>yfw the first time the blade mode finisher comes up for mistral and the music goes all big finale

I honestly believe we won't have a MGR2 until the 10 years of MGR1, or at least the announcement of MGR1, so VGA2011.
Next MG project probably is a MGS1 remake...

They probably will do a big time skip, wouldn't even surprise me if we play a 20 years old Little john, tasked to hunt his father. mirroring solid and big boss or raiden and solidus.

WASH AWAY THE ANGER

Fuck time just keeps slipping away.
Also Revengeance was such a good-ass fun VIDEO GAME. Miracle of the universe.

>RubberFruit hasn't made a video in 6 years

If you talk about MGS1, no, but there's still plenty of talented people who stayed, with a good chunk of the old kojipro.
as for a MGR2, Kojima did absolutely jackshit for MGR1 so nothing would change. guy wasn't even the producer.

What, did he not even do anything for the script?

THE GOOD OLD DAYS AFTER 9/11!

No, story was done by Etsu temari, who seem to still be at Konami since he didn't followed kojima.
Kojima did a trailer for rising, and that's it. he wasn't the writer, he wasn't the producer.

The shitty first draft maybe.

>kojimbo
Kojima didn't have anything to do with MGR to begin with, and even outright stated that it's an alternate take on Metal Gear:
>So… it’s a little bit different from the story that I had in mind for what would happen after [Guns of the Patriots]. It’s kind of Platinum Games’ interpretation of the story and their interpretation of the Metal Gear world. So in that sense, I guess you could say it’s sort of a parallel story at the same time – as well as a continuation – but it’s Platinum’s take on the Metal Gear universe.”
I like MGR, but not because of its connections to Metal Gear.

soap

Would could top Armstrong as a boss for a MGR2?
Beside Raiden who is 100% going to go full madman or die at the end, maybe both..

The boss was meh but this was a nice touch...still a better boss than anything boss in V.

Attached: 20181026001034_1.jpg (1920x1080, 371K)

Would have liked to see the original version.

>alternate take on Metal gear
Well, Konami said it's canon now...for the better.
Well, he did nothing important in the game developement, he wasn't the writer or even the producer. MGR literally was more MG than V with 6 hours of codecs and all.

>my sword is a tool a justice
>but this isn't my sword

Attached: 1535321157729.jpg (350x355, 51K)

BUT WHO'S TO JUDGE

Well, all the staff who worked on it ( and some other big ones) are still at Konami...

If Kojima back then had sended some big guys to help them beside letting the first fox engine project to new members or less important ones, it probably would have happen. now it could technically happen. but i don't think it will. at least we had the kino that is MGRR, and we probably have a sequel before 2023.

IM NOT TALKING ABOUT MONEY JACK.

THE RIGHT FROM WRONG

STANDING ACROSS
THIS BARREN WASTED LAAAAAAAAAND

Konami actually says Rising is canon and considers it to be a very important game, to the point where Raiden was even in bomberman R with Solid and Naked snake, the MGR version of Raiden.
Then again, the MG producer was the MGR producer, so he may have a bias, his twitter icon even is MGR raiden...but at least we have a lot more chances for a sequel now.

Attached: chara_raiden.png (218x216, 17K)

He didn't. Once Metal Gear Solid: Rising changed hands and became Metal Gear Rising he had nothing to do with it. He might have retained a producer credit (I don't remember), but in any case he had nothing to do with creatively.
"Canon" is meaningless. The story ended with MGS4 anyway, which is why MGR can get away with what it does.

I considers MGR canon, because it makes Raiden a better character and the game felt more like the MG universe than V.
the story of solid snake ended in MGS4, but it's not the end of the universe, thinking the world was going to be an happy utopia after 4 is dumb, even Raiden says it in the codec.

Raiden's character development in this is actual kino. Best story of any brawler.

I still think they should have add BetaSam as a bonus skin in jetstream sam DLC.
Same with the bladewolf DLC with a "Maverick wolf" skin.

Attached: Dz7x2jyVAAAyG_P.jpg (1200x675, 126K)

>because it makes Raiden a better character
It really doesn't, but okay. It worked well enough for a game about hacking shit up.
>the game felt more like the MG universe than V.
The codec was a nice touch, I'll concede that.
>but it's not the end of the universe
No, but it should have been.

Name a shittier MG antagonist

MGR1 was announced at the VGA
We may have an announced at this Games Awards to mirror that, or Gamescom.

MGR2 is forced to happen one day anyway : with the ending of MGRR and the fact that it's a very popular game with the fans. releasing a MGR2 would be an easy move of Konami to gain some fans back. and they seem to are trying to do that.

Survive strangely also had plenty of MGRR weapons, it's a little curious that the only weapons not from V and from Survive are from Rising...

