Because it's not a VR headset for the PC.

because it's a gimmick fad that is already: ogre

Friendly reminder that PSVR can't hold a candle to Oculus

I'm bored of VR. There's nothing good to play.

>VR without the fun mod/community made PCVR content
What's the point? what the fuck do you even play on a walled garden standalone aside from boring ass beat saber and pavlov?

name one game thats relevant on PC and not on the Quest

Attached: quest.jpg (1604x3526, 1.57M)

I do. It's great.

I regret buying this shit.

ETS2.
CM3D2

Boneworks.

Trover Saves The Universe.

Off the top of my head
H3VR

Arktika.1
Doom3/BDVR
House of the dying sun
Gorn
Virtual Virtual Reality
Jet Island
BallisticNG
Contractors
Dirt Rally
Subnautica
The Forest
Thumper
VTOL VR

The real question is what do you actually play on the quest? you get a tiny library of cookie cutter crap and all while getting a massive downgrade on visuals while supporting fucking facebook.
How could you possibly justify it?

Boneworks
Blade & Sorcery
Trover Saves the Universe
Will literally never have knuckles controller

>youtu.be/RpCwXbIW6kU?t=188

Elite Dangerous, Truck Driver 2 are one of the best VR sims available and Payday 2 is the best VR shooter. The games on that list are mostly gimmick tech demos.

Gorn and Blade and Sourcery are coming eventually

vr is just fucking lame. the games are fucking lame, the visuals are lame, the porn is lame. waste of cash. wake me up in 50 years.

Because I'm getting an Index with Knuckle controllers. It might be half the price, but it's a far worse experience.

My vive is collecting dust, I only use the Quest rtn

waiting for Tetris Effect on PC

I wouldn't expect much from Gorn or Blade and Sorcery on the quest, given the reputation of ARM calculating physics even when passively cooled.

Don't have the money, otherwise I'd have one one day 1.

bought a tpcast wireless a while ago and still don't use it

Jesus christ what did they do to that to get it running on that thing

Kek Trover is barely a VR game in the first place. I actually beat it and liked it quite a bit but there was no reason at all it needed to be VR, and as a game it was a pretty bog-standard platformer.

Because either you play what Oculus lets you play (so no Pavlov for example) or you stream from your PC with 80ms latency. The only reason to buy it is if you're one of those weirdos who is playing this shit at airports, on the bus or in the park

>remove advances shaders
>remove dynamic shadows
basically

Attached: roborecall2-quest.webm (800x800, 3M)

Same reason I don't but consoles
>No mods
>Only supported games
>No piracy
>Worse visuals
>No way to customize your experience
>Can only play video games, nothing else. (At least not well)
And most importantly
>Giving money to facebook

Made it look like an actual mobile game, which is kind of fitting

>The only reason to buy it is if you're one of those weirdos who is playing this shit at airports, on the bus or in the park
or if you're an adult with a house and don't want to have to go to your office to play VR

Aside from game optimizations the Quest is able to overclock the fuck out of its phone processor (resulting in up to 3-4x performance) and compensate with a large cooling fan that couldn't fit in any phone. That's why on paper it seems like an underpowered piece of shit but in practice it's a lot more capable.

>no Pavlov for example
its coming tho

I have a Rift S. It's my first VR anything, it's pretty great but I hate the cord, my out of focus eyeballs and I want higher resolution and higher FOV.

Waiting for the Steam sale to buy more games and I'm not really keen on buying shit from Oculus when I'm not sure if the next hmd I buy will even be made by them. Don't want to be tied down.

It looks worse than hl2 for fuck sake.

Attached: hl2.jpg (1920x1080, 422K)

Too much money, no games, I don't have the space for it

My Samsung Odyssey+ is sitting in my closet, untouched for months. I fell for the fad.

What's wrong with your office user

>play what Oculus lets you play
>so no pavlov for example

How retarded can you be? Pavlov is already playable on the Quest through sideloading, so you're wrong on both counts there.

youtu.be/CF8vjAhs2D8

There really aren't that many must-play VR games, and those that are are on PSVR not PCVR. I literally bought into PCVR just for shooters and beatsaber

i preordered the index kit with market place steambux.

youtube.com/watch?v=DG_7r5huQ7Y#t=02m00s

Someone made an actual video comparing the two

Same. Played the entire thing in VR and then after beating it tried collecting the green power babies in base game mode and it just felt weird. Was under the impression you would actually move and play as Trover rather than warp every few yards. Aside from that it's a fun little game.

