>Asked for his reaction to the platform holders’ plans, Inaba said: “It’s OK. And by that I mean, I’m sure that things will move faster, graphics will be better and maybe it will be easier with less wait times… that’s good for the consumer. “But it’s more of the same, quite frankly, compared to previous generations. It’s nothing that’s disruptive or super innovative, if you ask me.”
>“It’s hard to get excited about stuff that kind of already exists, but has been repurposed to a certain degree,” he said.

BASED AND REDPILLED

Platinum boss Atsushi Inaba unimpressed by PS5/Scarlett
>Platinum shitting on snoy and microdick
Based and PC+Switchpilled.
bad dev support and dumb architecture like always
>Based and Stadiapilled
fixed it for you
devs don't give a shit about gamers
That's why hardware is full of expensive shitty gimmicks.
like backlight on ps4 controller
'it needs to be exciting and new for me the dev'
Why does everyone at at Platinum Games dressed like someone I knew in high school circa 2003. They're only missing the one guy in Jnco jeans.
Hard to disagree with the overall message, I also felt like we're hitting Diminishing Returns and console architecture become more "PC-like" is kind of boring in terms of potential output.
This said, I remember Inaba that PS3 was close to failure because of Ken Kutaragi and the Cell obtuse architecture, which made the console very expensive and made the system known for being a pain in the ass to develop with. Won't make the example of Bayonetta because they didn't even want a PS3 version and the port is not made by them.
The cloud shit is dumb but he's right about next gen.
But, all of that also applies to this gen.
There's very little hardware innovation in the console space nowadays, mainly because it's all designed by the same 5 companies.
When's the last time Motorola produced an actually usable commercial chip?
How will western Snoyboys ever recover?
I don't think anyone finds the PS4 backlight exciting, not even developers who like to push for new ideas, considering they did so little with it and how useless it is.
The point he's making is more about console architecture rather than "gimmicks", so to speak. Things like PS2 Emotion Engine and the PS3 Cell.
Because they're boomers. Like look at Kamiya's leg wtf is that even?
I can understand not getting hyped for a slightly-better version of the same product, but cloud platforms seem to be a much, much worse idea than that. I don't get the developer appeal outside of "let's see them try to pirate THIS."
>That’s why for me, things like cloud platforms represent innovation
>based and redpilled
anyone who's pro-cloud gaming being the only future of gaming needs to be shot.
Shove your anti-consumer bullshit up the ass. I prefer to own my games.
Gen X boomers
ADD MORE BUTTONS TO THE GAMEPAD SO PC PORTS DON'T NEED TO BE GIMPED.
I honestly think SSDs are a huge deal, means fewer/briefer hidden loading screens.
Developers are doing this for their own careers as well. Working with cloud is exciting new territory for them that allows them to learn more things. Simple as that.
You as a consumer don’t see that side of things. It’s the same with any creator in any medium. They’re looking for career challenges.
Platinum Games hates anything Sony related. They have a personal feud between them.
They're not.
SSDs have been around since before half the users on Yea Forums were born.
I don't think he's "apologizing" for the problems cloud/stream gaming may be bringing, but rather how in comparison to what console makers are pushing for the PS5/Scarlett gen, sounds much more novel and interesting in terms of ideas.
Consider that what now console makers are trying to push for their systems are faster loading times thanks to SSDs, which have been existing since a load ass of time in the PC department, and retrocompability, something has been there until early PS3 gen and somehow dropped for both later PS3 version releases and the entirety of PS4.
No they don't. Grandblue Fantasy: Relink will be a PS4/5 exclusive. If anything they have a feud with Microsoft after they canned scalebound.
They are, especially for open worlds. The speed of the cars being fucked in GTA5 is a result of having to deal with slow hdd for exemple.
Inaba is talking shit about everyone, including Nintendo, in that article. It has nothing to do with personal bias.
It wasnt their call to make it a exclusive, they were just hired for the job
You missed the entire point here : The devs couldn't take advantage of the SSD because they didn't exist in consoles.
They should have probably been focusing on making games that do not suck ass instead though.
If they really had a feud they could reject the project altogether. That meme is dumb and Babylon Fall will be on PS4 as well.
Damn fucking owned
He's so full of shit. Zen2 can finally be a big step in AI/Physics. SSD will be a revolution for open worlds/popin issues, etc.
That doesn't make them a huge deal.
It's like saying the 8-core CPUs in the PS4/Xbone were a big deal because consoles never had 8 cores before.
What do you call this boss crew
>Zen2 can finally be a big step in AI/Physics.
It won't.
The big bottleneck with physics in games right now isn't the hardware, it's the software.
We've had literally the exact same physics systems since 2005, and no game released in the past 10 years has had more impressive physics than the original Crysis.
PS4/Xbone were already more of the same, but development friendly.
Name my band, Yea Forums
Granblue Relink isn't even developed by Platinum anymore.
atsushi inaba has always been a faggot. fuck him for the way he treated shu takumi. he's another inafune, just a soulless businessman
>Cloud platforms
Yeah, were they not so aggressively anticonsumer in any possible way and defiant of basic laws of physics, I can see how they would be very interesting from a game designer's view.