He's probably directing Babylon's Fall.

I was wrong...you're not greedy

I think it would have said in the initial trailer if it was the case.
and he still tweet a lot about Metal Gear, he even played Survive.
the MG twitter also did a little thing for this year Rising anniversary, they didn't do anything beside for the 2 years....in fact it's the first time they talked about Rising in years.

Also, Platinum said they are working on MULTIPLE GAMES not announced yet.

Platinum kino of course, ars longa vita brevis

i do respect that you think sam's theme is the best one, though. that is a pretty based opinion.

desu i'd rather have a game that takes longer and is better because of it than a game that is out sooner and is worse because of it

all of that shit looks gay

Well...I wouldn't mind a MGR2 in 2023 if we have just a trailer for this year, or even a teaser...

>i do respect that you think sam's theme is the best one, though. that is a pretty based opinion.
But of course, only a mental midget would say otherwise.

He's not the protag but the boss, we play as his son, final fight mirror Raiden vs Solidus fight from MGS2.

I truly hope so

I'VE EVEN FORGOTTEN MY NAAAAME

I don't know how you could top the winds of destruction in a MGR2. i still think they are the most memorable group of the MG serie.

How was this game so perfect at creating hype for the player? Even most platinum games fail to exhibit so many "FUCK YEAH" moments

Attached: EXERT STRESS WHEN I EXPORT BEATS.jpg (649x546, 58K)

Brilliant, just give Raiden some facial hair and the homage is complete, assuming he can still grow some

I mean, there's some cyborg wigs, there's probably some cyborgs beards or something.
It probably won't happen for a MGR2, but even then , Raiden probably is going to go evil, or die.

They're, ironically, memes.

Attached: 1526121434525.gif (280x154, 2.96M)

Immediate delivery on badassery, you kill a goddamn super RAY with your bare hands in the first 5 minutes.
after killing nearly a hundred of them in Sons of Liberty it was so satisfying seeing Raiden take one down like an old poster

Played a shitload of the game on PS3 back then, just bought it on PC.
Any cheats to unlock all the weapons, cyborg bodies, upgrades and techniques?

Attached: 1450768584991.jpg (336x506, 26K)

the dynamic soundtrack helped a lot, if anything
and they fully embraced the corny and over the top nature of the game too
>slice a giant robot to piece
>take one of the boss's blade, and fucking use it
>bosses included a fat maniac with a giant scissor, a contortionist with too many fucking arms, and a magnetic yoga dude
>nano machine, son
>BUT THIS IS NOT MY BLADE

So you bring them back? Have an army of Monsoon clones all with copies of his brain to show that memes don't die, they only spread?
His memes didn't end there

I got the reversed feeling with Survive.
In Rising and MGS4, the gekos were quite easy to fight, because Raiden is a cyborg and Snake had the raygun.
Fighting them with shitty weapons suddenly makes you realize how powerful Raiden is now compared to a normal human.

How about just playing the game, dumbass.

>slice a giant robot to piece
You forgot
>your mission control guy sounds like he's having an erection when telling you to slice it open

I admit it
I will cry like a bitch if rising 2 unironically happens and we don't get monkey paw'd

It's more metal gear than any of the games made after 4.

Has Platinum monkey paw'd us yet?

A perfect mixture of well timed music queues, direction, framing, and story beats. Seriously the music can't be understated in this game. The way the music is programmed to perfectly transition from the melodic arrangement into the vocal track by screaming RULES OF NATURE just as Raiden stops the Ray's blade is so iconic for a reason. There's a lot of these scripted sequences in the game, and that's just the most immediately recognizable one.

I can't remember him at all despite reading the wikia page lol

This is honestly the best song in the game to me. I unironically listen to it semi regularly.

>still a better boss than anything boss in V
Well V didn't even have its final boss

he returned, a ghost of himself
forced to fight another unwanted war
deep inside that brain, drugged to yearn for chaos, is a plea
a plea for someone to just kill him again, to end all this suffering

Before the tomato we got a lot of monkey paws
They were in a lot of trouble

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 134K)

I mean, if i was at the place of Boris, i would do the same
>YEAH YEAH CUT IT RIGHT OPEN!
The teenage ninja turtle game, but i doubt very much they would do that for a MGR2

>tfw I remember being on Yea Forums when "MGR vs DmC" threads were a big thing on here, at the time before both games came out

This whole decade has gone by way too fast.

THE UNENLIGHTENED MASSES

Attached: collective.png (900x675, 1002K)

Pretty much every licensed game they were contracted to do, with the exception of Transformers Devastation, was mediocre at best.

I DON'T KNOW THE SEASON OR WHAT IS THE REASON

Attached: IMG_20190113_161127.png (1145x641, 595K)

The Korra game isn't that bad. fuck you.
it was only 15 bucks.

