And a screenshot listed nash as 4500 coins.
Races take about 3 minutes, but I'll add a minute buffer for load times, menus and so on so lets say each race takes 4 minutes.
If you play for an hour that's 15 races, 15 races at 300 coins a race is 4500 coins.

So it'd take an hour of play to unlock a character.
This seems like something they'd do to me desu.
For people playing a lot this wouldn't be hard to unlock all the characters but for your average person it could take a bit to unlock everyone.

This is assuming I'm right and the info I've seen isn't bullshit of course.