Then again, this is the opinion of somebody who's evidently more interested in "social" gimmicks rather than actual progress in core game design or visual styles, so it's something that should be taken with a big grain of salt, he's not completely wrong but he's definitely not right.
Of course it's a huge fucking deal. It will fix a lot of problem that open world have. Devs will stop being restricted in level design, etc.
It's not something like just a more powerful cpu.
The one note wonders
It's a PS3 Pro
It all depends on havok.
>I love it when people agree with my opinions. I will now push this as the only possible right opinion.
Who the fuck cares? Just play video games.
how do you think he feels about being the most attractive person in the office?
Of course they're unimpressed, they're stuck making games on fucking Nintendo Shitboxeses
>still mad about bayonetta 2
None of that is going to be the case, and an SSD isn't going to make open worlds less boring and repetitive, nor will it help much for level design.
This is the problem with gaymers, you think hardware is magic and not just a tool.
Faster load times and less stutter/hitching (which is more CPU-dependent than anything) isn't going to drastically change a game you mongoloid.
Havok has literally been almost the exact same since 2010.
Again, NOTHING comes close to the physics seen in the original Crysis, ESPECIALLY something like Havok.
Dumbfuck i already explained to you how it's going to change the experience of games.
>being mad about a shit sequel to a crappy game
>not playing DMC 5 instead, the pinnacle of the action genre
Ironic coming from the devs that are the retarded lovechild of suda and itsunos worst traits
>shitty gameplay thats casual compared to itsuno
>flashy shit that isnt as flashy as suda
I cant wait to see platinum innovate with another epib press x three times to do the cha cha epicly and kill a bunch of retarded eneimies who strafe side to side
consolefags ruining vidya for everyone else, what else is new
>pinnacle of the action genre
>crapcom dropped support of your game in a month
You're a moronic gaymer who doesn't know shit about hardware so no, you didn't.
Faster loading times and less hitching isn't going to change a game, period.
Your zoomer ass probably just started playing video games this generation.
Least DMC 5 actually plays well, unlike Gayonetta 2.
They also said the switch is a slightly upgraded tegra. Read you autistic leaf.
>still mad
DMCV is forgotten core.
How will snoyggers ever recover?
>“But it’s more of the same, quite frankly, compared to previous generations. It’s nothing that’s disruptive or super innovative, if you ask me.”
>>“It’s hard to get excited about stuff that kind of already exists, but has been repurposed to a certain degree,” he said.
>>“That’s why for me, things like cloud platforms represent innovation and something very, very different – they’re platforms that excite me and where I feel there is a lot more innovation happening.”
he just outed himself as a cancerous faggot.
And they were fired from it.
Whats shigeru miyamoto doing there
I hope they go bankrupt and lose their jobs. fuck those hacks
>things like cloud platforms represent innovation and something very, very different – they’re platforms that excite me
wow wee I'm super excited by the idea of paying my money and having my games "turned off" whenever Big Corp decides I'm spending too much time on Old Thing and need to spend money to buy New Thing
Platinum Games should be sued for stealing my idea for an action brawler in full 3d and ruining it with their shit character designs and gameplay mechanics. Fuck Anarchy Reigns, Fuck Inaba, Fuck Kamiya, Fuck Platinum Games, Fuck Ninja Theory, Fuck Bleeding Edge, Fuck all of you.
>Amoral Nintendo fanboys shit on Sony hardware while praising something that will give them lots of money
Imagine my shock
Smash Eyes
The Hack And The Slashers
What happened with him and Takumi?
I'm a PC+Switchfag but the consoles are necessary to keep actual hardware the norm and game streaming from taking over, something those retarded Japs are praising of course.
Platinum can suck my dick anyway, MGR is their only good game. I'd rather play an action game made by literally any other company since they like to sprinkle so much retarded shit in their games that gets in the way of the action.
I want you to know how disgusted I am by your implication that constant updates are required for something to be "the pinnacle" of action games. Fuck you. Games should released finished and that should be the end of it.
wont buy ps5 anyway. amerimutts can buy the sjw console.
if its the best why did crapcom abandon it?
>but the consoles are necessary to keep actual hardware the norm and game streaming from taking over
Not really.
You can never replace PC hardware because there's always going to be a need for local hardware whether for personal use or business use.
Consolefags will lie down and accept whatever, which is why streaming will eventually replace consoles.
You NEVER rely on the lowest common denominator for ANYTHING related to maintaining standards, and consoles are designed 100% for the lowest common denominator.
>devs don't give a shit about gamers
Correct, and the less they give a shit about them, the better the games they make tend to be. When a dev expresses that they aren't excited by new hardware because it's "more of the same" then you know that he dev is concerned with creating something fresh above all else and that's a good thing to be concerned with when you're a creator.
It isn't the best, but not receiving constant superfluous updates and DLC isn't abandonment, dickhead. If you need a steady flow of new content to motivate you to continue playing a game like Devil May Cry, you are not the audience for this series or genre.
What was exciting about Emotion or Cell? What did it bring to the table and what was even the purpose of implementing complex convoluted architectures instead of more straightforward simple ones?
