Daily reminder that Denuvo won, and piracy is but a thing of the past
It's not fair bros I just wanted to play Handball.
never EVER
That is objectively wrong but sure. Shit up this awful board some more.
>trials rising
NONONONONONO I NEED TO PLAY THIS SHITTY REMAKE OF A SHITTY FLASH GAME NOOOOOOOOOOOO
IT'S NOT FAIR
IT KEEPS WINNING
>Octopath
Really? That pixelled jrpg? How hard is it to crack it?
>Terrible game
>We can't even try it by pirating
Wait ... if you didn't try it, how do you know it's terrible?
It's been what, 3 months without a Denuvo crack? DMC5 was not even cracked just leaked by Capcom.
waiting for total war three kingdoms
Half of those games have always online drm or online being big part of the game on the top of denuvo which makes it pointless to crack.
why would anyone crack it? there are literally thousands of free RPGmaker games on PC that are better than octopath traveler
BASED
I played it on switch, and it's pretty good from graphics standpoint. 3D for thew world works great and spites are well made. I am not a fan of the plot, though.
The graphics are pleasing enough but they're really not a substitute for meaningful game design. All the levels are classic square enix hallways, and the entire story consists of 8 plain side quests where all but one of the characters that are apparently so important become catatonic and stop being relevant until you do their story.
It honestly feels unfinished, I bet they were forced to meet a deadline to get a big name RPG out on the switch so we got this garbage.
mega cope
hand crafted anti piracy/anti tamper code is much more fun and interesting an effective than denuvo
that's not a good thing, and i get all my games legitimately.
cope
I don't care because I actually buy games (unlike anime and music).
no, when game publishers or platforms go out of business, or decide to stop supporting a game, you can still get rid of the drm shit on your legit copies thanks to pirates. or even if you don't want denuvo to fuck up your pc and get more fps, then you also can get rid of it.
Not a single one of those games is good
It's got enough demand they'll probably figure it out if you're patient. Until then you can pirate that shit effortlessly on an older switch model
>all multiplayer or trash games
what did OP mean by this?
retard
But do you own your games? If u haven't bought a physical copy or got it from GOG. U basically don't own the game.
Meh, the only games I'm interested in are Octopath and Total war, but I usually play one/two battles in total war and get bored, while I can definitely wait a long while for them to crack Octopath, no need to hurry.
>Anno
NOOOOOOOOOOO
handball 16 was better anyway
make all games online multiplayer only and no-one will ever be able to have a reason to pirate your game.
Tons of Denuvo protected games have been cracked and pirated.
Surely if even one game using Denuvo can be cracked then they ALL can be cracked... right? I'm assuming that's how it works.
for the past 10 years there was not a single game i actually wanted to play and did not get my grubby mitts within 2 weeks tops of its release.
e-except Handball 17 :((
Or just emulate the switch version
But it's really not worth it, game was highly underwhelming
The thing that actually killed piracy as hard as it can be killed is steam.
Denuvo is just a minor inconvenience for the legit buyers.
The trick is that steam make original games better than the pirate games in several aspects.
For example, if you want to download an oldish game, chances are, the thing will either not have any seeders, or just a slow seeder or only available on some stuck up ass hell of private server.
Meanwhile steam gives you ANY game at as fast as your internet can go pretty much.
I bought a bunch of old games i enjoy for this exact reason.
Now all Denuvo make is make the eventual cracked version slightly better.
The game in question has nothing to do with how hard it is to crack it. How did you manage to become this dumb?
Or buy it.
I download plenty of old games at a good enough speed, i would've say that maybe i'm just lucky that the games i like have plenty of seeders but i download too many games for that to be the only reason.
just yesterday i downloaded CnC generals in a little over 30 minutes.
you might as well have said kill all games so no one plays all together.
You're probably quite lucky, but i bet steam is faster on your machine as well.
but loads of zoomers play online, even for single player experiences nowadays. It might kill gaming as we know it, but it will lend us a healthy buck for our profit margins
>muh physical copies
Fuck off retard. From over a hundred of physical copies of games I've had I only have access to seven now (if we don't count an option to pirate them), one of them not even in physical form but from Steam key I asked my mom to email me. Because I'm not going to bother taking my pile of CDs with me when I'm moving to the other side of the continent. And even if I could bother to take all of them with me some of CDs could've been damaged.
Videogames are the most profitable entertainment industry today, by a large margin.
Lol no, when code monkeys these days make a custom protection it can usually be defeated with few patches, it's always some faggot who thinks he's smart because he included a file check somewhere later in the game
Effective protection schemes take months to develop
its still more effective and fun
I assume you have reversing knowledge to back your opinion up? What about inner workings of Denuvo make it not fun and ineffective compared to some shitty file checks?
well for starters denuvo just fucks everyone, rather than fucking specifically pirates. id at least like to get this out of the way first
what makes hand crafted ones special is that its only visible to the ones that fuck up. while its a simple gag that usually just catches retards saying "i have [problem that only shows when pirated] how do i fix it?" but other times it causes crack groups to push out false starts thinking they succeeded when it only shows up later down the line.
obviously the security side of things denuvo wins hands down, but its the way they craft things that matters more. if you have an educated pirate on your team, why WOULDNT you make use of them and their knowledge to make other pirates jobs harder? depending on the method it can genuinely be more effective than some gay anti-tamper shit like denuvo. sure you can just patch out the checks or whatever else, but that assumes its that simple.
all youd really need to do is make anyone who knows how to RE just give up. refer to the 2 videos below and you might get where im going with this

instead of paying to use denuvo, you could instead just make your application some super obnoxious shit to reverse engineer, where the only way to crack and pirate it, is to have one extra dedicated team just trying to make this less cancerous to handle. if its on console you may have a lot more problems doing this since sony/ms/ninty have standards and can reject things. pc you can do damn near whatever you want
im not saying its more secure, but it sure makes pirates and crack groups want to kill themselves in the process, whereas denuvo is just a game of cat and mouse
bump

This rarely happens these days with Steam games because groups already know such tricks and incorporate hooks in their Steam emulators to defeat things like original steam_api.dll checks by default. Not to mention some have actual testers who play shit before release.
>instead of paying to use denuvo, you could instead just make your application some super obnoxious shit to reverse engineer, where the only way to crack and pirate it, is to have one extra dedicated team just trying to make this less cancerous to handle
This guy is talking about obfuscation and Denuvo uses exactly that, a VM obfuscator which makes it super obnoxious to RE? The largest exe section contains all obfuscated code, two or three hundred megabytes per game. Only low skill crackers give up upon seeing obfuscated code.
movfuscator is impractical by the way, one frame of Doom per 7 hours: github.com
Man, fuck this yelling dude from the cover. I didn't even want to play your shit game, i don't care if it gets to 4 digits of uncracked days.
Download speed isn't an issue when the biggest games are only a few GBs.
all im trying to get as is that denuvo is a meme and theres better ways to protect the game without sacrificing performance or size of executable.
mov is impractical, but when the day comes where it isnt that ridiculous someone somewhere will utilize it just to fuck with people.
im looking more toward the future rather than the present because while tech moves forward, old methods that are still a pain in the ass exist. libcrypt for example still plagues ps1 discs from being dumped perfectly because that's its whole purpose. its over 20 years old and is still a problem. certain ways of handling security will always be an issue no matter what happens. i just hope denuvo doesnt suck as much in the future, or that devs include their own methods just to have some fun. i miss when devs cared enough to do shit like this, but now they expect me to pay full price for a drm ridden half started product plus dlc and season passes with day 1 patches that include everything they should have. or just fuck with pirates the way game dev tycoon did because thats also fun
