that's actually not true. a lot of attacks are how you build momentum. lilac's divekick, cyclone (off of springs), and of couse dragon boost, all help her gain momentum. milla's shield bursts build the craziest momentum in the game. one of carol's strongest attack is wild claw which she does from her forward moving pounce, and if you're good you can keep chaining those to rip through stuff, that aside from her bike which tears through stuff when you boost anyway.

part of what's fun about combat is it makes you think about how to use your different tools effectively to deal with enemies, rather than the solution always just being jump on their heads.

Lilac's a water dragon. You can tell because she has a very long oxygen bar when she's under water.

All the 'moves' feel clunky, it might genuinely be a combination of 'git gud' and that I want to play it like a Sonic game, because it's practically halfway there inherently, but no matter what I seemed to do anything other than jumping over and outright avoiding enemies would result in having to mash some combo of attack buttons to deal damage, forcing you to stop.
I stand by the fact that any health bars on standard in stage enemies is the antithesis of good game flow.

Better example stylistically, this would fit right alongside the other characters and reads as 'dragon' no question.

Again, it was hard to pay attention... fuck I don't even know what was about with the panda characters, I just wanted to play a platform game, the onlyt hing that I remember about the story is that the green dude was an alien and that there was a torture scene.

Who is the developer you're talking about other than Strife? Strife is still working on the game, and nothing major has visually changed about the game since their first screenshots of it years ago.

And far as I know, it's been in a "when it's done" status since middle of last year. They'll just change their window to reflect whatever point they feel the game is at, but never gave any firm dates.

The Developer for the original FP was some deviant art weaboo who had an autistic attachment to Sonic and her autism is what turned what originally was going to be a Sonic fan game into FP because she wanted her own characters to be in the spotlight rather than Sonic like literally every single teenage Sonic fan ever.
She was also the one who wrote the story completely and refused to let anyone change any element into it which is why it's so laughably bad and cringy.

Now if you go to her Deviant Art page she still draws the characters but she'll instantly delete your comment if you mention FP2 because she apparently isn't part of development anymore. She had a blogpost a while ago, like almost 3 years ago, saying something along the lines of "I will never associate MY characters with FP from henceforth and the only reason I won't sue is because I don't have the money." When pressed on it she basically said "I wanted the main Villain and Sash to fall in love together and make Sash a villain for a while because she was too in love with the big bad to see through and in the end they would make him see the light and Sash would walk with him hand-in-hand into the setting sun."

She offered other details like how she wanted Neera to suffer limb loss and have to go through cybernetic therapy to become playable again and other shit like Carol getting jealous of Sash falling head over heels for the villain.

It was really really fucking autistic and she apparently wasn't going to budge on any of it just like last time so what ended up happening was the developers just decided to outright ignore her input at all and eventually just hired a freelance writer to develop the story. She's still in the Discord but she says she suspects everyone has blocked her because no one responds to anything she says.

the dodge is fine. it's basically just there so every character has something similar to the old wild kick option, since some people seemed to struggle in the first game with understanding i-frames for characters that weren't Carol. hopefully some enemy patterns get really aggressive along with it though.

I hope they release the sequel soon. I've spent as much time with the demo as the first game.

The long levels and difficult bossfights completely ruin the game, the shorter levels in the sequel will be a big improvement, annoying that there's still bosses but at least it's less bad when you only need to defeat one each level.