They want innovation for the sake of innovation
You are all massive retards. MS and Sony are literally changing the landscape and even PC gamers will benefit from the raw memory and compute power available to these consoles. AI and physics based simulations will be revolutionized. Not sure why you're rallying behind a dev who, after several generations has never been able to push hardware to the limit. Fucking nu Yea Forums, I swear to God.
>abandon it
Jeezus fucking zoomers. Look at these absolute fucking retards who have been nickle and dimed by companies so often that they think companies taking out features and giving them to you later for money is "support".
Capcom and Itsuno made a compete fucking game, shipped it, revived the franchise from death and then moved on to their next projects like devs used in the golden age of gaming.
You retards are why we get shit like FFXV where they keep on selling mediocre DLC like jews in the name of support that should have been part of the base game
It’s not an mmo it’s a traditional action game you fucking retard
>things like cloud platforms represent innovation and something very, very different – they’re platforms that excite me and where I feel there is a lot more innovation happening
>Crapcumguzzlers mad as fuck
I dunno, jones gives him a run for his money.
>things like cloud platforms represent innovation and something very, very different
platinum confirmed retarded
>here comes the food analogy nyyooom open your mouth
because it's not about making the best looking meal whilst using all the ingredients, it's about making a meal that tastes good and being efficient in using your ingredients available.
>nu-gen consoles are basically pcs, no autistic™ vision™ architectures anymore
>next-gen doing the same, allowing for 100% backwards compatibility because of this
>uhh um unimpressed it's More Of The Same™ and not a complete change
>actually wants bullshit like cloud based consoles, which would (for a dev) be the same shit as well except the consumer is forced to constantly stream their games
Really explains why Platinum games is a one trick pony. Look at that forward, "innovative" thinking. Even Phil Spencer realizes that the cloud has it's limits. Kek
>even PC gamers will benefit from the raw memory and compute power available to these consoles
We've heard this shit for generations now and it has yet to be true. What's different this time?
Maybe games like Fortnite are more to your liking. It has regular updates and it’s completely free!!)))
>western idiots love their 3rd person cinematic games that are all about graphics with little to no pauses
>be the largest base so the industry caters to them for the most part
>no real innovation as the only thing that matters is graphics and load times as the games coming out don't need to innovate the gameplay since the majority of 3rd person games have similar controls.
I mean he's right. PS5/Xbone are just spec upgrades which match the power of PCs that already been on the market for years.
...
I don't know why anyone is making a big deal about SSDs honestly, doesn't mean games aren't going to run like shit thanks to developers being retarded.
Ok then what's holding platinum back from being a Michelin Star establishment then? Fucking food analogy using prick.
>hardware keeps getting better and better
>games stay the same because devs just use these boosts in power as a way to slack more
>brainlet doesn't even know he's been dancing on the palm of jews his whole life
I almost feel bad for you but then again, morons deserve to be necked anyway
Platinums meal is the same every time. A cheese burger with no lettuce or tomatoes but it has silly string and sparklers on it.
>>crapcom dropped support of your game in a month
Good, which means we'll get DD 2 faster.
...
>dev who never takes advantage of hardware says he's not impressed by hardware
Not even the PC version of Automata was patched. Now they're not even hiding the fact that they hate their customers outside of Nintendo.
Ideally a cloud platform has no backwards-compatibility problem.
And since """"the cloud"""" has """technically infinite power""" because it tapes several PCs together, devs finally don't have to deal with the restrictions that hurt development by quite a lot. Which is the opposite of having to spend time and money do downgrade your game so it runs on the Switch for example.
Being able to not care about performance optimization means faster development, which is why I can understand why a dev would be optimistic about a streaming service. Though we all know the problems with streaming services right now
>hate their customers outside of Nintendo.
Even though Shitmata saved their trash company from bankruptcy.
PS2 is an absolute monster at transparency effects due its huge 48GB/s memory bandwidth.
And given it only have to run at 512x480. (versus 1920x1080 on the PS4), you need a memory access of 410GB/s ish to do the particles the same way you do on the PS2.
>Shitmata
I like the way you think. Only the music was good.
Because we're all playing PS3/Xbox 360 fidelity multiplats right now, right? Brainlet. Consoles will always be the graphical bottleneck because they are where devs make the most money for their effort. Like it or not.
He also said he's unimpressed by the Switch for the same reasons.
>That’s why for me, things like cloud platforms represent innovation and something very, very different – they’re platforms that excite me and where I feel there is a lot more innovation happening
How much did Google pay him?
>Platinum
>Allowed to talk about technology when the tech in their own games is bottom tier in the industry.
o im laughing
How is that based, they wanted some kind of gimmick
>“That’s why for me, things like cloud platforms represent innovation and something very, very different – they’re platforms that excite me and where I feel there is a lot more innovation happening.”
>BASED AND REDPILLED
You people are just a bunch of retards.
Imagine your title being "Platinum Boss".
Fuck you, fuck your family.
