So far most of the shards in the game are really good. There's naturally a few gimmick shards but almost every shard when leveled up can deal a ton of damage and/or fill the screen with shit.

You can stomp her head in bunnygirl mode stupidly fast and it wracks up some crazy damage, that's how I did it.

I don't know the percentage, but I just got the double jump ability. I'm kinda of annoyed because of course they included a fucking crissaegrim type weapon that attacks as fast as you hit the button, attacks in that same wave arc, and allows you to move and attack at the same time. It's trivializing combat and it's not even an uncommon weapon. it drops off those evil barber guys. I'm having to force myself to use the viking longsword again so that there's some challenge again. that aside, I'm fucking loving this game. literally symphony of the night 2.0 (fuck all the gay boy games this is the real successor). also, anyone else laugh at NOT alucard?

A much larger area of attack. You have nearly a full circle's range of attack. Plus there's shit you can get to swing a greatsword faster.

as you explore the dungeon you'll find crafting recipes for tons more weapons that johannes can make. there are also plenty of weapons you can just get without crafting either as random drops or in treasure chests

I'm just 40 minutes in and gameplay-wise this is already the best Castlevania. On Nightmre the first enemy has

1. A weak point that promotes hitting a certain spot
2. An attack that hits you if you try to run away but has a safe spot near the enemy

This kind of depth is what elevates metroidvanias from tedium to masterpiece. I had my doubts, but it seems that IGA is the real deal. This in so many ways feels like a continuation of the genre he helped develop. Entering a new room doesn't fill in the entire thing on the map so that you know you only just took a peek and can go back to explore more of it later.

When you deplete his health bar, he steals all of your gold and uses it to heal, and it becomes his new health bar. Unfortunately, I have 50,000 gold with me, which makes the second phase of the fight nearly impossible.

I could spend all my gold to make the fight manageable, but then I'd be totally broke, and that would suck ass.

Is there an extremely cheap tactic to cheese the fight? I don't normally cheese fights, but if the game is going to basically punish me for being rich, that kinda feels like shitty design and I just want to get past it using whatever cheap method works.

the swing speed gets much faster if you dump lots of resources into the greatsword expertise skill, plus the other attack-speed boosting skill that those birds in the cathedral drop

It ranges from pretty good like the save and transition rooms or the large cathedral room to stuff like the Twin Dragon arena where you can see that the smoke inside is just a textured pillar with black space around it or "did this even properly load?" moments like the textures in the water cave below the bridge at the castle entrance.

If classic mode is going to be the game but in classicvania style, I sincerely hope they get someone who can made decent 8bit art, because the 8bit hidden level in this game looks worse than Castlevania 1, which shouldn't be possible.

I have 100% map completion with 11 hours in, have breezed through every boss and yet O.D. is kicking my ass. The only thing I have figured I can do during his ZA WARUDO is to use the directional shield. He just has so much HP

Go to town. Do the first few murder quests. Go back, get the rewards. Use the rewards to fund the burials. Get pizzas from the burials. Give riceballs and one pizza to the old lady. Bam, two full pizza heals and some decent armor.

Borrow the last book he offers, he will make a comment about it being especially important. Then go to the ice area. He will appear and fight you. Hardest fight in the game imo

Assuming gear isn't a problem or can be easily fixed (ie: grabbing an 8-bit weapon if your weapon is too weak). Zangetsu is a fairly straightforward boss, since he can guard attacks your only actual ways to hit him are after he attacks or if you hit him from behind. Generally speaking it's a reactionary fight where you're either dodging high or low. If he goes high(chain dash up or jump attack) you go under him, if he goes low(akuma-esque dash/kunai toss) you jump over the attack and punish. He also doesn't guard when he applies the talisman on his blade so thats an opening you can also exploit for a few hits

Just stand on the ceiling. Literally the easiest boss fight in the entire game.

He's pissed off and fight you to death, after you kill him he's not actually dead and let you take all of the books in the library

On normal he only has 1000 HP even with just a piddly 15 dmg weapon you're still removing 1/20th of his hp per opening(assuming you get 3 hits in). Alternatively craft or find a better weapon, 8-bit coin weapons are fairly easy to get and should be level appropriate.

The bonus bosses are level 50 according to the archive but honestly it doesn't matter, play how you want. Although it would be easier to collect those shards later on when you get better luck boosts.

Does black belt and the prowess tome stack for attack speed?

Everything stacks, even after you've got a passive version of a shard you can equip it to have double the bonus

Jump kick off of a enemy first and you can make it hit the walls up there too.

You can actually get up there as soon as you get double jump. Jump as soon as you enter the room from the right, kick straight down for a boost off the Dullahammer's head and your second jump will reach the platform. Just did it earlier.

For the people that have no idea what to do after getting a game over:

Double jump have multiple areas in the library you can use it at. And the cathedral there is a special spot to use it and kill the blood lady.

First you need to jump down in the secret well and kill the fish-like enemies to get swimming underwater.

Then you get to the bottom right secret desert area to get waterwalking.

An ability which changes gravity and turns you upside down needs to be found. You get it in a volcano like area at the bottom left.

If you have invert and go back to the second tower of twin dragons, you can get an armor that makes you immune to spikes and such. You use that one to get to the top left area of the castle.

After you fight the Snake a second time, you get his sword. Use that sword on the moon during Gebel's fight when it turns red.

The buer familiar does more than twice as much damage at max grade compared to having 1 copy. The holy spell that takes diamonds to craft also absolutely increases in damage with grade

Okay level with me are guns just strong or something or is the bonus "super" boss OD not as bad as people made it out to be? Went into the fight with 30 AP/HP bullets(~150 dmg per bullet) and 20 Crit bullets(~200-250, 350 if it crits) and still managed to bring it low enough to finish with regular bullets. Granted I still had to pop a few Hi-potions since I didn't think I'd actually kill it on a first go, but he wasn't that bad, a lot of its attacks were easy to dodge.

If you fight him you can take every last book of his at once.

Hardest boss in the game tho.

He only spawns if you go through his boss room holding the "ultimate" book of his. If you put the book back or don't have it then you're gold.
