They wanted to tell a story a different way and that was required to do it.

You will hear this guy again when a new ff7 related game comes out, just not on the remake.

Dan Castellaneta does a pretty good Genie and and Troy Baker did a nearly spot on Joker but those were landmark examples of voice acting so anything less than 100% and nobody's buying it. If the next Horizon Zero Dawn comes out they could replace Ashly Burch with literally anyone and I doubt I'd notice.

Kingdom Hearts tried to get as many celebs as they could for the english dub before switching to anime voice actor no names in the sequel. They couldn't afford Billy Zane, Lance Bass(Sephiroth) and Spike(Leon), and manage to give work to the then child actors in the future. Cloud's was the one one that stuck.

He's been voicing the male Jedi Knight in SWTOR since 2011 and he's the voice of Zangetsu in the recently released Bloodstained. Don't know if he's done anything besides these two though.
