And surprise, he actually likes playing RTS's, but man is he bad at them, forgets armory / unit upgrades, forgets to advance to next age, leaves villagers to idle, doesn't build additional town centers, only uses infantry and forgets there's cavalry

zoomers are afraid of the complexity, but if you get them to sit down and play an RTS with you, they'll realize how good they are

I started with the first Age of Empires when I was young and I have such fond memories. It was such a magical feeling to boot up a game like that for the first time, and all the mystery of exploring the black parts of the map, not really knowing what to do, and trying to figure out how the game works was really amazing.

I like how the aoe2 DE devs are really into keeping up with the community, you see it in the achievements names like "Castle of Doubt", its pretty funny

To be fair if he is forgetting to advance he won't get knights or the ability to build TCs, get the nigger to advance to Castle and also help him configure his hotkeys so he can go to buildings quicker. He also needs to learn about command groups.

I would suggest teaming up with your friends versus AI and showing him the ropes, until he's familiar enough to go and learn boar luring and fast castle

To make it less boring for you, pick up ResonanceBot AI to fight against, if you let it boom, it'll at least put up more of a fight than the normal AI so it wont be as boring for you

yea aoe2 is so fast game that you really need to learn hotkeys. unless playing turbo nigger maps, you can literally make food while playing on fast.

btw, resonancebot is awful, I hate it how the bot micromanages every single individual unit, try using onagers against those motherfuckers
normal AI rushes incredibly hard with knights but if you survive that wave, it becomes very passive, AOE2 isn't very good game to play against AI, PvP is where it's at

The biggest difference I've noticed with Resonance is that the AI definitely uses much more onagers and more efficiently, for sure

And I like PvP, but sometimes its more stressful than fun and I actually quite enjoy playing comfy team matches with friends
