How come these countries can't develop any big games like the Witcher 3 or something like that instead of mobile shit?
Considering that it has a big population, over 600 million people.
Closest thing would be KSP (developed in Mexico),game that sold millions, has a big community and even Elon Musk plays it, also Mexico produced one of Suda51 favorite games last year
why do so many people live there? is it arable? isnit it mostly mountains and rainforest?
Christopher Diaz
they're run by drug cartels and human traffickers.

We pirate everything and look at people who do programming as weak faggots (sóyboys) no real man would want to stay the whole day siting down typing so some autists on the internet can play it and then say your work was mediocre.

Jordan Lopez
You can clearly see in the image that the mountains are only the most westernmost part of the continent, and the rainforest part is mostly just the upper-middle part of the continent. Aside from that, there's plenty of usable land (Even the mountains are habitable, just look at the Incans who made a whole empire almost entirely using those mountains)
Andrew Bennett
Money. And those who have the money and the interest/skills to develop videogames just go abroad and get hired by bigger studios.
Anthony Richardson
So in other words it's just a continent full of retards who are too stupid to code

Because the people who actually want to make games here and are talented/dedicated enough to do so either move to Europe/USA/etc or do freelancer work for foreign projects since they'll get paid a lot better than if they were to work on something local.
Anthony Hernandez
As a fellow BRo, I can only speak for Hueland. I suppose the problem in here is twofold: 1- BRs don't consume culture/entertainment of any kind at all, so there's no much reason for starting a business like that. There's no market, it's not profitable. 2- To fix the problem above, games made in here would need to be internationally marketed, to try to reach countries that would actually buy the shit you made, and BR business people are too retarded to do so.

The minimum wage in Poland is 523 euros, in Brazil it's 227 and in Argentina it's 274 euros so you'd always want to work for something foreign even if you get paid whatever the minimum wage is in the United States or western Europe countries.

>Even the mountains are habitable, just look at the Incans who made a whole empire almost entirely using those mountains)
People forget that by the time the Inca Empire became a thing, civilization in that region was already like 1500-2000 years old.
Pic related shows the inside of a huge temple complex (Huaca de la luna) from like 1000 years before the Inca Empire built by the Moche. Huaca de La luna is probably the best preserved Huaca complex (there's tons of other murals, frescos, etc inside it beyond what's seen in this pic, well worth spending a few hours googling images, it's pretty gorgous), but there's hundreds of others from other cities both built by the Moche and other andean civilizations
Civilization in Mexico, Guatamala, etc is even older by another 500 years or so: There's nearly 3000 years between the first arguable city with pyramids, long distance trade, etc in 1400 BC and the Aztec. El Mirador is a city that had like 120,000 people and had a pyramid bigger then the great pyramid of Giza from like 300 BC, for example; and Teotihuacan a few hundred years later litterally gave Rome a run for it's money in a number of respects.
Not even a spic but it's a shame nobody is taught about any of this in schools beyond "Olmec built big heads, Maya were good at astronmy, Aztec sacrificed people, they and the inca got buttfucked by spain, the end"
m8, peru, bolvia, ecuador, etc is litterally one of the world's 6 major cradles of civilization, it's perfectable habitable provided you are using the agricultural techniques actually developed in the region, see Even the Amazon rainforest, while not having full blown civilization, had a few decently complex cheidoms and proto-civilizations which did extensive earthenwork and irrigration work all across the jungle that made agriculture there possible without actually needing to clear the trees.
That's nice and all but you'll still want to work for the employer that pays the most and they're almost always going to be from a richer country.
Logan Kelly

>unironically using foreign exchange market prices in a wage comparison based fucking retards

Obviously, if you're earning 1st world wages in a 3rd world country, you're going to live like a king.
Game development is work you can do from your own home (as an artist, for example) so I don't see why you can't compare them that way when you could feasibly land a job anywhere in the world.
The fact that they lived in Mountains and farmed the sides of mountains and hills using terrace farms automatically makes them much cooler. However the Aztec lake city of Tenochtitlan was pretty fucking cool. Imagine how comfy it must have been living in a city in the middle of a lake.