There is piracy. Check GazelleGames

He was half right.
It's not like you can just play any x86 VR game that comes out, it needs to be heavily downgraded and ported.

Well yeah no shit, it runs on a different OS entirely. That's like complaining that an Xbox doesn't play PS4 games.

>That's like complaining that an Xbox doesn't play PS4 games
Isn't that what Yea Forums is

>That's like complaining that an Xbox doesn't play PS4 games
Not really, more like complaining that Xbox 360 doesn't play PS3 games.
It's a hell of a struggle to port an xbox 360 games to ps3, but no trouble at all porting an xbox one game to ps4 because it's the same cpu architecture.
If the situation was reversed it would be fine, PC has the overhead needed for a translation layer between x86 and ARM instruction sets, but porting an x86 game to ARM will be a literal nightmare every single fucking time.

I don't know if there is a worse path that a VR company could possibly take.

Attached: Quest users.webm (640x360, 2.84M)

He even wrapped his lips around a virtual dick

IMO it's a necessary sacrifice for the first iteration of self-contained VR. I'm not really sure why anyone was expecting a fully functional Win10 PC with a 1070 equivalent GPU in a single headset in 2019. And even if they managed that it would be insanely expensive.

>vr
Tried my brothers last summer for a few months, can't play anything that has movement it legit made me sick for days.
Had some friends try it and I'd say 50% could actually play without some issue ruining the experience.
The only interesting title was vrchat, everything else was a tech demo

I just think it's a massive waste of everybodys time, people are treating VR like the advent of smartphones thinking it's just missing a more user friendly big iphone moment, but it's really a lot more comparable to the first 3D accelerated graphics cards.
Adoption will be slow, experimentation will be the focus and the fruits will be picked in 10 years, there's no reason to rush it and have the ecosystem consumed by a bullshit company leaving a sour taste in everyones mind.

I have a Oculus DK1, DK2, Gear VR and a Vive. I am now contemplating buying a Quest despite never using my VR-Kits. I just want a Quest to be able to experience and unlimited play space. I want to know what it's like to walk around a huge Fotball field while playing the games. Did anyone try playing in a massive space just walking around worlds?

Attached: 1459640104682.jpg (1620x599, 290K)

Just get the wireless adapter for Vive. Wait for the Index. I can vouch the inside out tracking of Quest is fucking sweet and step in the right direction, but far from perfect. How come you never use your DKs? Is it bc faceborg locked out a lot of the software once the rift was made?

What we really need are the HMD's with eye-tracking so we can truly have "infinite" movement, without bumping into shit. I think there are some that have eyetracking but are absurdly expensive. The infinite movement gimmick is really just scanning whats in front of you and comparing it to your in-game gaze and then slightly reorient the game world such that you avoid physical obstacles.

Attached: 1560921924889.jpg (1024x577, 110K)

There's a modding scene, yeah.

This.
Facebook is focused on dumbing down VR for normies when the hardware/software is nowhere near ready for mass market. Its completely misguided and counterproductive

>when the hardware/software is nowhere near ready for mass market
Actual reception and library of the Quest says different

Think Osu or Stepmania where people manually import and make their own levels for songs then upload it. Also means you're at the mercy of people doing maps for songs you like and actually making them good

Post quality qts
youtube.com/watch?v=0t4dvkKZPAw

>but it's really a lot more comparable to the first 3D accelerated graphics cards.
Except 3D was big business.

VR in its current form is absolutely a companion piece to regular gaming.

If I was to compare it to something, I'd have to go with the fucking Neo Geo. That's the most accurate in terms of concept, it brings arcade experiences into your home, except with a major space and cost requirement.

The real problem is that these arcade experiences are nowhere near as good as the stuff that actually came out on the Neo Geo. VR is a fucking wasteland of indie garbage, when the best MP shooter is literally just a one-man clone of CS with custom map support, it's very obvious that there's just no work going into this on the software side.

Buying VR is like buying a Switch, except without even the promise of Zelda or Mario.

Seen with my own eyes no less than 4 normies order quests via their phones after doing a single beat saber song.

Think you've lost touch with normies

what are some actual fucking games

Normalfags are very easily swayed, the reality is that all of those Quests will be tucked into a drawer within a month or two.

