In terms of combat yeah, but for leveling it's the 2.1-2.55 quests

You can safely skip them now if you don't mind the markers being everywhere, but most of the quests are "run around town and talk to person, fetch these, go into the field and kill a few of those", and you have very few skills to fill in the gap in your 2.5s GCD

I'm one of the opinion that ARR quests aren't that bad, after all I did them on their respective patch so did them bit by bit. But I can see them getting tedious if you're a new player right now because there are a LOT of quests between the start and the current patch

I got the free trial too, it's a really comfy game but it's so ridiculously easy. I'm level 19 and I haven't even gotten below half health yet. Also it turns out that you can roll every spec in the game on a single toon. I'm not sure how people can criticize the casualization of MMOs and then turn around and praise this game.

I love ARR but that's because I played 1.0, so it really felt like the continuation of the story. There are a lot of fetch quest, and the story does start off a bit slow. The biggest issue for players is definitely the combat at lower levels. Having only 1-4 abilities at a 2.5 second global cooldown is hard, especially for players who are used to wow and their 1.5 gcd.

The pace, of course, picks up at around 40 for some classes, 50 for others. The classes really come together at 60+. There a lot more abilities on the global cooldown but also a large handful of off global cooldowns, that makes that 2.5 second cd literally unnoticeable at level cap.

But then there's the story. It's a good fucking story. If you don't like reading, then XIV isn't for a lot of people. But it really is a good fucking game.

The pvp is dogshit though.

Is the free trial content actually six years old? I thought the game was rebooted in 2015 or something. Regardless, I don't see why the age of the content should make it easier. WoW Classic content is 15 years old and it's still much more difficult even at low levels, just getting to level 10 is a challenge as Warrior.

Friends ruin everything, I had a friend who wanted to try XIV and asked me to play with him and I regret ever saying yes. All he did was spam PotD until level 50, didn't get past the level 20ish story line, never got his job unlocked, complained every second I wasn't fluffing him in PotD and then quit a week later. Heavenward is considered the expansion where people playing the game just keep wanting to go back to play more and it gets really addicting. Mainly it's a mix of good story and characters and class design getting fleshed out. You basically become very emotionally invested in the story

In seriousness, BLU is called a "limited job" and cannot participate in normal Duty Finder content and must pair up through other means like the Party Finder.

BLU's "purpose" is to have you collect spells to use by seeing monsters/bosses use them and then defeat them for a chance to get that spell. You can't do any content above level 50 at the moment, and the only BLU-exclusive content is a mini-game called "The Masked Carnivale" where you have various specific challenges to complete using your BLU spellkit.

If my primal spell farm parties are any intention, they fill the emote spammer role quite fine.

ffxiv's biggest difference is that the game starts the second you make a character so you can expect to enjoy the game before ever hitting a raid. Also the game will throw walls at you repeatedly to force you to get gud. I'm currently retrying the samurai 54 quest for the fourth fucking time because I keep failing it. And I can't tell you how many times I wiped on titan hard mode back in the day.

Also solo combat is kind of hard to say because there are people everywhere.Levees are really the only place where it's actual solo content because people can't help you. Other than that because of the novice network it doesn't really ever feel like you're going solo and it's not uncommon for people to just team up.

personally I find summoner insanely fun once you hit heavensward. The game design mechanic of slowly building up power inside your body is awesome

None of the combat classes are any fun in the beginning since you only have a few skills. At lv30 you get to upgrade to a classic Final Fantasy job which brings new skills but they're still all very barebones until lv50, and plenty of them only become really interesting at lv60 and beyond. Although 50 was the cap back in ARR, this feeling is a consequence of Stormblood pruning old skills to make room for new stuff, and it's going to happen again in Shadowbringers, making things even more painful for new players getting into the game and old players doing level synced content from those lower level ranges.

I remember first starting out. Even though ARR is sufferable I thought it was magical. Such a sleek and stylish looking game. So much customization with the U.I. and you can’t get a better story in an MMO. Not to mention Lore and Chatacters. All while being seemlessly multiplayer and you are able to type and chat to other players while running content with real life people. It’s one of my favorite games of all time for a reason. Hopefully it only gets better

If you like it now you'll probably love it later. The game is notorious for starting out really slow (lots of fetch quests, 2.5 second GCD while you have only a couple abilities, story slow to build up) but it just keeps building and building and building on it. The story starts getting good near the end of ARR going into Heavensward. Heavensward story is absolutely fantastic, and Stormblood is pretty good too.

They lowered exp requirements by a SHITLOAD and Trusts help a lot too, yeah. You can actually hit 99 in a day if you know what you're doing.

Lots of fetch quests, the story moves pretty slowly, and due to the classes being reworked for stormblood, nearly every class feels really incomplete until 50 or often even 60, so early game combat is rough.

Plus the patches between the "end" of ARR and the beginning of HW is literally like 100 quests long, with a lot of them being pointless like "help tataru hand out tea to the other scions"

That's the rested bonus. The armory bonus is a flat bonus you get for every job with a level under your highest job. I think it's 100% from 1-60 and 50% from 61-70.

He cast a rescue spell on them that teleported them to an unknown time and place and made it so that the people of Eorzea would only see light whenever they tried to remember the heroes, which is why they're remembered as the warriors of light. MMO expansions should be 100% horizontal progression, the level cap should never go up and the ilevel should always be required to be the same as the original highest tier. Just make new equipment give unique effects that are good or bad depending on the fight but never stronger in a vacuum.

Not after 200 hours, not after 500 hours, etc. I started this game shortly after 4.0 released and the 3.0 content is what made me really fall in love with the game.
