Automata was genuinely mediocre. NioH had great gameplay despite the bland presentation and horrid loot system. 2019 has arguably been better with DMC5 and Sekiro.

No idea about DMC5 but after finishing Sekiro I still think that Nioh is the superior game.
The only thing Sekiro has over is is some of the bosses.
2017 gave me Prey, one of the finest System Shock clones I've played.

NioH was my favorite game of 2017 but the loot system held it back for me and mak8ng me never really want to pick it up again. NioH 2 looks to be more of the same and that makes me a bit sad.

I personally didn't mind the Diablo loot and I think it was one of the things that made Nioh unique.
Nioh 2 using the same loot made me happy because it means that Team Ninja will keep building on the fundamentals Nioh established instead of listening to the Soulsborne tourists.
