PS4 is a social media and FIFA box with 3 exclusives
Switch is good; but, it is too early in to it's lifespan to compare
PS3 was an overpriced blu-ray/FIFA player that Sony started the movie games shit on; Journey and Resistance 3 were good though
360 wasn't awful but suffered from a shitty gen for multiplats and only had Halo 3 as an exclusive
Wii was waggle shit with only Mario Galaxy and a few other good games
OG Xbox didn't even have the excuse of it's Halo games not being on PC and actual good FPSs still somewhat existed at that point so no one had to settle for console kiddy shit
PS2 was a FIFA/DVD player which had some alright games like Shadow of the Colossus and some other stuff that no one remembers
Meanwhile Gamecube got it right

it was the last nintendo console to receive major 3rd party support on the level of PS/xbox. after this, nintendo systems became too underpowered compared to their competitors for devs to waste their time with them.

most of Wii /wii u games were shittier compared to game cube ones. GC had star fox adventures (tho it wasn't a star fox game, it was alright, and star fox assault which was good and had engaging multiplayer) wii had nothing and wii u had star fox Zero which was a piece of shit thanks to miyamoto and his gimmicks. No F-zero, no dark games like eternal darkness, no sports game except for mario tennis which was pretty much an alpha on Wii u and got good until the Switch version.

3d mario are a different subject because it's the main franchise of Nintendo so each iteration is different, the same as zelda. My main issue with the wii and wii u is that as always they focus on the shitty gimmicks for every fucking game, some people want a simple sequel that expands on the gameplay and story, not just add some shitty gimmick for the sake of "new" things like what happened to the paper mario franchise.

The wii is by default better than the gamecube but only because the wii was fully backward compatible with the gamecube. Otherwise I agree with you. The wii was a gimmicky console that didn't have anything too appealing to me;though I was an edgy teenager at the time. I now own a wii and I think it's fucking great, but again, mostly because I can play GC and VC games for free and it has analog output.

My main point with all this wasn't to see which console is better, but just to dispel this whole "soul" bullshit.

I love the gamecube and it's amazing library.
But just cause the wii sold more, doesn't mean it's "soulless".

I was born in 1993 and grew up with the Gamecube. IT WAS NOT A GOOD CONSOLE!!! TTYD, Puyo Pop Fever, RES4, Super Monkey Ball, MKDD, Mario Strikers, Melee, Kirby Air Ride were the only decent games.

It is a very interesting value question, since it ultimately depends on whether you are judging the Gamecube in vacuum or as a lesser PS2. The Wii's "odds and ends" selection covers a wider berth of game types too. I think I am on the side saying the Gamecube had better Nintendo games overall.

I really dislike Mario Sunshine. But putting my taste aside, there's almost no way you could say Mario Sunshine is better than Galaxy 1, 2, and NSMBWii. Also, you get the ports with better controls on the Wii like Pikmin and Metroid Prime. Whatever isn't ported can still be played because of backwards compatibility anyway so that makes the Wii superior. Just Xenoblade alone beats all of Gamecube's RPGs. Plus with the VC you could play classics too.

Not officially, but there are gba emulators with very high compatibility, but admittedly not 100%.

Can agree with all of that, Mario Sunshine was not one of the Nintendo games I'd consider better anyway. I'd put Sin & Punishment 2 over Star Fox as well, I think the only thing the Gamecube has that could compete would be Ikaruga, which is ultimately a port.
