Good to go
UNIST Thread
Pass is vee
Mic is up and working and it's almost too good with how it captures the bumps and clicks around me and my computer. Should be no problem commentating, now we just need to decide on who can't be on the same team with who and whose going to stream it
Darn, just short of first victory of the night. Fun times haha.
You two must have been busy earlier today to show up with a fancy new square
Oh nevermind, there's the three settings for the mic to pick up sound. Guess we're good to go on that front.
Would Enkidu's 4C be considered something like Zangief's Green Hand?
Oh right. Seth can air backdash.
I really need to stop waking up to 5C.
I'll never forgive you for this Gordeau. Never.
Aside from dissipating projectiles? It won't move you forward, it actually pulls your hurtbox back a little
Ah and here I thought I found a solution in using FF to roll through those slashes.
Guess it'll take some practicing before I become efficient enough to do regularly hah.
Ah shit, really?
Heh, I get to skip the line!
I guess it's gonna be one of those nights
Well that's unfortunate (unless it's intentional to position yourself away from the opponent of course).
Congrats!
Turns out skipping the line isn't worth it.
It's decent for catch people trying to mash out but you'll need to know what you're up against since it's pretty slow
sorry pc bros im gonna skip tonight, way too tired and need to get back on the sleep for tonight, ill be here tomorrow though
Makes sense. Sounds very dependent on match-up and the situation (like being countered with ex on wakeup like what happened just now, I imagine 4C wouldn't be able to handle a beam like that haha).
Seems barren on PC front tonight unless they're like fish waiting in water for someone to open up the lobby first. Rest easy!
Sometimes I forget I don't have a parry, other times I forget I now have a meterless reversal instead
>that lag when the screen flashed white
nice hahaha
I always get booted when my turn's coming around. Damn my unstable internet.
I was gonna make a pc lobby tonight but I'm gonna skip too for the same reason. Vatista requires more thinking than I'm willing to attempt right now.
See ya'll tommorow.
Enkidu's counter doesn't work with projectiles coming from behind right?
Just thought I'd ask since Seth can do some off-screen trickery with his orbs.
You can.
Hey boys glad to see a UNIST thread up. A buddy and I picked up the game a couple days ago so things are still fresh for us. So far I like Gordeau, Akastuki and Orie mostly leaning towards Gordeau. Any general tips before I start developing bad habits?
Just don't grim reaper without safety.
And go do tutorial mode/mission mode
Sounds like fun. I'll have to give it a try in either one of these matches or in training mode just to see how it plays out.
I probably won't play tonight since Bloodstained is really fun, I don't know how the fuck people do 236's on a pad, especially 236's 3 times in a row.
I can stream it if you want. My internet has been streaming shit no problem for the last month or two.
As a general heads up these threads regularly pop up around 9:30PM PST and usually run til around 1:00AM PST and sometimes later Sunday-Thursday so feel free to drop in during those times.
I can even set up a 2nd lobby if you'd like to get your feet wet online and not get completely bodied (although that's the authentic experience in most anime fighting games online I figure). Hope you have fun finding your bearings.
No clue if raidou can make himself available so we'll probably default to you. Might as well test out the connection and mic volumes later on.
Reds going to need to drop on by sooner or later too since he's commentating with me
Did I counter the mini-me in that instance just now? Thought I would've warped you to the corner with that counter Sei. Dang, hahaha.
Fine with me. You know my shit is 720 60 frames so it shouldn't be a problem.
Fuuuuck I was so close ;_;
That mounting comeback from such low life! Gotta give props to Lamp for being able to play defense with such a situation there.
Sei, please pick Merkava again if we face each other. I want to see if I can punish the grabby arm if I manage to shield it.
I got undernight in birth vanilla for ps3, am I missing anything if I play it instead of the newer ones? I mean story mode wise, that's what is talked mostly right? I'm not much into playing competitively.
Ggs lads. I got stuff to do tomorrow so gonna leave early tonight.
You're missing four characters, mission/tutorial mode, and aforementioned story
I believe ST adds in a VN story mode if that's what you're looking for.
You might be able to save money by just looking it up online via something like youtube if you're not looking to play the game.
In these threads, it's mostly gameplay discussion.
Will do. Grimmu Reapahhhh seems super unsafe to just toss out despite the huge hitbox.
