Activision have been horrible at managing talent they have. But it doesn't surprise me at all to these these studios doing well, VV had always made decent stuff under huge time constraints (CNK, the GBA crash games) and TFB were relegated to Skylanders, which was shit but clearly a well made game

Doing oxide ghosts on original. Why is it that sometimes after you do three boosts, and then go to start a new chain, your character will randomly just bounce back up sometimes? This causes me to hit walls and shit and fuck up all of my momentum. And sometimes my character will start boosting in the wrong direction. Is it a game thing, or is my controller fucked?

This is what I don't understand either. The originals sold very well in Japan, and the NST sold extremely well in the West but flopped over there. Not enough marketing I guess?

Classic is the original eight roster, with their original colors and standard kart. Nitro adventure is whatever you have unlocked, even for the CPU, and you can change character and kart during the adventure mode.

That kinda stinks. I get why they did it, but I was hoping I could use someone like Crunch in classic mode to escape the random AI colors/karts.

I'm guessing the main reason is because you unlock bosses by beating them, and it wouldn't make a lot of sense to race ripper roo as ripper roo. But I mean they really could have allowed you to pick non boss characters after you've unlocked them. DESU I don't even know if that is the case, but I assume it is for the sake of consistency.

I guess that makes sense.
The main part I don't get is there's no special animations depending on who you choose. All 8 of them still just sit there with their idle animations during the cutscenes, so it's not like they have to reanimate all the cutscenes for the 26 characters or anything.

Random ass question. I was trying to gameshark CTR by making players 2-8 into Crash, Papu Papu, Komodo Joe, Pinstripe, N. Tropy, Penta Penguin, and Fake Crash, just to see something different. However the game will crash. I know that you can never race against CPU Penta, Tropy, or Fake Crash, is this why? These characters just don't have any assigned AI? I can do a race of 8 Ripper Roos just fine and nothing bad happens.

All of the new characters are from the second crash racing game. Well, Crunch was from Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, and N. Trance was from Crash Bandicoot 2 for the GBA. But the rest are new characters for CNK. Krunk, Nash, Norm, and Geary are all bosses from CNK, and Real Velo is the real version of the final boss from CNK, who used a fake robot suit that is not yet confirmed to be in this game.

It's why I can't completely hate CNK; it's not the best game, but it was an honest attempt, as misguided as it was or as inexperienced as the developers might've been. There's some genuine heart that it's trying to do something unique, rather than corporately milk off of CTR.

They should've replicated the PS1 background and skybox visual style more, Simplified enemy design, tweaked the flying for Spyro one, Uncensored the tommy guns from Twilight Harbor and spend maybe 2 more months polishing the third game. It's fun. You have to work for your speed instead of just picking your speed at the beginning of the match. There are multiple systems at play which makes mastering the way turbos work interesting.

Reignited has worse skyboxes, worse colors, fewer animations overall, some of the NPCs like the guys in Idol Springs are just flat uglier and so are Gnorks etc, and I hate the modern cartoon aesthetic is has where everything looks like chunky clay or play-doh cobbled together. That last part is most offensive and most noticeable in Icy Peak.

I'm getting both. Feels more at home on PS4 but I don't have PS+ and don't use my PS4 enough to justify buying it. Actually got both as the Nitros Oxide edition but the Switch version only ended up costing like $30 because I had two $25 giftcards that I guess were just full sitting in my room.