Hilarious to hear this from a studio whose games are technically stuck somewhere between 2013-2015
Standardized hardware is good for devs, consumers and the industry in general. Custom hardware is what destroyed the Vita and severely damaged the PS3 which is why Japan devs were driven towards the mobile market last gen
Inaba is basically a retard unable to seize the opportunity this new unified hardware is bringing
Considering his choices this gen (Scalebound, Activision shovelware, Starfox Zero) it's not that surprising though
>The propriety card is what destroyed the Vita
ftfy
So the problem is consoles.
Get rid of them (via streaming) and it's no longer an issue.
Sounds to me like I should support Stadia like the devs are.
this
>Activision shovelware
Transformers wasn't THAT bad was it?
>via streaming
the lag is completely intolerable.
Not who you're replying to but personally I'm excited that we're going back to how it was in the 16-bit era, where when you boot up a game you're actually playing it pretty quickly and not dealing with what can be minute long loading screens. Of course it's not going to automatically make game design better, but it's going to aid it in multiple ways and devs can improve in subtle ways when game data can be loaded in super quick. I'll take something that adds improved functionality over some gimmick or graphics tech like ray tracing.
switch aka nvidia shield.
Will only be an issue for consolefags.
It was pretty good albeit recycling gameplay concepts already made in older P* games.
Correct except for the Vita since all the devs said it was easy to develop for and cheap to develop for too.
If you give them custom hardware like the PS3 they whine and don't take advantage of the hardware anyway. Bayonetta 1 is still console war material today since the games get rereleases on Nintendo consoles. Then we have devs like Itagaki who stated in an interview that the PS3 isn't even as hard to develop for as the cartridge systems of old but devs are not taking advantage of the hardware anyway, because the xbox 360 spoiled the industry. So Sony sold their chip development labs after the PS3 and we have to settle with Nvidia and AMD today. Its not a choice of developing custom hardware or standardized hardware its a choice of either the devs take advantage of custom hardware or they don't.
And Platinum is the last company who should be talking about this.
Platinum is so weird its like they're contrarians, or time travelers.
It's just an absolutely mediocre beat em up
The kind of game you picked up at random off Blockbuster to play for a weekend and completely forget about the following week
translation: the shit in Ps5 and Scarlett is the same shit we've worked with on PC in the past. It's so old that it's not exciting anymore unlike cloud gaming just cause it's actually a new thing in the industry.
Note: Just cause it's innovative it doesn't mean it's good. It's just exciting cause it provides new areas to explore.
Support whatever you want. That's not the point of this thread. Just know that getting rid of consoles (lol) will never happen. People were saying "any day now" before the PS4 even dropped. We are here now, with the next generation of dedicated gaming consoles just around the corner from two of the biggest gaming companies in the world.
When cloud gaming becomes a thing, you will literally be playing on your screen thanks to a PC.
He’s shit talking everyone because they all fucking suck
That's what I thought. I only played an hour or two at a friend and I could tell that it wasn't their best work. Calling it showelware is harsh as hell.
>Just know that getting rid of consoles (lol) will never happen.
Yea, just like getting rid of handhelds would never happen.
Tick tock user.
No product aimed at the lowest common denominator will last, because these people don't give a fuck about quality and only care about what's cheapest, so as soon as something that's cheaper to produce comes along said product WILL be replaced.
Especially if it's something designed for a singular use, like a gaming console.
Stay mad
Good luck stopping Sony and Nintendo from making games for their platforms.
>games will stream from a gaming pc to your tv
>everyone will become a pc gamer
It won't become a thing anytime soon. That's the problem. A massive chunk of the industry revenue comes from 3rd world countries where no matter how rich you are, you can't have a internet connection worth a damn. Even Phil Spencer realizes that cloud gaming is a supplement, not a replacement.
BASED
>something designed for a singular use, like a gaming console
Are you stuck in 2002
Consoles are basically media centers
How sheltered are you that you assume the whole world has the same quality of internet as you?
Good luck getting the lowest common denominator of retards to continue buying said games when they can just use their $200 phone/smart TV/fire TV to stream Fifa and CoD (the only games they care about anyways).
It's still the future and all done from a PC.
A fuck Ton probably
>“That’s why for me, things like cloud platforms represent innovation and something very, very different – they’re platforms that excite me and where I feel there is a lot more innovation happening.”
STADIA WON
Thinking that if consoles suddenly disappear all those 150+ million people will run towards $1000+ PC parts is delusional
Also consoles like the Xbox One and the PS4 are hardly for a singular use anymore. Not only they are cheap blu-ray players, but they also are Netflix machines and whatever
everyone will by the time cloud gaming becomes an actual norm
>cloud gaming excites me
>more powerful hardware = bad
>gimmicks and waggle = good
based
>It’s hard to get excited about stuff that kind of already exists, but has been repurposed to a certain degree,” he said.
Read as: They’re less-shitty but still just shittier versions of PCs
Enjoy your hardware-based DRM (exclusives) and monthly fee for multiplayer...
japs
There was a tablet craze a while back and I missed it. They were selling them for like 100 each and had tolerable hardware. I didn't buy them. They couldn't even dent the mobile, PC and console markets. Because consumers saw the tech as complimentary, not replacements.