Thanks for the heads up, I'll let him know what's going on too. I wouldn't ask you to do all that just for me I wouldn't mind taking a few beatings to learn things. I'll start with the training/missions and go from there.
O-oh. ggs anyway.
GGs! Have a good night and thanks for the fun fights!
Well shit, looks like that's the note to end my life on.
I've read the wiki page on Seth's teleports a couple times but I still can't wrap my head around how that translates to what he's actually doing in matches.
So does every teleport move him forward into the air, and a crossup just happens if you're close enough to him?
He can only do one of the followup options right; they don't chain together or anything?
GGs
It's no problem for me. I like hosting for new players. Fighting new faces is always a fun experience and plus I believe I owe it to the others here for helping me go from a beginner masher to somewhat-decent at the game (I've still got alot to learn too) to help others out as well.
Starting in missions/training sounds good though. Have fun!
What do you mean? If the original doesn't have any VN story mode then how's the story happen?
Also I like being the one in control of my VNs and interacting, reading at my own pace. Also I do enjoy the gameplay, like in blazblue, even if casually. Being good and enjoying using a character just not getting to comp. levels.
There's three start-up versions. A moves on the ground, B goes in a 45 degree angle, C goes up higher. The follow-ups can only take place if the opponent is caught in the initial run's range.
Then there's A follow-up, which moves him along the ground and acts as a parry.
Then there's B follow-up that leaves him airborne
Then there's C version which stuns opponents. Each follow-up can be held back to determine where Seth ends up, either behind his opponent or in front of.
You can chain them together but there's no reason to since it does shit damage and 214A prorates a lot
>and plus I believe I owe it to the others here for helping me go from a beginner masher to somewhat-decent at the game (I've still got alot to learn too) to help others out as well.
For what it's worth, I'd say just bashing your head against the big boys is better than getting eased in because that way you'll be forced to adapt more quickly to be able to hold your ground.
>What do you mean? If the original doesn't have any VN story mode then how's the story happen?
It didn't. UNIB and UNIEL only had arcade mode which only forms one hell of a confusing piece-by-yourself story that only started to make any real sense once UNIST came along with the full prologue of events.
These threads do talk about story and other shit, we just ran out of said story mode stuff to talk about since all that happened when the game released n japan.
When those point-blank stalemates happen, is there any true optimal option for the defender or is it just mindgames at that point?
I feel like 1A~D/2AD is at least better than a regular throw tech so you don't get GRD broken, but other than that it seems like it's just about reading the opponent. Is that a safe assumption or is there something else I should do?
I suppose you're right in terms of learning defense. Getting through the growing pains is best served through beat downs. I figure they might also want to practice their BnBs as well though so they can get familiar with using it on real opponents though defense is just as important as offense (if not more so due to GRD in these game).
Also, it seems I've been summoned to play CSGO by my friends so I'll have to take off for now.
GGs lads, maybe I'll be back later tonight. We'll see!
When you hit AD but it never really means anything.
I'll probably be back later tonight as well, need to go do something. Hopefully I'll magically have bars with Atic by then. ggs for now though
GGs then
By the way, Hippie, what do you plan on doing if there's any connectivity issues during the tournament? I'm not sure if Dash is in the tourney, but I have never been able to connect to a game with him.
We power through, that or we just swap people's places. This is going to be a round robin(?), first to one 10 vs 10 team tourney so one person is going to keep playing until he loses and until they run out of people to fight.
I probably could have explain that better but that's the format.
Maybe I should just take a break this week or something. Work is piling up and not being able to get 80% of my intended inputs off feels retarded.
just quit
Don't let the game be a burden. Get your work done
Enkidudes where you at?
On PSN
Right now
Where you at?
Don't expect an actual response
Take a break, atic.
I think I know what you're going through when your mind isn't completely on the game and is focused on getting something else done.
Most of it isn't really something I do at home, just that I wake up earlier and come home later now. I've had shitty play periods before, I'll just work through it like usual and sign off a bit earlier.
Then take naps
I always feel extremely disoriented for hours on the rare occasion that I nap midday, so I don't know if that's necessarily the best solution for him.
A one to two hour nap usually wins me damn near unobstructed alertness during the early morning.