Attached: 1560854696753.gif (301x301, 360K)

Fuck, I loved how edgy Raiden was in this. You don't often get to I habit a protagonist who isn't all conflicted and shit about killing and genuinely enjoys the slaughter.

I really wish we could have gotten more stuff with that iteration of him. It's one of the most interesting character turns on the series, honestly.

It was short but so fun. Almost no fat in it to overstay it's welcome. I've grown tired of games that boast tons of content when most of it is just tedium.

I have contaminants and mutants, in my brain.

>やらないといけない仕事があるけどヤル気がでない
Kind of sad.
Someone pay him to work on MGR-tier games, please

Star Fox Zero. Though admittedly the problems with that game weren't really Platinum's fault and were mainly because of Nintendo's demands.

They went full mediocrity for a long while

Attached: world_view_01-680x383-680x383.jpg (680x383, 92K)

Just another parasite.

TD is really good though, it's far more polished than most think at first glance.

If we are lucky he's working on MGR2 already.
Transformer devastation was very short but it had a legit good gameplay, it was also directed by the MGR guy

>Transformers Devastation

Oh shit. I'd forgotten about that one. It's basically just MGR:R in Transformers.

youtube.com/watch?v=eTr-T4kCCvY

Attached: 1543571940287.png (713x642, 580K)

the game was great actually. not goty great, but i had plenty of fun with it
why did Platinum have to do so many licensed games back then anyway?

Same guy behind it, that's why.

Yeah I experienced something similar
>beat Sekiro a while back
>bored so I pop in Samurai Warriors Empires 2
>suddenly I am become Isshin Ashina
I know they're not the same franchise but it's still interesting seeing various devs' takes on the same setting; Fromsoft makes their generals seem insurmountable while Koei lets you shred them like paper

It was just contract work.

RIP Rubberfruit

Was Raiden's brain still organic? I forget.

Attached: 1558841270775.png (1145x947, 1024K)

>transforming on the fly
>fast-paced
>banging soundtrack
>HE FUCKING DRIFT TO ATTACK
wew, this look fun. only a bit repetitive if anything.

It is the only thing Organic he still has.

His brain, and before Sam cut it off that arm, were basically the only organic things left in him.

I always hated transformers but fuck
I want to play it really bad now

Yeah. He was basically just the top part of a skull on a robot body. I think some of his spine as well.

Dude, Rising was born precisely because Kojima wanted other people to make Metal Gear games without his involvement.
That was the entire point of MGS Rising.

STANDING HERE

>only a bit repetitive if anything.
Yeah but it's short so it doesn't overstay its welcome

How powerful would be a cyborg sam? the guy as an human was almost Raiden/Armstrong tier.
Kinda make Solid Snake look like shit if there was some guys like him in the world...

>mgr 2
>play as some literally who, probably one of the kids who’s brains got scooped.
>more talk about cybernetics vs nanomachines.
>mc probably near a how to D.U.M.P. Nanomachines and becomes a hive mind to fight the big bad.
>Raiden is like the solid snake of mgr2 (a legend), so he’s gone and made his own operations so he can make the world as he sees fit.
>might have to fight him.
Seems logical enough. I honestly just want a protagonist who can control other machines while fighting.

I fucking love Iaido in games
Sam using an M4 style explosive Iaido made my dick so incredibly hard

wut? Kojima tried making Rising initially and couldn't figure out what to do with the gameplay concepts he created, so he farmed it out to Platinum. It wasn't intended to be outsourced initially.

>I thought you were made of sterner stuff
I love callbacks to the 86 movie

>Kojima wanted other people to make Metal Gear games without his involvement.
I'm still mad back in 2005, when it was announced that Murata was going to be the new director of the MG serie, fans cried so much that they sended death treats and forced Kojima to return...Fucker deserve to have his game now that he's still at Konami without Kojima.
But first...Rising 2...or maybe both, this other game would be made by Konami themselves...and they have plenty of senior MG devs who stayed for that...

>play as some literally who, probably one of the kids who’s brains got scooped.
It's gonna be adult George. We both know this, people have been calling for years now that he'd be 2's MC.

>He doesn't like Collective Consciousness
I guess you're part of THE UNENLIGHTEND MASSES

Attached: 1560652522297.png (677x918, 1.04M)

No he didn't, he didn't want anything to do with MGS Rising, he just told the rest of the devs at Kojipro to do whatever they wanted and MGS Rising came out of it.
The devs didn't know what the fuck they were doing and Kojima just told them to stop and gave it to Platinum.
Kojima was starting to work in Peace Walker at that time he didn't have anything to do with MGR, not even regarding the story.

>Playing as a litteral who
Or you can just play as pic related or George.

