I think it's been no secret GameFreak's been copying Yo-kai Watch for some time now. It really shows too, since the similarities are uncanny but poorly executed.
Yo-kai 3 alone is an impressive title with how much crap you can do, and even has online co-op with bros.

Yo-kai Watch is announcing shit at Anime Expo, and given the current criticisms lobbied at Game Freak over their supposed technical limitations, I can see YK gaining a lot of traction with 4.
I tried and wanted to like it, and while the music, writing, and premise were comfy as fuck, the piss-easy gameplay couldn't hold my attention. At least you can do a Nuzlocke in pkmn which makes it a fun challenge

The issue I find with L5's sequels is that so much goodies and buffs to some actions are added in them that they make the previous games obsolete with their existence.
