Just use component retard

Why did they make the Duo so fucking ugly in comparison to the PC Engine?

why did they make the TurboGraphix so fuckin ugly

Attached: pc engine.jpg (2000x800, 199K)

To appeal to Americans.

But why did they make the DUO ugly?

to appeal to japanese

I do. I have 2 fucking PVMs. Bit I can't be fucking bothered to heat up the room or connect consoles so I just emulate everything on my PC

can we hijack this into an aesthetic consoles thread?

>he has PVMs
>doesn't even connect them to PC for maximum comfy with Retroarch
reminder that Retroarch has less latency than the original consoles with the Runahead feature

What possible reason would I have for playing on a CRT?
The only real reason is for minimal input delay from the television itself, but we're going to reach a point sooner rather than later where modern screen technology will be damn-near lagless, so why not use something that actually works with all current generation and past generation (with modifications) hardware?

>retroshit
I use standalone emulators when i realized retroarch was often far behind in versions. I'm sort of interested though, post how I'd do it.

>he has PVMs
>doesn't even connect them to PC
PLEASE tell me how to do this
googling it leads me to decades old instructions about obscure video cards and shit

Just use VGA to BNC cables I reckon?

My favorite PVM

will the resolution just sort itself out?
that was something that kept coming up in those dusty forums

>tfw my smaller PVM needs work done on it
>all the actual boomers that used to work on CRTs either retired or died
>like one guy who might do it in the shit side of town

Got the 25" version of this monitor. It has manufacture date of 1989 and still works perfectly. These things must have been built like tanks.

your graphics card will need to support RGB over the D-SUB connector (I reckon it doesn't, those connectors were typically used for projectors and other pro video equipment)

What are your hobbies champ?

Nice find user I have an 2130QM (which is I believe pretty identical but the 2130 has scart RGB) and the image is superb. Also love how you need to fiddle with the little screws inside to change the settings.

Got mine right here for saturn, 32X and PC engine games

How do you connect your scart cable to that

Meh I will stick to my normal Trinitron

>$20
If I could find one I would do it. I'm going to hit up the boomer on the other side of town and hope the repair is under $100. It only needs like 2 caps replaced

Yeah this anons right, this article goes a little deeper into this.

retrorgb.com/vgatorgb.html

I'm continuing to go to thrift stores and pawn shops in hopes that I'll get lucky and catch a trinitron at one of them. So far it's only netted me an Atari 800XL PC but at least that's something.

Not when this sexy best exists.

>Got a PVM at a flea market for $10
>He didn't know if it worked but I took a gamble
>Never thought I would find one in my country so I was hyped
>Get home, try it out and it turns on but the screen doesn't
>Decided to bring it to some guy who repairs old TVs
>Says it needs a specific part or else it won't turn on
>A part that I can't get unless I miraculously find another one
It hurts man, I've checked and no one here sells them either so it's not like I can ship one from the US with all the horror stories I've read.

I have a CRT, but I don't like all of the extra wires that has to do with playing retro consoles. I emulate on my PC. I'm no speed runner, so I don't really give a damn about accuracy. Was wondering, though..what are the best CRT filters used for playing the SNES/N64/Saturn/PS1 on?

Buy it from China through eBay you catboy

Sorry, but you've been surpassed.

>Could pick up a BVM for free
>Seller says there is flickering every few seconds in the image
>Hoping/guessing it's a sync issue that's solved by a setting somewhere
>Drive across the country to pick it up
>Hook it up back home, start fucking with the settings
>TV starts crackeling and smoking
>Turn it off see what's up
>Entire copper coil around the gun looks like melted cheese
>Should be grateful it didn't explode in my face

Sadly with the high demand/prices now days if it seems to good to be true it almost always is.

Nice try

>shipping them is a nightmare of potential failures while also being expensive

what do? I'd really just like a new CRT but I doubt that's a thing that even exists.

>my first part time job in 2004 was at a recycling depot

I got my first PVM 20M2U for free and it worked fine. The university I was at at the time. Contacted the tv department, turns out they had it in storage for years

>implying I'm not playing on mine right now

>gamecube
>playing without component
Yikes

>gamecube
>not playing it from backups on a Wii or Wii U
that's a double yikes from me. The aftermarket cables for GCN are kinda neat though.

>wants to have an authentic experience
>buys the meme modern "CRT" tv
The fuck...

Backups? The game was never ported to those consoles, I could play it on the Wii but what's the point when I have a Wii U for Wii games in HD plus the gamecube looks better

Wii component cables - $30
Gamecube HDMI plug-in -$300

Can't be that hard finding one? I mean the commercial grade ones are cheap as dirt nowadays. And ye nobody is producing them anymore.

>install homebrew
>insert GCN game
>modded console rips disc image file to hard drive
>then you play it from the HDD