Attached: Little_John.png (1280x720, 345K)

Didn't people hate George?

I mean...He got a cyborg arm just like Sam...it's even the same arm...
but he got also most

Did you really listen to collective consciousness? It’s redpilled as fuck.

Attached: fb7.gif (381x512, 533K)

People hated Raiden too before he suplexed a Ray in the FIRST FUCKING MINUTE OF THE GAME

lmao those comments

>Mfw I started listening to the OST while doing Cardio because it pushes me to keep going
youtube.com/watch?v=plgx--ABInA
GOTTA KEEP GOING

Attached: Let Er rip.gif (500x281, 1020K)

Yes and most hated Raiden before MGS4 so it's perfect.

Attached: tumblr_inline_p2410fCzR81v3shpr_400.gif (360x270, 1.25M)

You wouldn’t want Raiden’s son to go through the same shit he went through right? Raiden went through a lot of shit just to get that good ending.
George would have to be one cool motherfucker to be the protagonist in 2.

most of his body as a cyborg*
People also hated Rising at first, like, Survive hate tier, before playing it.

Attached: cyborg.png (519x365, 360K)

Raiden's son should be for a MGS6 soft reboot, with him not as a cyborg but normal soldier.

A big part of MGR is we've reached an age of tech when normal soldiers can't keep up anymore
>inb4 Sam
He was superhuman.

I remember
>Hurr Durr where is muh stealth
We were dumb
You are a fucking cyborg ninja with a fucking miracle blade

Konami is not making any AAA productions. Rising shit in survive is there literally because its cheap reuse nothing more.

Those comments are unusually great as well

Well, there's still some normal soldier....Getting killed by sam in one strike.
mgr make a traditional MG in the future almost impossible unless there's a big nerf in the technology But Survive proved that wrong even if the events that doomed the future are cancelled at the end of the game, it still mean that the technology continued to evolve..

Attached: 20190112005425_1.jpg (1920x1080, 311K)

>Well, there's still some normal soldier....Getting killed by sam in one strike.
They have nanomachines to remove fear and lower pain thresholds. It's just not all controlled by SoP these days.

Wanting stealth is pretty normal for fans of a stealth series, but Rising is Platinum's spinoff so no one should have ever given a shit.
MGS2 Raiden is the best Raiden and the only good Raiden, no matter how much I like MGR as a game. If a MGR2 happens it better have level design that isn't shit.

user i've checked, the models are not reused and are new, made from scratch.
and i doubt they entirely left AAA when they made a new video game studio last year in july + added some staff/did a restructure.

She's 11 so you better not do anything user unless you want to get mauled by Bladewolf.

Attached: db91a4dd866fe82e2403bbfd287c7f19.jpg (1550x3040, 325K)

In most if not all cases waiting a bit longer is definitely worth it.

I never got why Sam was so strong
>no nanomachines
>no parasites
>no cybernetics aside from the missing arm
>not even the Sasaki Kojiro idea of "he practiced a technique so many times that his ability to use it surpassed human limitations"
He was just always freakishly strong even as a teen wielding a sword he never used before.

i actually played some of the 1st missions after the Ray fight all stealthy and shit until i realized i can just do whatever i want
man was it fun

Not being AAA doesn't mean they still won't create new assets and all that. But the budget was likely absurdly small, specially when compared to the rest of the series.

Thanks this man and Kenji for this game
and let's hope for a sequel.

Because if there's one thing Japs love it's Talent vs Practice as a trope, and raw talent always comes out on top for them.

I know, i was just saying it wasn't reused.
but Konami seem to slowly return in the vidya industry, MGRR budget actually wasn't that big compared to the other games (while still bigger than ACID and survive), a rising 2 would be a safe bet, and since Korekado is now the general MG producer, it would make sense for him to do that.

Weeb autism
or he's just literally "the epitome of human's body physics". like, there's not that much improvement to humankind's body frame, even with cybernetic, and hes just what cyberneticists are trying to create

So MGR is saying that the hues are peak human ability?

>I know, i was just saying it wasn't reused.
Obviously just supposition here but it's possible that some of the assets were just from some other random project that got turned into Survive. But that's just guessing on my part. Anyways.
>but Konami seem to slowly return in the vidya industry
Are they though? That one single clap they got at E3 must've hurt.

I never noticed that she has a Philantropy patch on her leg. Cute.

YOU'RE BATSHIT INSANE

>Hideo Kojima told SPOnG that he would like to make a sequel of Metal Gear Rising. He said that if it does happen, he would like PlatinumGames to develop it. Kojima also stated that he would like the sequel to star Gray Fox and have him battle "nano machine-powered zombies." He went on to say that he offered to write the story himself, but PlatinumGames did not seem interested

Dear god, MGR2 also was MGsurvive for one moment, thankfully Plat wasn't very interested by that and more interested for a more original story.

