What's your favorite Touhou game user?

During the last golden week PSN sale i watched 2 Touhou trailers and both of them looked like steam asset flip, complete and total garbage, almost a joke. RPG maker with hilariously clunky platforming.
Can any of you explain how Touhou games even work? I’m assuming i had the bad luck of finding the 2 worst ones, but it doesn’t look good.

Mainline games are made by a single guy who does, programming, music, character art etc. and it's a bullet hell style shooter. It's popular due to good bullet patterns, fair and challenging difficulty and charming artwork/girl designs.
What you've seen were fangames made by small studios. There are countless of those games out there, varying in quality.
If you want to start with mainline Touhou, I'd suggest Perfect Cherry Blossom or Mountain of Faith as both are fairly easy and good for a newcomer.
If you want to try out fangames, check out Koumajou Densetsu 1 and 2.