That's how I manage these lobbies mostly
Thank you for showing up early.
sometimes a guy should just guard thrust
i'd hop in and play for a few rounds, but my PS4 is unavailable right now. Guess i'll go back to playing Trials of Mana before bedtime.
Hope everyone's getting stronger.
Back and ready to play to the end of lobby 1. If anyone wants to continue after, I'll set it up.
Also, is anyone else finding weird that WC is pretty chilly for Summer weather? Just something I thought I'd bring up since it put me in the mood for a nap before the lobby today.
If this is Mag, thanks again for that Rage of Bahamut recommendation. It's a fun show and I'm looking forward to finishing it.
After that I'll probably hop onto the Granblue anime.
104 F is pretty chilly right now, should be 112 F by now.
it is, and i'm glad you're enjoying it. I haven't watched the Granblue anime so i don't know if it's good or not.
Just remember, S2 of RoB is a serious drop in writing quality. it's still possible to enjoy it, but i can't emphasize that enough. it's like how Darker than Black S2 compares to its S1.
Hey Rhythm, wanted to ask, are you from the PC lobbies?
So I'm not imagining things. Good to know, haha.
Thanks for the warning. Hopefully there's still some fun to be had in it. Here's hoping Granblue turns out alright.
So far what I've seen of Cygames anime has been at the very least some great production values and the writing has been fun from the stuff I've watched.
Was that DP after vortex intentional in order to burn the VO meter hippie? Seemed like a good idea to me.
Yeah I only ever joined a few though. Usually come home too late.
It was a sick confirm first and foremost.
But yeah, eating up VO time was behind the thought process as well
Playing even worse than usual, dropping everything now. Maybe I'm to tired to be playing.
Those empty air exchanges were pretty fun, hahaha.
Well we're almost done anyhow
>mika and nanase themes all night
why would you guys do me like this
My apologies for having Nanase theme as my preferred pick. It's the GOAT of songs in the game after all.
the fuck is wrong with mika's theme?
Is there gonna be another lobby after Hippie closes it? I wanted to get a few games in before going to sleep.
Sai will most likely get one going.
I'll set one up for ya. I'll probably run it til 3AM PST since I had to bail earlier for some CS.
Nanase's theme aside, what do you have against the best song in the game
I don't understand the whole "nanase theme bad" meme. Sure it's the least intense/"""battleworthy""" theme in the game but there's nothing actually wrong with it
atic you beat me at song select
anyway ggs amigos im out of here, my brain is fried. at the end of that last match i was mashing 3dd even when i knew i was out of vorpal
its too bouncy for 1am, or any other time of day
>its too bouncy for 1am, or any other time of day
GGs
GGs! Take care!
>White Len
Come on my dude.
>you can follow up those 2 DPs with that 2B instead of just using 1 DP for it
Neat. Guess it scales down the damage a fair bit though?
GGs everybody
623B > 623A is optimal and should be used in any corner combo if you got a non-light starter.
Light starter corner combos or assault combos that don't GRD break/CH only get one 623B
GGs! Have a good night!
Cool, thanks for the info as always!
ggs everyone
Sorry, I'll remember to change it next time
GGs! Saw earlier in the thread that you were having some issues so I hope you're able to iron them out! Rest easy!
Managed to steal a win somehow, I better leave before my brain melts.
Thanks for putting up with me. Played like crap all night.
>6 frames to razzy
fuuuuck turn that lagswitch off
Honestly why has our connection gotten so much worse this past week? Fuck US infrastructure
GGs Mike. For what it's worth, you zoned me out pretty good in that last bout.
The country should put some of that military budget towards getting better lines for out net, I agree.
No
That was a nice shield block in the air Lamp. I was totally expecting to break you up there in the end after the EX kuuga finished hahaha.
Whew, that round 1 was scary stuff Raz haha.
I've recently gotten into UNIST and Im practicing with byakuya and trying to find his main bnb but there are so many different variations that I dont know where to begin.
I dont really get his gameplan in neutral either. He is supposedly an aggressive rushdown that keeps his momentum or he dies, but his nets and long pokes make him seem strong for mid range zoning
Any ideas?
how long until unclear??
Man, these have been some tough fights. You guys aren't making this easy haha.
Based on what I've seen higher level Byakuyas do with their webs, they can employ it into combos such as setting the air web up for a throw to keep the enemy in the air to get the air portion of his combo to keep going.