Yeah in the year 2077
Why does Kamiya always wears shorts?
why dont they make their own console then?
if you think about it, platinum has just been serving slightly altered versions of the same combat system for the last decade
how the motorbike section in bayonetta 1 ever made it into the final game with those clunky controls is baffling
I bet you thought 3D screens and VR were the future
consoles will die
No, they'll move towards streaming, which makes use of $1000+ PCs.
A future you will never get to see, dummy
He's a manchild
>powerful hardware = good
You think devs are suddently going to improve the quality of games and make them more fun because they have a few more gigahertz and ram? What's even the point in chasing flops when its just all cinematic experiences anyway.
Not at all. Game streaming will though. All that's left is better internet.
HE'S POSTING FROM HIS OCCULUS RIFT RIGHT NOW, user!
kek
nigga prob got a Google glass hooked up to a tablet on his arm
Tablets were more expensive and less useful than a phone or laptop.
That's why they died, they were a shitty middle ground that was utterly useless since they were too big to fit in your pocket like a phone and weren't much smaller than a laptop, which made them pointless.
Doubly so now that 2-in-1s have been on the market for a good 6 or 7 years now.
Streaming however is cheaper than a console, simpler than a console, and your average retard doesn't notice the input latency anyways.
>cloud platforms excite me
The same hardware, just behind latency.
A future predicted by me and not by you. Stay down where you belong.
>they voted my city as the worst city for gamers in America
>only ugly as fuck games can be """fun"""
Fuck off Nincel
gonna need two buttons for this
That's actually pretty fair opinion to hold, respect.
>reject money
What the fuck are you dumb? Don't ever try to run a company.
>watching interactive movies is "gaming"
don't even own a Nintendo, stay mad Sonyponi
What if someone is playing Platinum's game on the cloud and one of their Bethesda tier bugs crashes the game and collapses the whole cloud farm?
I'll still side with stronger hardware. It allows devs with garbage tier code like Platinum and Bethesda more tolerance and hopefully less chance of fucking up and crashing.
>better internet
Better internet that is straight up not achievable in this current timeline
Let me know when connecting online doesn't take geographical location and ping into account
Might as well claim 'neural implants and full VR worlds are future'. We just need to integrate hardware into our brains
So he's saying what Yea Forums said since PS4/XBONE launched, from this current gen and on there will be little to no improvements innovation wise, graphics and loading times will just get better, but nothing will fundamentally change.
The big technology leaps that once distinguished one generation from the next, the ones that made new gameplay possible, the ones that allowed developer to create something that was impossible on the previous gen that are NOT mere graphic improvement, all of that won't happen anymore.
More of the same is exactly what I want from a console. I loved nintendo until the Wii and now they refuse to just make a normal fucking console.
>and collapses the whole cloud farm?
What's it like being retarded?
You should at least have an iota of knowledge of how something works before talking about it.
>there are unironic clown™ gaming cucks ITT right now
Just soak that in for a moment
i thought this way too until i got a proper PC that blows current consoles out of the water
now i genuinely crave a wacky ass gimmick console
>muh cloud is perfect you don't know what you're saying you're just dumb
Is power of the cloud a new religion? On top of having latency you might also have to queue.
And you cloud power faggots can't seem to communicate how your tech is superior right now. No hardware is infallible. Explain how the cloud is different.
Redditors jump on whatever new technology is announced for geek cred
There are retards defending their VR purchase to this day
I want to see this industry crash and see consoleniggers suffer for their "M-MUH CONVENIENCE" dicksucking.
When they're not the most retard-friendly option it's interesting watching them squirm.
Except PC gamers will be streaming as well. Game streaming is a lose/lose situation for everyone, the only ones who profit are the people trying to sell your something. You literally go from barely owning your game with digital to not even owning it at all with streaming. You're not downloading the game with streaming, you're streaming it, so PC gamers will never have the game either, you'll have to stream it unless some employee leaks the game.
In case you're this stupid, an instance of a server client crashing is no different from a console/PC crashing.
You don't know anything about the hardware works.
I also have a pc. I still hate gimmicks and portable and all that shit.
give me genesis/duke 6 face buttons and back paddles DAMN IT
>Except PC gamers will be streaming as well.
Nope, most PC gamers won't accept shitty latency, mediocre image quality, low framerates (60 or below), etc. etc.
Hence why several streaming services that are all better than what Google's offering already exist on PC and are completely ignored.
>Platinum games doesn't use advanced AI in their games
>Platinum games doesn't use intense simulations in their games
>Platinum games doesn't ever need to stream in massive world's in their games
I wonder why they wouldn't see this hardware boost as anything worth making a fuss about
It's a compression band, tardmaxx zoomer.
Holy fuck you're the retard in this exchange. That's exactly what crashing means. You're a cult cloud fag.
Oh lawd the 9th gen is only going to make Platinum PC ports even worse. I pray for PCbros.
>Nope, most PC gamers won't accept shitty latency, mediocre image quality, low framerates (60 or below), etc. etc.
Except that's what EVERYONE in the gaming industry will be getting. There is no choice, you are at the mercy of what the developers choose.
