Oh for sure, I don't really expect them to change that any time soon either, nor should they. A game being entertaining is the sole focus they should go for. I just roll my eyes whenever someone says X or Y game has good writing when half the time it's just not shit.

KH was passable for an anime plot with its own wacky in-universe logic, but after the first two games it went from "This is goofy but it works" to "Lol let's just throw out the previous rules each new iteration and retcon the prior entry so this one seems more important". For instance, the whole idea behind Xion's character originally was how people grasp for things they know will go away, but her coming back in KH3 and fucking becoming human shits all over that. Not to mention everyone can have a keyblade now, and the countless other problems with its story. People forget that, despite the silliness, KH1's story was actually quite traditional in design, and executed very well - it's just the sequels that go on to ruin it all.

I mean yeah. I enjoy it because it's stupid, but the gameplay for 1 and 2 are solid so overall it's still a very good game.

It depends. KH1 writing is simple and novel enough where it's leagues better than anything after it purely due to it knowing what it is and not trying to go bigger. KH3 writing isn't worse than 2, but this also isn't the complaint I've seen mostly. The game is significantly worse than 1 and 2, not the story.

Mostly true. Play Planescape Torment, it's the only exception to this rule to my knowledge.

There's a huge difference between a literal movie and a game with a thick plot or cinematic delivery. You can't complain about Yea Forums circlejerks here when your stance of "games have to be 100% pure gameplay all the time" is an even bigger and more prevalent hivemind opinion here. It's one of the things that prevent the medium from advancing, really - people screech at you for suggesting these things, as if it will suddenly kill off all other genres even though we know that not to be the case.

You legit don't understand that nobody actually thinks KH has writing that is "good" per se. They just realize that it has some likable characters in a nutso story that retcons itself every single entry but also has some really touching stuff sprinkled in there as well. The fact that Nomura is able to pull the stupidest bullshit in terms of retcons and corny dialogue and still make you want to see where it goes is pretty mystifying.

unironically I hate the way every game has a meta now.It's probably because of the internet meaning everyone who plays has to be at least tat a certain level of competence to compete, but i really miss local multiplayer with my friends who also sucked and were playing to win, but also to have fun. like instead of rushing to the obvious good gun spawn in goldeneye or whatever you might fill a room with proxy mines. It's inefficient if your only goal is to chalk up another W on your stat page, but it's chill as hell.

Double jumping in a platformer (especially a 3D one) is a cheap bandaid for bad controls or movement mechanics. There are almost no good platformers that feature double jumping