>Kojima also stated that he would like the sequel to star Gray Fox
Kojima, there's one small problem with bringing back Gray Fox for another game

Based Platinum.

People were retarded to think this was a big announcement when even Konami themselves said it wasn't.
and while it's little in the west, the japanese players are actually very happy because they have a pc engine boner.
they can't announce a new bigger game yet because the next gen isn't totally announced, that also explain why this E3 was lackluster in general.

THERE WILL BE BLOOD

SHED

JESUS I want a new game that delivers this much RAW hype again

Attached: 1469561883177.jpg (601x469, 54K)

This game was the definition of lightning in a bottle

>kojima back when Survive was announced "a metal gear game doesn't need any zombie"
>when he was the one to propose the nanomachine zombies idea
>when he had "parasite zombies" in V
he really is an hypocrite...i like his games but i dislike the man.

Hell, Survive japanese pre order even reference the original idea with Gray fox by having his helmet wearable.

Attached: cbqzf4jwwyr21.gif (480x480, 3.71M)

Only a sequel can do that.
it WILL happen.
we just have...to wait...

Attached: 20190301172854_1.jpg (1920x1080, 228K)

>Gray Fox
fuck yeah

Attached: a51.png (600x592, 550K)

Gray fox is far too underpowered for a rising like game.
he would be better for a MGS game, and not against nanomachine zombies.

The thing is I don't know if a sequel can be done. Not making the game, I just mean delivering on that level of sheer hype a second time.

He's had a few upgrades since REX stepped on him

I mean, it be something similar...Bayo 2 was pretty kino even when compared to bayo 1....

Making gray fox alive again would be a spit in the face and completely destroy the scene when he dies and the message he told solid snake.
And Gray fox already escaped death once, it's enough.
the only gray fox that would work is him working with Big Boss still as an human, or him in the 80s with Naomi.

I miss Blade Wolf.

Attached: 1529613252882.jpg (762x548, 122K)

>the only gray fox that would work is him working with Big Boss still as an human
I don't know, he was pretty fucking whiny in PO

When MGR2 will happen, i want a coop mode when the other player is bladewolf, or at least some bladewolf missions.

He was only a teenager and brainwashed to death. when he worked with Big Boss he was 40 and acting as his own man.

he was supposed to be an antagonist? Or even a character? I just thought he was a plot device to blow your shit up for a fission mailed experience

>that one codec when he destroys all the arguments of Raiden is whining about the patriot ais, even saying "AIs don't lie."

I jsut want to play as him in some retrospective game like a MG1 or MGS1 semi-spinoff without adding any new retcons/lore

Well, there's more information about him in the codec, according to the wiki :
>Dolzaev claimed to be a member of the Chechen National Congress, but it is uncertain whether this was true or not. Similarly, Dolzaev was also rumored to have been an insurgent around the time of Chechnya's attempted declaration of independence from Russia, as well as a leader of one of the rebel factions. However, like his ethnicity, this was disputed.
As a terrorist, Dolzaev was responsible for a massacre in St. Petersburg, Russia in 2015, as well as a terror spree in Georgia in 2017, and a military coup in Abkhazia in 2018. Because of his involvement in these terrorist attacks, he was wanted by INTERPOL.

also, fun shit :
>The phrases Dolzaev uttered to Raiden in the cutscene depicting his suicide, "Yob tvoyu mat!" and "Ah ty tupoi sukin syn," translate to "Fuck your mother!" and "Ah, you stupid son of a bitch."

Unrelated but I've often wondered how Kojima, within a year of being at Konami, went from being this low-level guy to director. I get that games back then didn't cost millions so you didn't need a laundry list of achievements to get anywhere but still.

Attached: 0a1sql9xzn131.jpg (538x2413, 523K)

>without adding any new retcons/lore
this would be impossible to do, especially with MG1.
But the cowriter of MGS3 -> V is still at Konami...and there's also the Rising writer. (at least they seem to still be here, they are confirmed to not have followed kojima.)

What's with this we bull shit, i fucking loved the game since the demo, since im not a short sighted ape. I also loved Metal gear Ac!d.

Becoming a big dev was easier at the time, not a joke. even working in the game industry was far easier, some people didn't even knew how to properly code when engaged.
Kojima may have sucked the dick of Konami president at one point.