>and are completely ignored.
So name them and name how ridiculous your connection needs to be to even use them at your insane requirements. We already saw from OnLive it won't work and Google Stadia is already having problems barely any distance away from their servers in their showrooms on AC:O.
Yeah part of their appeal is that old school style where it's just an action game or an action rpg. They'll probably enjoy hitting that 60fps a bit easier but that's it.
Okay, so you're a retard who doesn't know what a cloud server farm refers to.
Let me dumb it down for you.
An INSTANCE of a cloud client is a single client running in a virtualized environment on a server.
A SERVER is the actual hardware utilized by clients, usually upwards of 4 clients on the same server (similar to what most universities do nowadays, only with vastly more system resources).
A FARM is a collection of servers usually at the same location providing aforementioned services.
The EE was insane at the time and consoles in general were pushing next-level tech. The PS2 was outdone by the GC and Xbox but it was still very impressive.
Things weren't as clear-cut as they are today, where PCs are just better at everything.
the point is not whether they use those or not, rather that the improvement in those field will not be as big as it was in the past leaps from a gen to the next.
Games will have better graphics
Games will have better resolutions
Games will look infinitely better
Games will have even more advanced AI
Games will be able to use intense simulations
Games that are open world will be able to do all of the above with minimal loading times that won't be ever seen of perceived by the player.
But all of that won't change the games, they'll be the same games we played in the last decade or so.
On the contrary, the leaps from the 4th gen to the 5th, and to the 6th and 7th, all introduced big changes that did change the game themselves, the 8th gen still did but did so in a smaller scale, the 9th gen won't do that at all, the games will be the same.
>Except that's what EVERYONE in the gaming industry will be getting.
Kek, yea, Nvidia and AMD and Intel are just going to stop making PC parts.
What's it like being retarded?
>So name them and name how ridiculous your connection needs to be to even use them at your insane requirements.
Geforce Now (50 mbps for 1080p60, 150 mbps for 4k60)
Jump (15 mbps for 1080p, max)
Vortex (30 mbps for 1080p30, 80 mbps for 1080p60)
Shadow (30 mbps)
Parsec (30 mbps for 1080p60, 80+ mbps for 4k60)
And they're all shit, yet still better than Stadia for the most part.
>cloud platforms
>innovation
>latency still a number one obstacles
>their games mostly action which requires precise input
eh, no
It's still the future and consoles will no longer exist.
SSDs arent new though user. How young are you?
Hardware LITERALLY allows for new kinds of games. Wtf. That statement that "games won't really change" speaks more on the innovative vision of platinum games than anything else. Imagine what your favorite dev could do with more power. some things are literally impossible to do because of hardware limitations. A lot of those things are gameplay mechanics.
>Platinum
and into the trash this opinion goes
Not that user, and i don't mean to defend stadia cause I think it's shit, but none of those services have countless of powerful servers in each country all over the world that already service billions of users each day at any given time, Google does.
I still think it'll be shit, but still it might be better than all of those services you mentioned.
> some things are literally impossible to do because of hardware limitations
Such as?
And once you make some example, explain how each example you made would change the games.
>but none of those services have countless of powerful servers in each country all over the world that already service billions of users each day at any given time
Geforce Now literally has all of that.
And their services are VASTLY superior to Google's.
idk dude, I feel like this gen the only thing that changed due to improved hardware was that graphics got better. open world games were already prevalent by the 360/PS3 gen.
>Nvidia and AMD and Intel are just going to stop making PC parts.
If streaming becomes the sole way to game then production would have to change, at that point they would only be selling to streaming companies. Hell, they'd be selling smaller chips for the TV set boxes to play the PSN/XBL/Nintendo games that get streamed on top of phone stuff I guess.
I don't think you understand what I'm talking about here, we're talking the shittiest of the shittiest situations. If streaming takes off and everyone in the industry moves forward to the point that there are no games you buy in stores anymore why would anyone release anything for PC when they can force you to stream? They have total control over the game meaning no piracy ever, you don't own it anymore, and you're at the mercy of their settings. It's a complete win for them. At that point everyone has to deal with the shit hand, just like how ISPs are nowadays. PC gamers would have to take the same shit that console gamers have to take from these companies because they'd be running everything. At best they'd compete by saying "We have better graphical quality than our competitor!" and make it something minor like an AA bump for more money.
>The list
Okay, and the only viable one out of all of that right now is Jump in the US which is the market that the gaming industry cares about and even then everyone here has data limits of anywhere from a couple hundred GB to a TB or two per month. This also begs the question if any of these companies have any way to stream reliably to other countries as well.
>cloud platforms
YAMERO
>Such as? And once you make some example, explain how each example you made would change the games.
Jesus, you are dumber than a pencil eraser.
>The lack of games is what destroyed the Vita
ftfy
You guys are babies. Do you have literally no money to play different action games from different companies?
Who the fuck cares about your words? Make your games and stop the exclusive shit.
>The guys who make the same game with different skin unimpressed.
Hey, when they make something that isn't a dmc/bayoneta clone maybe I will be impressed.
