more open but still limited in where you can go, and this buys them time to make Episode 3 have an actual open world comparable to the scale of the original game, which makes sense with the structure of the original game.
I wouldn't think this was a bad idea if not for the fact they're charging full price for each episode of what they know is really one game. It's almost literally early access, releasing what they have as they make it.
There's a lot between that, you know.
>just because
You're not necessarily wrong that it's filler, but the justification was that you guys were going to use it to stop Sephiroth somehow. You leave it with Copenhagen, and then well, he fucking DIES. I think. I'm not sure if Compilation retconned that.
it takes around 4 hours
He just sorta fucks off to never be mentioned again, really.
There was never an original plan for multiple games for XIII or Versus XIII. XIII, VxXIII, Agito, etc WERE the multiple games. Fabula Nova Crystalis. There's your multiple game plan.
Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark, Bugenhagen is a character in FFVII
>Foil Shinra's plans because you need the huge materia
>Never use it for anything
Considering how much damage the rocket did without any payload at all, I'm inclined to believe the plan could have worked
Although I guess Sephy could have just summoned a new meteor
Yes
If you revisit him, Red XIII implies he dies. That's also where you get either his Ultimate Weapon or his final LB.
Fuck.
You can let all the materia get away if you want, though, and it's the same effect. You're right that they could've probably at least minimized Meteor's damage by blowing it up, but you'd have to blow it up enough times that most of it burns up in the atmosphere.
Yeah, so? What the fuck is your point?
Final weapon. Final break is from vincent sidequest
That's it.
One thing they could improve on in FF7R is making the final weapons and LBs less bullshit and more difficult. Fuck Vincent's and Tifa's.
FNC isn't a multi game plan, it was creating a single mythology that could be used by multiple games, which is why each of those games has a completely different setting with no actual connection to each other aside from using the same mythology.
There are multiple rumors that XIII's story was planned from the beginning as a trilogy, which is indeed what we got, but sales of XIII-2 were so bad because people saw it as a spinoff instead of part two of a single story. Also XIII ended up being such a gigantic money sink with a disastrous development that they wanted to cut ties with the game pretty quickly.
>FNC isn't a multi game plan, it was creating a single mythology that could be used by multiple games, which is why each of those games has a completely different setting with no actual connection to each other aside from using the same mythology
This is a cool idea.