I bet half the reason they bought them is because they're unfit and they think it's a "fun" way to exercise.

H3VR is the only thing even approaching a game currently available for VR. And it's still really more of a tech demo, it just happens to have a reasonable amount of content as long as you can make your own fun.

Everything else is garbage, with no exceptions.

oh no no no no no

Also Elite Dangerous. It's honestly one of the best VR experiences I have had, and pretty much the only game that I regularly play with VR.

First class citizenship in vrchat

same could be said for Wii's but people still count that as a success

The Wii sold an absolute shitload, the Quest is doing pretty poorly despite a massive ad budget.

What do I do with my rift now that Gen 2 headsets are coming out?

Attached: 1553141695295.jpg (400x400, 34K)

PC will be second class by this time next year, there will be far more quest users than PC, and PC users will be forced to adapt or just look like NPC droids

Got a Vive and an X52 HOSAT on launch. Resolution in the goggles was much worse then I'd imagine, and I'd rather just use my 1080p screen and headtracking.

I might hack it later for stuff, but right now its the dusty thing I own.

Cannot wait for the next fuckin update, gonna climb everywhere

I already have a Rift CV1 and Quest doesn't really do anything I want from a VR headset anyway. It's an entirely worthless product as far as I'm concerned.

There's brainlets on v that think the Wii was a failure because it wasn't a powerhouse that gave us 4k Mario in 2007

>No beat saber
>No Superhot

Complete waste of time and money

Wha you don't wanna buy them again without cross buy?

Are you comparing Quest's numbers to the Wii? Really? Not to mention the Wii was cheap as fuck to make, Nintendo is beloved and has a long history in gaming with the most established franchises in all vidya.
How much profit is Zuck pulling on every Quest? Probably negative profit. And they had dogshit for launch titles, almost everything the Quest has are dumbed down versions of shit we've been playing for over a year now.
This shilling is retarded, every day Facebook pushes actual enthusiasts away in favor of ADHD normalfags that will wander off because they were low commitment to begin with.

Are you actually retarded?
oculus.com/experiences/quest/section/274907549851488

If enthusiast means VRChat discord trannies then I prefer the normies

Nice attempt at deflection there while avoiding basically everything I brought up but it's a complete non sequitur and you've definitely spent more time in VRChat than I have.
You Quest shills really are scum, glad people are getting fed up with this shit everywhere. Heh "normies."

Attached: [VRオナホ].webm (960x540, 2.64M)

If I knewthis was coming out before I wouldn't have wasted 200 on a fucking oculus go

The only thing that makes me interested in VR is flight simulation.
Is it decent?

how are they dumbed down ports if everything is feature complete? Only exceptions are VRChat and Rec Room

One is filled with gender disphoria neckbeards and the other only has 12 year olds with mics, both not worth playing

Attached: apexconstruct1-quest.webm (800x800, 2.99M)

It's pretty fun.

Attached: Digital Combat Simulator.webm (872x634, 2.93M)

The one thing almost everyone agrees on is that VR in its current state does sims very well.

Because I want a PCVR headset so I can play H-games that aren't oculus approved. The Rift S seems a bit disappointing to me but there's not much choice unless I pay Index prices or risk buying used older sets right now.

There's certainly way more choice than there was a year ago.
A shame Oculus and HTC dropped constellation/lighthouse, I can't in good faith recommend Inside-Out tracking for porn games.

what's the most lightweight vr headset?

My roommate got one and it's gimmicky trash with sub-par graphics. It was cool and really immersive at first but the novelty wears off in less than a week. I'll try it again if real games are released on it.

It's actually a prototype VR camera developed by Americans

>mobile shit
No thanks!

E:D's the one I was gonna say too. It's the non VR exclusive game I can think of that's 100% indisputably better in VR.

>it runs on a different OS entirely
And runs on an underpowered, POS, mobile processor. You forgot that part.

It looks like something which has been 3D printed, so it probably isn't a finished product.

So social. Much wow.

It's not pcvr, I still like the quest but it's not what I plan to get

Pretty sure the Quest has already been cracked open, it's just a matter of time before modders make content for it. You can already side-load custom Beat Saber tracks, for example. And you can wirelessly stream PCVR stuff.

I have one too. It works well enough but it adds a bunch of extra steps to getting into games. Quest I just put the damn goggles on. If they can get wireless PCVR streaming to the Quest as good as TPCast I'll never touch my Vive again.

dang
he seems like he's having so much fun

I could have french fries for hair?