Do you really think those people cared about Nintendo exclusives? Heck no.
Those people are the ones buying PS4 in droves now
Except selling GPUs/CPUs to consumers has much higher margins than selling to streaming services in bulk, not to mention the absolute fuckton of OEMs who rely on selling these parts directly to consumers.
Sorry m8, but it'd never happen.
>no mention of switch
hmmmmmm we're totally not biased guys!
>Geforce Now literally has all of that.
Are you kidding, right?
Geforce Now has 20-30 datacenters around the world each with 20-30 servers, Google has 900.000 datacenters, each with 50-70 servers.
I just checked how many of each my city(a major city in europe) alone has and guess what?
Geforce Now: 1
Google: 17
yesh i ahm dumb
i still see no examples from you
you made a claim, now show the basis on which those claims are based
What's with Kamiya's leg? Is he alright?
Imagine actually supporting a gaming platform worse than cell phones.
Nintendo literally tried innovating their hardware every generation
Not gonna happen, as Sony would have to introduce two new shapes for their buttons, but they likely don't want to change something this iconic.
Again, how would they force developers to do this once streaming takes over? Again, if the industry makes gen 10 the streaming generation how would Steam force any AAA to give them games outside of indies? In this scenario you aren't getting games to use that graphics card on in the first place, I don't know how I can make it any clearer.
>Gaming companies invest in streaming.
>Consoles do a mix of physical and streaming.
>Gen after that is only streaming.
>Games aren't sold in stores anymore because the industry collectively decided it's streaming or nothing now.
>Now you are at the mercy of what the streaming company says you can play and the settings you can play them at.
There is no room for your graphics card int his equation.
Yeah but this gen had gimped to fuck architecture from the jump. A game like Dreams would have never been possible on last gen. heck, it's hardly possible this gen. The developers are the ones who determine how well hardware is used. If you think raw power doesn't matter for innovation, then why does cloud gaming?
Have you read the article retard? Of course not you didnt. Or just trolling.
>And once you make some example, explain how each example you made would change the games.
God of War had plans to include a section where hundreds of enemies would be on screen but couldn't get it into the game in the end. The no-cut camera nature of the game limits the amount of diversity in environment and it limits the speed at which the game character can traverse said environment so they have to use a lot of tricks to get it to load in properly in time. A game like god of war would only benefit from better hardware.
Dreams for PS4 could be improved vastly with ray tracing tech and a better CPU.
The things that are not currently possible are the things that can only be achieved if the entire game revolves around it. So you need to sacrifice a ton of other shit to achieve it, and at that point you have sacrificed your vision. So what is impossible, is to realise the entire vision in one go for some games.
And they failed with the WiiU. No one bought their hardware. "Innovation" isnt good (or bad) for that matter.
>massive worlds thanks to higher streaming power
>intense simulation of said world in each of their component
>advanced AI making each component act like it would in real life
the next big open world city game will have more gay prides with more gay people acting like real faggots, amazing
He's a console user so SSDs being standard in a console is new to him.
>BUT NINTENDO!
I'm not a game dev but it's getting to the point where if you can dream it, you can make it. Not sure why you're against this. If raw power doesn't drive innovation then how the hell does cloud gaming?
>Again, how would they force developers to do this once streaming takes over?
Are you retarded?
Where do you think the games are streamed from m8?
I'll give you a hint, it's not a console.
PC versions will still exist because the version being streamed IS the PC version.
>PC versions will still exist because the version being streamed IS the PC version.
Yeah, on their proprietary servers that you can't access outside of streaming. How is this not making sense? Why would they willingly sell you a game when they can make you pay for a subscription to stream it? This way you don't own it anymore, you now have to pay every month you feel like playing it again.
>Cloud platforms
>Based and redpilled
Kill yourself, OP, holy shit.
Good god
Maybe you should actually read what he said
>“The Switch, for example, is a Tegra which already existed and the other consoles are using very similar chips and graphics cards to what you see on PCs, but maybe slightly updated. None of it seems unique to that hardware anymore.”
>That’s why for me, things like cloud platforms represent innovation and something very, very different – they’re platforms that excite me and where I feel there is a lot more innovation happening
Yeah that's gonna be a yikes and cringe for me
>Yeah, on their proprietary servers that you can't access outside of streaming.
Are you retarded?
The developers don't own the streaming platform, they don't gain anything by not just putting their game everywhere unless Google pays them.
It's much more profitable to sell the game on digital platforms AND stream than it is to just stream, especially since PC gamers largely won't put up with streaming and just won't buy the game.
FUCK TOUCHPADS AND FUCK TOUCHSCREENS
Japanese phil fish looks like the kind of guy that has a short but really thick dick. Tasty.
>dreams
that'd be a nice improvement, but still only a graphical one, and yeah, dreams' gameplay revolves round its graphics, but most games don't, not in that way.
>god of war
and? more enemies on screen, even if it were to be millions at once, is not a gameplay change.
KH3 had a lot more enemies on screemn than KH 2 had, but it still felt like the same gameplay.
