All of the advanced mechanics in CTR have cringy, dumb or nonsense names like sacred fire, saffi fire and speed ghost because they were invented by edgy teenagers back in 2004. These names are not official and they just stuck because they were the only names they had and the first ones to be used. It was a different time back then and everyone was trying their best to be really cool and badass on all of those early gaming forums. The boost system changed slightly. You can keep USF (Blue Flames) if you continue boosting, and to me in general it feels like they tweaked it so it's harder to keep a huge boost, but easier to keep boosts in general going.

Also, the boosts pop you forward a little now as posted
It seems to make a little harder to make those extremely close turns in general now, and shortcuts are far easier to reach (except for sewer speedway, which is not easier/harder but way fuckier). It's a good transition generally though.

CoT Tiny is a testament to how little the people who made the game actually cared about the franchise. Not only did they change his personality for the worse but they also made him represent the wrong SPECIES.

Iirc, there was a rumor that Crash of the Titans started out as a new IP but was dressed up in the carcass of Crash Bandicoot, in order to fool people into buying it. The gameplay in CoT and MoM is actually pretty solid while also having a multitude of unique mechanics (as of Mario Odyssey, not so much). However, not content in what they had made, they tried to double-dip their audience. The end result? People who liked Crash hated it and people who WOULD HAVE liked it, never played it because it was a Crash Bandicoot game.

PS4 user here. God fucking damn it I knew I had to move to Kiwiland when I had the chance. This wait is killing me.

Muscle memory is really really dangerous here. I tried my usual calibration tracks: Tiny Arena, Papu Pyramid and Sewer Speedway.
For the first two laps in Tiny Arena I constantly hit every wall at every turn, boosting+turning without a path in mind is absolutely unforgiving, after the first boost you are already too wide on the curve. After some laps I realized air time helps a LOT with tweaking your intended path so I could easily do all those turns that seemed impossible with a powerslide.
Some turns are still pretty hard to re-learn (the square turns in Papu Pyramid) but I only did a couple races so I can calibrate more.
I can't quite explain explain the sensation of "different" you feel in the first race, you have to feel it yourseves. But I can assure you that you can get back to the old muscle memory with some tweaks.

What's really different is the JUMP. The jump is odd and sometimes you jump a lot without any reserve boost, and then suddenly with max USF and a mask you aren't able to jump high enough to reach a shortcut platform.
More to come on jumps as I do more races.

AND LAST BUT THE ONLY BAD THING IS THE WALLS
Fucking walls, as soon as you get too close you fucking completely hit the wall and lose all speed, and if you go ham into a wall you bounce back slightly in the wrong direction and it's hard to get back to the track without having to do a 270°. Plus, that ghost froggy-turning you used to do in the OG CTR to rapidly do a 180 in place is no longer doable, so turning around when you are agaisnt a wall is SLOW

WALLS PART 2: all the full-pipe and some of the half-pipe sections are a disaster if you were used to drive vertically and bounce from a side to the other. As soon as you go too high on the pipe you get violently pushed DOWN and you lose all your speed. I managed to lose my first sewers race because I kept losing my speed along the way.