Because VR is a failed gimmick and good reviews from journo shills won't suddenly make it worth buying or change the fact it's a bigger flop than the Wii U.
> fad
Nah, it's not a fan. Fad implies it even achieved temporary popularity or relevance, which is didn't.

Also, you're putting your money into a closed platform owned by Facebook, one of the scummiest, most Cyberpunk-esque corporations out there. HARD pass on all fronts.

Professional photoshoots are a lot of fun user especially when you're being paid, you'd know that if you were beautiful like me

>And you can wirelessly stream PCVR stuff.
I bet the compression artifacts are visible, there's significant latency and you can't even stream Oculus' own exclusives despite having an Oculus headset. How right am I?

i have a rift. How do I get passed the motion sickness? it kills me

>inside-out tracking is ba-

Attached: beatsaber-quest1.webm (800x800, 2.91M)

You get used to it. How sick do you get? Nausea? Headache? Migrane?

The recommendation is to supposedly take it in short batches and stop immediately as soon as you feel motion sickness. This will apparently make you build up resilience and might eventually make it go away entirely, though I can't personally attest to the effectiveness since I was lucky enough to not get any VR sickness.

Take it slow and easy, the harder you push yourself the more it gets ingrained as an automatic response. Stick to teleport movement or whatever doesn't make you sick and try smooth movement when you're up to it, stop immediately if you start to feel bad.
You can overcome it within weeks, like I did. Now I'm fucking playing Dark Messiah of Might and Magic in VR with zero issues.

>still no VR porn that doesn't take a ridiculous amount of effort to set up

Attached: superhot1-quest.webm (800x800, 2.9M)

I get all 3 after 1 mission in roborecall. The moment I start playing a game thats not snap movement/teleporting thats it. HHH is the best thing for me to play with but I didn't get VR for just that ya know? Superhot also doesn't hurt me but its not the selling point to me.

Ginger chews. Delicious and helps curb motion sickness.

be honest is it worth it for the porn

Attached: roborecall4-quest.webm (800x800, 2.91M)

I was also denied airborne school because I have horrible vision and horrible motion sickness. Just so you know. Its a real thing with me but never know.

Porn videos are lame and immersion-breaking because they're only 3DOF. And porn games are too complex.

i slept weird and felt tired as fuck the first week that I played a lot.

It got better and you learn to gauge yourself. I try to fake move when I don't teleport in-game. It helped at first and I don't need it as much now.

Attached: journeyofthegod1-quest.webm (800x800, 2.96M)

Attached: pavlov1-quest.webm (800x800, 2.92M)

From what I've seen it's completely separate from IRL motion sickness and nobody actually knows what causes it.
I was pissed when Talos Principle on my first day of VR had me reeling, got over it quickly though. As long as you can at least do teleport movement I'm sure you'll be fine as long as you're not a complete pussy.
Try playing cockpit sims. Also try out "armswinger" locomotion if you can. H3VR has it built in and Natural Locomotion plugs into most popular VR games.

alright. Thanks man.

is CAR a meme or not

Attached: 1530425455889.png (372x340, 225K)

>tracking is fine on slow songs
no way. Now show me 200pp+ songs.

What causes it is obvious. Why it affects some people and not others is the part in question. The cause is a mismatch between what you feel and what you see. Your body thinks you ate something poisonous that is messing with your balance/vision, so it does you the favor of making you throw up. Games with a decent amount of acceleration, particularly rotational, will be the most difficult. A cockpit or the blinder mode that most games have is helpful because it gives you a fixed point of reference. It is essentially the opposite or real car sickness where the fixed point of reference causes problems when you are actually moving. Of course, cockpit games also inherently all have a lot of acceleration, so it can potentially be worse from person to person.

I personally think it is just how well your brain can adapt to new situations. For me, as long as I know what to expect, I can handle anything. My brain is willing to accept I'm not about to die after the first few times of seemingly falling head first into the ground.

youtube.com/watch?v=WX_Ohm4aFP0

You're a moron if you think the PC special snowflake avatar creators will conform to quest users. They will continue to fap with each other in private lobbies while quest users struggle to find unique worlds to explore.

Didn't bother to waste my money on this gen VR set. Maybe next gen, if Sony manage to make very good VR set to combot with ps5

When's the update for this game is coming out?