When the lyrics kick in while Sundowner is going full ripper mode of his own is my absolute favourite part, regardless of his fucked durability

Attached: 1560546559982.png (500x666, 463K)

HERE I STAND BENEATH THE WARM AND SOOTHING RAIN

programming certainly seemed easier back then, particularly if you were making an Amiga game in Amos Basic

Rising dislike ratio in the first trailer at the time literally was 50/50% in term fo like/dislike, with a lot of people saying " THIS ISN'T METAL GEAR IT'S SHIT". "NO KOJIMA NO BUY"
Kinda like Survive, but people bought Rising anyway thanks to Platinum and so prooved the fan it was good. ACID also wasn't very popular and got very poor sales, especially ACID 2 who sold worse than even Survive.

Programming isn't very hard as an indie, but working in corporations now is very different, you have to do it "in the corporation way" unless you are big enough, but becoming a director of a game when young (or even old) is impossible.

Good times. I just find it weird since he, at least going by Wiki, didn't even know coding, can't even tell if he actually took any sort of college course. Even Tim Schaffer started out as a coder and moved to more writing and directing stuff. Kojima just kinda shows up and suddenly becomes the director.

>Iwata literally rewrote pokemon gold and freed up so much space that they added in Kanto for shit and giggle
surely back then competent coders were a rare sight. since when game deving became mainstream anyway? ~2005-2010?

Dick sucking propably happened, maybe he was related to someone.

Glad Im not the only one

I will literally buy anything that Saito directs from now on after Revengeance and Devastation. Whether it's Rising 2, or if Babylon's Fall is his project, or if Platinum put him in charge of Bayo 3, it's a Day 1 Buy.

Attached: 1556424364591.gif (450x300, 1.54M)

I don't know, but what most devs don't realize now is that they don't have to copy other devs, they have to make a game with soul and passion, even if it doesn't sell very well at first, a game made to gave pleasure to the fans. that's how a lot of big franchise started.
if i want to make a game, i would try to do that. (i still want to, but have almost no time...and i would like to find good shit to how to code.)

>tfw MGR director is working on something unknown
Kenji Saito? He's working on Astral Chain with Taura, isn't he?

I fucking love this game.

Nope. if not he would have been referenced in the trailer. Astral chain is Taura + Kamiya
I honestly think Bayo 3 will be made by Kamiya, Saito was a software engineer in bayo1, but i don't think he would do a bayo 3.

The usual point people like to point to is 2007. That's when the sort of digital and real life started to blend into one. But Xbox/PS2 becoming behemoths in sales also helped. I think it went to shit with the PS3 and Xbox 360 though.
At that point it was no longer about experimenting and seeing what comes out. It was about following the corporate overlords, design by committee, etc.

I first looked at the pic before reading the post and I thought I was looking at a half-assed attempt at cosplaying the MGR characters in another game

>Has Platinum monkey paw'd us yet?
>Starfox Zero
>TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan
>Legend of Korra
Scalebound
The Transfomers game was mediocre but had it's moments and apparently Granblue Fantasy: Relink was so missmanaged/badly handled by Platinum, that they got kicked out of development.

Not really monkeys paw'd but Anarchy Reigns is/was fun but not really as good as their other games, not that it really had a chance to shine since it was released stillborn thanks to the online community dying within a month or two. Bayonetta 3 is looking more and more as a monkeys paw thanks to being MIA since late 2017. And The Wounderful 101 was released on a console with a terrible gimmick that died like a year or so after release so it really never got the chance it deserved either.

He has no large role in Astral Chain. It's Taura's directorial debut (probably as a promotion due to his game design role on Automata), and Kamiya supervises every project Platinum has going. Saito is either behind Babylon, was shifted onto Bayo 3 at some point around the time Hashimoto left (or perhaps from the start and that's why Hashimoto left), or is in charge of one of their original IPs yet to be revealed.

Maybe, although it does seem like he just kinda ventured on his own. Could just be him embezzling the story, I guess.

Nah user, those outfits are made by the MGR guy.
He also did some weapons. but only the epic quality ones (like the gears), so some end game contents.

Attached: sqfsF4s.jpg (1920x1080, 218K)

there's plenty of games not announced according to plat, and only one of them is an original ip.
so a MGR2 is not out of the question. (even if we probably will have a MGS1 remake first...)

>Nah user, those outfits are made by the MGR guy.
I know, that's why I specified "before reading the post"

SF0 was much more on Miyamoto's end; he first wanted a gyro-controlled space ship game, THEN decided to put Star Fox on it, and then Nintendo contracted Platinum to do assets/animations specifically. Korra & TMNT were budget games with inexperienced directors IIRC, won't excuse them but they had little chance to be great, and Scalebound had just as much fault on the MS side at least. Re:Link's details are really vague but them being vague does imply Cygames had an issue with the work.

That said, Transformers was fantastic. I like it better than either Bayo or Revengeance; W101 is still my favorite of theirs because it's my favorite game, but Devastation's combat design, visual design, and sound/voice/music are phenomenal for a game that clearly also had a limited budget. That game, even more than Revengeance, sold me on Saito as a director.