Game changing innovattions are the leap from 2D to 3D, the increase in simulation accuracy for complicated systems like driving simulation(play GT1 on PS1 and the latest GT and see how it feels completely different), higher poly count with smaller loading times allowing for seamless open worlds that are full of life.
But we already have all that, and sure, they're not as magnificent and efficient as they could and probably be in the next gen, but they're already here, it's not something NEW that it wasnt possible at all in the current gen.
On PS2 you couldnt make an open world full of elements at all, on PS3 and 4 you can.
On PS2 you couldnt have big levels seamlessly connected with no visible loading times, on PS4 you can.
Now name something that is NOT possible at all on PS4 that will be entirely possible and NEW on PS5.
And again, doing something we can do already is not an innovation just cause we can make it better.
Just read my reply up here
We're already at a point where if you can dream it you can make it.
Being able to make it on a bigger scale doesnt mean you couldnt make it before, and the dream is still the same, just bigger.
Innovation is new dreams, not old ones, but bigger.
i've never seen anyone wear these except furries and cringe ravers that cry outside the night clubs from too much acid and meth.
>It's much more profitable to sell the game on digital platforms AND stream than it is to just stream
Except for the fact that you have to keep paying a recurring fee if you want to play it again and that adds up more than buying one or two games a year when it comes to the general public. Streaming also opens up the floodgates to way more people who don't even need to own a console meaning even more money than just selling one single game. Owning the game means not being forced to pay that fee anymore and having way more freedom with what you can do. It also means allowing people to modify/deconstruct your game and also allows people to pirate your game. They kill multiple birds with one stone.
Yes, outside of exclusives to streaming services like Stadia, Microsoft, and Sony (Maybe Nintendo too) games would be everywhere on every subscription service, but there would be no reason for the industry to release a digital copy to PC storefronts, they can just force you into their ecosystems through a dearth of games.
>if you want to play it again
The vast majority of people are only going to play a game once.
Single player games with no replay value, no DLC, and no MP component, yeah.
But that's not what most people play nowadays.
Even so, they're still going to be stuck subscribed to a service to play various games, or even look at older games, and if they ever get nostalgic for a game they need to resub to play it again. The point is that they'll be stuck in your ecosystem with no way to get it from another mean and the streaming service has complete and total control over what you can do with that game. Games like Minecraft, Fortnite, and so on would all be moved to this service as well, and you'd potentially be stuck paying for Microsoft's subscription for Minecraft and Epic's for Fortnite.
He's not supporting sòytch or pc retard. He's supporting shit like Stadia.
>all the manchildren in the thread who think that developers care about console wars
Jesus christ.
hey mate i made a new pc 1 month ago and with a ssd for the first time.
Games load so much faster, you computer boots so much faster. SSDs are really nice. I mean its definetely worth getting.
>there's nothing new under the sun
Why did you type all that out just to sound like an absolute brainlet? Ok, how will cloud gaming be different then?
>But it’s more of the same, quite frankly, compared to previous generations.
Not a bad thing if it mean easier transition for the devs. Remember ps3, it was a fucking shitshow.
>and yeah, dreams' gameplay revolves round its graphics
No it doesn't. You either don't know how Dreams graphics work or you don't know how the gameplay in Dreams works.
>and? more enemies on screen, even if it were to be millions at once, is not a gameplay change.
It absolutely is a huge gameplay change. Who is to say you wouldn't get to control the World Serpent (Many theories are suggesting that Kratos gets turned into the world serpent) and in that case the difference between 50 enemies and 500 enemies become apparent.
>it's not something NEW that it wasnt possible at all in the current gen.
Why are you changing the goalpost? You have always been able to make a tech demo of a single element as say "its possible now!" but we both know that is a shallow interpretation of what is possible and what is not.
>Now name something that is NOT possible at all on PS4 that will be entirely possible and NEW on PS5.
I just mentioned them. But you handwave it away as if it isn't a valid difference. And those things you said weren't possible on PS2, were very much possible on PS2. It was also possible to make 3D games before the N64 gen. You just have very arbitrary definitions of what is considered "possible" and what isn't.
>It was also possible to make 3D games before the N64 gen
And they were either:
>completely flat, no verticality to to them
>ran at unacceptable framerates
>required extremely expensive arcade hardware
He had me up to "cloud platforms", fuck that pay to stream rented games bullshit, though it is not surprising a game company owner is lukewarm about something he calls "good for the consumer", yet excited by something that will make his company a lot more money.
I'd also be disappointed if the two biggest consoles decided to just become inferior PCs.
What the fuck is with the gaming industry now? We got the Switch trying to be a handheld and console and then Xbox and Playstation treading the line separating consoles and PCs.
Yes.
And now we have games that have slow locomotion, low complexity in AI and physical objects which requires the consumer to have extremely high-end PC hardware to the point that they can't have a responsible business plan due to low installed-base of said hardware.
Platinum has never pushed their games in this way so it makes sense he wouldn't see anything worthwhile. Nier: Automata wouldn't have been possible without the evolution in the hardware we have today so I find it kind of funny they would make such a statement. Nier is horribly optimized and has very low-quality technology in general. Without the hardware we have today, Nier would have been unplayable levels of bad.