I believe his slide (66B) is also pretty important in opening up opponents too.
>or he dies
nah he just fuckin takes his momentum back hes fucking busted
6 months minimum.
It's unclear.
Also, 623C (I believe the teleport through and web you move) is useful for oki setup.
Anybody still playing on PSN?
LOL
Yep. Feel free to hop on. Gonna keep it running for another hour or until everybody gets tired.
Ask again tomorrow
alright, coming
oh shit Yea Forums lobby is fucking poppin tonight
Gotta end it at 7 games, GGs. Hopefully I'll have more time tomorrow to play.
Alright, thanks. There are a lot of resources that Ive read regarding byakuya but a surprising amount of them contradict each other regarding playstyle and bnbs. I did his pre-veteran missions before finding the infinite evernote list so I just wanted some clarification so I dont learn an useless, super situational combo
Didn't expect my IW to teleport you toward the center of the pillar like that hahaha.
GGs m8. Sounds like a plan!
Its matchup dependant, but vs alot of the stronger neutral characters he wants to play patient and either slowly work his way in or make a good callout, then confirm into a combo that both puts them in the corner and ends with his 623C setplay. He's got some good stuff but his gameplan is pretty incomplete if you don't have his routes and setups down, he's built on getting a good knockdown and shredding them once he's in.
Well if you're just starting out I wouldn't worry too much about being optimal so much as being able to land some basic BnBs at first.
Definitely do come by next time or whnever you have time as we do have a few people here who play him pretty darn well.
Watch Clearlamp for JP Byakuya and Thatguy for NA Byakuya if you wanna see it in matches.
Can you find a game on the pc version?
If I bought the game, can I expect to find other noobs like myself, or is it mostly veteran players at this point?
>Clawz going random
Well this is a first, unless he secretly has some great Hyde tech haha.
From my understanding both versions should have a good chunk of players at every level still
Recently we've gotten a fair amount of PC players though today I don't believe we had a lobby.
There are mostly skilled players among both PC and PS but you'll find at least a few people who are either starting out or between beginner and intermediate.
Nope
5A>5B>2C>236B~6B~4A~A>214A~A~B Attack>J.B(whiff)>66B>236A~6A~6A>623C
This is the first one on evernote. Is this his bnb?
Im just a little confused since most fighters I've played relies on one primary bnb before branching out from there but there are no clarification regarding whether or not this is his primary bnb. I assume the other combos are similar but with different starters
Darn, was hoping to tech on the end of that round 1 but got KO'd instead haha.
Not a Byakuya player myself though that does look good and does some nice damage.
Mr. Squid (D0D) is taking us for a ride tonight it seems, hahaha.
I just like playing and I work graveyard shift so I just got off work. If yall want me to play a sub aftet a bit say the word.
Apologies to anyone who had to deal with my drunk ass tonight.
GGs I guess if you can even call it that...
No problems here haha. Feel free to play who you like. I'll probably mix in some Enkidu myself though I appreciate the experience from fighting you as always! It just means there's alot more to learn.
It's all good. GGs m8, have a good night!
How do I deal with Phonon's j.C
Good question. Got any kinda reversal options?
There's a couple ways. You can get used to its spacing and play outside its range alot, you can try to bait it out by purposefully creating situations where I'd like to use it then attacking early or air shielding it and punishing the landing recovery, you can try to pin me down and not give me a chance.
I don't mean to undersell it because its very good which is why I use it, its gonna take getting used to and experimenting versus.
That was pretty neat. I didn't know you could counter the alpha counter like that. Fun times hahaha.
Enkidu counter eating my Guard Thrust is definitely one of the more bizarre looking things I've seen in this game
Damn I was greedy that game, I've been got.
Patience was definitely a virtue needed there, haha. Welcome to the club.
Fuuhhh read me like a book there hahah.
ggs, too tired. It was nice playing you again after so long D0D
GGs. Have a good night!
GGs yall, connection died so I'm gonna go to bed. Nice playing you guys again!
GGs as always, thanks for hosting late once again
GGs D0D thanks for jumping on after your worktime! Always a fun time trying to find way around your playstyle.
GGs to you as well Rhythm/.Absentia (not sure how you'd like to be called). Had some fun fireball and chesto moments in those final battles there.
Thanks all who played in the early morning lobby as always. See ya all next time!