The Sam DLC is literally the prequel.

liquid snake

>oh shit im ded after you spend 40 minutes straight shooting 50 cal at my naked body

I honestly rate MGR at the same as MGS2 and 3, so the best MG games.
For a spin off to be so good is almost a crime.
and that's why it need a sequel...

>That said, Transformers was fantastic. I like it better than either Bayo or Revengeance
How can you think that though? They just copied most of the stuff from Bayo 1/2, added a Transormers skin and a leveling system and called it a day. They literally even used the same code and shaders for ''not'' witchtime for fuck sake. I'm not saying that the game is bad mind you and I agree that it is better than it has any right to be considering its budget, but most of the stuff they changed or added did nothing to really improve on Bayo's ''original'' concepts.
The RPG aspects actually detracted from it somewhat aswell, since it took one of the worst things about DMC/Bayo games and turned it up too 11.

What is your reaction if the next metal gear is directly linked to Rising events and is after Rising, but it isn't a rising game?

How could it possibly work gameplaywise with all the cyborgs? if it's a stealth game then it would be hardcore with you getting one shot because they are cyborgs.
and if it's not a stealth game, what could it be?

Attached: msf guy.png (229x305, 128K)

I mean actual prequel.

Attached: 1558734777316.gif (381x512, 536K)

So with Sam as an human without exosuit and killing mobsters and criminals around the world? it would neither be a MGS and a MGR. hell it woudn't even be a metal gear at this point. would still be cool thought.

but i don't think Sam is popular enough for that. if a game is made about another character in the serie, it would be either Gray fox (as before becoming a cyborg or just after, so not MGR but more like MGS) or Liquid Snake. (call it Metal gear liquid, in the middle east, and with shit with vehicules since it was Liquid speciality.)

Rimworld-like
>started with a bunch of cyborgs
>tactical espionage and combat
>abduct people to brainwash and fit more prosthetic on

>did nothing to really improve on Bayo's ''original'' concepts.
I found that it did evolve and change Bayonetta's mechanics in a meaningful way. Not as innovative as W101 was, sure, but better than Bayo's own sequel did.

While TFD uses Bayo's basis for defensive mechanics it handles them differently, and its combat flow differs a lot. In Bayonetta you go with the flow of enemy patterns to Offset your way to Wicked Weaves, the lynchpin of your offense (high damage, best ranged option short of Kilgore, focus of combo point calculation). TFD has Offset, but the Vehicle Attacks that come at the end of strings serve a very different purpose; they aren't as huge of a focus as WWs are, but are instead links between strings, because the combat focuses much more on building and keeping momentum than Bayo's variable pace. The TPS-level ranged options give you way more and varied options for long-range DPS, whereas in Bayo guns were just filler and in DMC they're juggling tools. Overdrive also plays a large factor, since it encourages you to stay on enemies in whatever way you can to build it up and keep it up, since its effect is decreasing attack startup and allowing more attacks to prompt VAs. There's also Counter Attacks, which allow you to basically give up your Focus to charge a strong attack or get a slow-mo strafe with your gun. Even when you're on the defensive you're often in Vehicle Mode, building up to Top Speed which gives you Rush Attacks.

I also really like the RPG elements, as combined with Challenge Mode they give the game near-infinite replay value, tackling unique combat encounters with as many builds as you can put together between the 5 different characters who vary in stats, abilities, and weapon usability, each distinct and a ton of fun to learn and master in their own way, especially Wheeljack's focus on guns and Grimlock being a grappler like Nero. I wish you could burn credits on upgrading a weapon's rank though, SS drops are too rare.

>Bought it back then on Steam

What is wrong with me?

user you have a mental disorder.

you missed out on so many memes

I like how they made a full model and render of this guy because he was supposed to appear in person, in a full 3D cinematic that was going to happen in a fully built version of that hangar you break into, and they ended up scrapping all of it.

If a sequel ever gets made, maybe they can actually put an iota of effort with alternate weapons.

I know the game was made in record time and it's awesome how solid it is despite that but the cracks start to show when you try to experiment with what little tools you have.

Well, if you are lucky you may have a remake announcement this year, or something else for gamescom/GA. I doubt MG is listed for Konami big franchise for the future for nothing.
PO had a similar problem, with a lot of cutscenes showed in engine in the trailers, but only present in comic in the game.
I also head that PO was at first going to be a PS2 game, but it was scrapped. (i'm not sure of this one.)

Think you're a big man...?

