No. Hitting the block and letting them have it is since it forces them to stop while the obstacles keep cycling, often out of their favor. It's especially effective when it's a close race and you're at Bowser's castle, since they could get hit and have to stop again.

I'm afraid to say that caused a desync for me lad. Whether it's the damage thing or the use of the arrows for flying (or W for big jumping), I don't know. Also I did give myself some lives but I'm pretty sure I've done that before without a desync.

I personally have a method which DOESN'T cause a desync. Not sure if I should post it because the dev will probably just patch it like he's patched all the other hacks we've had. It works though, seen here:

Does it desync for activating flower? I guess I wouldn't be surprised since it does the same thing for star power.

I'm guessing what's going on is that normally you would grab an object, and getting the object is what triggers the special functionality. He might have put the star() method and power variable as red herrings, to deter us cheaters. Notice how the star() method, if used, doesn't kill any other players, only enemies.

Anyway I've got a method for cheating which thankfully doesn't cause a desync, which is nice. I might try and obfuscate the hell out of it so I can post it without the dev realising what his problem is, because if does, he'll just patch it like he's patched all the other hacks we've had.