>still call it inca anyways
I agree Inca stuff isn't very aesthetic, and my preference is also towards Mesoamerican/mexician civilizations but Moche, Tiwanku (see pic) and Chimu stuff are all examples of andean civs with cool aeshetics
Are you fucking retarded? Even our Brazilian "desert" is habitable, by the poorest people. >They only eat this "yam" (referring to the manioc, then unknown to the Europeans), which is very plentiful here, and those seeds and fruits that the earth and the trees give of themselves. Nevertheless, they are of a finer, sturdier, and sleeker condition than we are for all the wheat and vegetables we eat. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letter_of_Pêro_Vaz_de_Caminha
Bentley Lopez
Also the Tiwanku had some really sick stonecutting skills, pic related
They get brought up in ancient ayy stuff a lot. That's another reason why the lack of education about these civilizations and cultures is so important: The whole reason it seems "mysterious" and stuff is because people aren't taught about how, say, the Inca, Aztec, Maya, etc actusally develoiped, with prior civilizations in their regions and how technology, politics.etc changed in each region over time.
No shit if you are only taught about a single city or pyamid they built after centuries or mileanna of development, withou8t being taught about any of that prior development, key political evenets, etc, it seems "mysterious" and like it came out of nowhere. If people were taught jack shit about european history and weren't taught about the greeeks, bronze age greece, mesopotamia, etc, and were just taugfht about the romans for like 5 minutes without and detail, people would wonder how the fuck they built the colloseum and think aliens did it too.
We have about a dozen of good games made in Brasil (e.g. Oniken, Odallus: The Dark Call, Toren, Knights of Pen and Paper, Chroma Squad). We can't develop because "brain drain" and how the fuck can we compete with Nintendo, Sony and any of these? Just have the Gov invest billions in a new vidya industry having barely no know-how and FOOD and SWEARS? Also vidya is a luxury hobby taxed as gambling (highly), so the "Brazillian Cost" is really high to foreigners to invest.
Leo Roberts

Low trust societies can't create high velocity economies like high trust ones, at least not without state intervention. It's also very hard for low trust nations to build up from small scale family businesses into large scale enterprises, although they make up for it in being very good at specialized niche markets that demand small scale businesses. We shouldn't expect them to create AAA game companies when they can very well create much more enjoyable indie/niche games.
Kayden Cruz
Friendly reminder that:
Mexico has the cheapest vidya prices in Latin America and the most affordable ones
Mexico is also the Latin American country that had contributed the most to videogames
Just last year, we had the best indie game according to Suda51, it was so popular in Japan that it's getting a physical release via Play-Asia
This one came to Switch/Xbone/PS4 and PC and got good reception, it's the best selling Latin American game on Nintendo e-shop and it's being published in Asia too
The only culture hues consume is telenovelas on the globo channel And if it's not on globo people don't give a fuck
Only the rich and some of our middle class actually consume media in form of cable TV, Netflix and vidya and the later two is mostly by late 80s and 90s kids, the older gen doesn't give a fuck to anything that is not on globo, and since globo is an open channel they see no need in wasting money on entertainment in general

It's good that you're not retarded and while brazil is very violent in a lot of places it obviously has several good and safe places to visit. The article doesn't seem particularly sure whether its Alberto or the Wright Brothers. It's popularly held, in Brazil, that Dumont demonstrated first, but upon reading up beyond the wiki it seems there's some disagreement on the dates, and whether what Dumont showed could be considered workable. Indeed, the problem seems to originate from multiple altered documents and stories. Some newer documentation seems to be nothing more than altered versions of older documentation found that wasn't destroyed or wasn't found. This puts a lot of question as to whether the records on Dumont are believable, and curries further issues. The manipulation and lies surrounding the documentation bring in question whether the dates are correct, and whether the idea that he preceded the brothers was simply manufactured to make Brazil look better.
Personally, after going through all this, Dumont seems more an exception to Brazil's people, rather than representative of them. As an Argentinian I have to say this reflects my experience with Brazilians. The few good ones you'll find would be better of living anywhere else.
Lucas Torres

Dumont was a rich elite who did most of his work in France
As a hue I also do remain critic of his claims, like flying around Parris in his prototype plane because he couldn't be bothered with other slower means of transportations In a time where his prototype would be THE ONLY plane in existence, where the fuck did he find so many landing strips to be able to take off and land all over Parris?

It wasn't public, so no one can really prove that the flight.
Only government, media and investors had access to it.
By the time the Wright made their first public flight, Dumont was mass producing Demoiselle.
He made a public flight. In France.
American people don't seem to understand what happens in poor/developing countries...
There's something called "brain migration", that means, that highly capable people flee the developing countries because they're hired by developed nations. There's a huge debate here in Brazil if the public college should continue to be free or privatized, because the "brain migration" is so high here, that we're using public taxes basically to train people so developed countries get the "mind".
I find that strange too.
But 14-bis flight definitely happened.