Yeah, it's crazy.
we know that MGS:R was in work in june and it probably stopped work during the summer.
Rising first trailer was at the VGA 2011, and the full game released in february 2013.
How the fuck did they do it? Konami and Plat must have worked on perfect symbiosis or something.

i will remember this thread forever, twas its the first time i had felt surprised thinking "that can't be right, it just came out"
damn 6 years flew by, im getting old
i like this game a whole lot

yea game is shit

I'M STILL MAD HE NEVER HAD A BOSS FIGHT AND I FOREVER WILL BE UNTIL HE SOMEHOW HAVE ONE.

BLINDED BY DARK SKIES

Well, a lot of games have female protagonist nowadays.
But Sunny would work better as a replacement for Otacon, who would still shows in some codec with Sunny.
Poor guy have an hard life since Snake is dead and that he's still broken by his past relationship..but now he is a chad and not an otaku anymore.

All they had to do with rising was map each weapon to the d-pad. And making unhanded an armstrong-exclusive moveset was retarded.

Here's a proof that we likely will have something MG related announced this year, rising or not.
img.konami.com/ir/en/ir-data/co_download/pdf/05.pdf?co_0513
that shit was updated one the 4th of June 2019.
why would they feature metal gear in the big series for the future? if they planned to have the serie dead, they would just have not showed it here.
and Contra rogue corps is confirmed to be a side projects made by a small team. so all the old kojipro members have to work on something...

I feel like if they're making a real Metal Gear game it has to be Rising 2. A side project asset flip like Survive is just more bad press and the greater public won't buy into a mainline MGS without Kojima attached. Going back to Rising and giving it to Platinum to do whatever with is the only major MG project that would give Konami good PR.

Attached: IT'S_PAYNE.jpg (1280x720, 104K)

Even if they made a perfect game, it'll still get shit on since Kojima isn't involved. You know this is true

Attached: 1465063882981.jpg (888x666, 307K)

I think a MGR2 and a remake is the best things to do for the near future. they can't make a full new game right now because it would be too risky, and another spin off (beside rising 2) is a no-no because all the spin offs beside Rising had shit sales, and i think they would prefer to not do another PR suicide like Survive did.

Sadly yes, some people will always bitch. but i'm sure they can regain some fans if they do the right things.
While Survive was far from the main games and rising, i honestly don't think it deserved the hate, and we all knows that if it was done before, it would have just been seeing as a weird spin off like the acid games.

People who liked it are now old enough to post here

>not liking MGRR

The lack of a Boss Rush mode killed this game

why not having a Cyborg The Boss, using the data of the IA pods?

Bladewolf wasn't really fun, Stealth was favored and the last boss was too easy.

M4 Swordrabine

>Bladewolf wasn't really fun, Stealth was favored and the last boss was too easy.
too easy maybe in normal, he was fucking horrible in very hard.

>How can you think that though? They just copied most of the stuff from Bayo 1/2, added a Transormers skin and a leveling system and called it a day.
Not even fucking close, user. Did you play it for more than 5 minutes?

TFD does "upgraded Bayonetta" better than Bayonetta 2 does by a country mile, and it's 50% of the way to a spiritual successor to Vanquish on top of that. It's also more hectic than anything Platinum have ever put out, the speed of it alone is absurd. Half the fucking enemies are Grace and Glory at a minimum and every single boss is a Jeanne-tier shadow clone of you with an upgraded version of your moveset.

Good taste

Attached: A_Man_of_integrity.png (640x478, 431K)

People tend to forget the outfit he's wearing ain't just a costume, that's a super-suit that basically puts him on par with cyborgs. Up until the Desperado situation, he was fighting cartels of regular humans with guns - who while still dangerous, can't exactly do much against him.

wasn't his suit just Gray fox tier?
actually why is gray fox considered as a cyborg when it's just a suit?

Could go sorta like XCOM 2 and make it a tactics game with emphasis on predatory stealth.

Are you fucking stupid

agreed, i think like you

Gray Fox has a bunch of augs alongside the suit and that let him go toe-to-toe with Metal Gear Rex. And even a Gray Fox-tier augment on a dude who's dedicated his life to culminating his ability in kendo is enough to cut swathes through regular humans and not-as-heavily-teched-out soldiers, as shown in MGS1.

It’s the boss fights
The fucking music man, the lyrics, shit.

I still remember the day it came out on Yea Forums
the Armstrong Memes were pure and enjoyable, a more civilised time.

WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH THE PRIME MINISTER

That's...kind of the whole point of his arc and a major theme of the game.

That revenge is unsatisfying and didn't change anything. Giving you le ebin boss battle against him is kind of dissonant in that sense.

That's why you fight Sally and not him, so there's at least some sort of fightable antagonist.

I WANT HIM...

The last time I enjoyed a Metal Gear game, if only I had known

Honestly I don't get it how Kojima gets all the praise
Everyone worked all their to deliver the games we got yet only Kojima gets all the praise and his ego boosted to the max.