Argentina has the best and most extense grasslands in the world. It's 1853 Constitution was literally copied from the USA and by the first years of the XX century it had the same GPA per capita as USA. In France there was a phrase that went like "as rich as an Argentinian", and millions of europoors went by the hordes to Argentina, as they went to USA. Then the collectivists took power and it's one of the least free countries and is the country with the second highest business taxes in the world, the first being the island of Comoros. Actually the metal tools thing is interesting. North America has several buried cities that didn't seem to live anything like the American Indians the Europeans encountered. They're extremely overgrown. One site seems to have been primarily made of large wood logs, the second seems to be a combination of wood and stone.
The interesting thing about both sites were the metal axe heads found at those locations, extremely deteriorated.
It's almost impossible to research these sites because local tribes have deals that let them have massive control over bodies, and other elements, found in these regions. The result is we don't really know anything about the cultures that made the two cities in question, and hardly anything has been written and released about the two.
You'd think local natives would be incredibly interested in NA based Indian cultures who were actually building cities in grassy areas rather than the more desert bound 'cities' you typically hear about.
There's still been debate on the sites, especially concerning how the people in the area went from city building to the lesser tribal existence the Europeans encountered.
There are other accounts of Europeans hitting NA and finding buildings, stone ones, still standing. They're rare, and there are no structures in the areas these accounts describe, but there is one example of these encounters where the europeans describe re-using the stone from one of these sites themselves. So it's possible other structures were taken apart in this way, pre-cut stone blocks have proven to be free masonry for building in other areas of the world, after all, to the extent you had locals stripping blocks off the pyramid for local building purposes in Egypt. So it's not out of the question, though it's also hardly proof that could result in any certainty.

The countries are shit holes because they are socialists, shouldn't take you long to figure who's behind this. Just look at America.

For the longest time it had no real middle class. Still kinda doesn't (no, brazilians, living in a gated mansion behind three meter walls and armed guards is not middle class) and the middle class is who buys video games and where new devs come from. The south american entertaiment industry is kinda shit in general and barely has any presence outside of its home continent.

america has played a huge roll in starting coups every few years and having shady connections to cartels. however some of those countries have free college or at least cheap access to education, they should be capable of making something....

High populations skew the ratio. Lots of murders but when your population is in the billions, it evens out.
Brandon Martinez
yeah, and a shit ton of taxes to pay and also a stupid pan and circus culture where people get used to just ignore the shit they don't like as long they can keep watching their shitty telenovelas What it happens is that anyone who takes advantage of the free college and education will usually get the fuck off the country so they can put that education to good use and earn him/her some money

That's true, though I do actually re-format my posts/information every time I post it based on the specific posts i'm replying to and as I learn new stuff myself.
So a thread from like a year ago about, say, Maya water-mangement systems might have less info compared to if I talked about it now, or might have errors by now i've realized are in fact errors, etc.
There's also a lot of neat stuff i've just never posted on Yea Forums before. Like i've never happened to post about, say, the history or political setup of the Purepecha Empire (the second largest state after the Aztec in Mesoamerica who locked them into a standstill) before, or any super in depth posts about specifc events in Mesoamerican history with actual excerpts from historical records, quotes from specific aztec politicians, etc, since I only recently got my hand on Duran's History which is our main source for the super in depth info on that stuff, down to what X or Y person said.
I was planning on doing one about how Tenochtitlan conquered it's sister-city of Tlatelolco, including quotes/statements made by Axayacatl (The then king of Tenochtitlan), Tlacaelel (basically the then Aztec prime minister/grand vizer), Moquihuix (the then king of Tlatelolco), the actions of specific nobles/generals, etc, as well as the political leadup to the war, because it's actually hilarious, involving a bunch of aztec nobles basically going "ayy baby you want sum fuk?" to a tlalolcoan noblewoman, her insulting them and more or less calling their dicks small, them raping her, alongside Moquihuix litterally cucking one of his wives, who was also a Tenochtitlan-ian noblwoman, further pissing off Tenochtitlan, said wive having a preomniniation with her vagina talking to her, Tenochtitlan rusing Tlatelolco by having their nobles/king play ball nonchalantly when Tlatelolco's spies show up, etc.
Half of it is like something out of a cartoon, it's great.

Venezuela has VALHALLA and I believe there are some metroidvanias from Brazil, the rest of the countries simply don't have enough gaming background or creative drive to make anything original, most of their games are badly produced or carbon copies of things they liked in their childhood.
