Yeah basic story progression was a total chore and the enemies ramped up way harder than I did with normal playing and basic optimization, felt like the game expected me to grind enhancement capsules for a day for each story map

Grinding is part of the game if you don't want to spend money. It's how they get you.

There were some gimmick gun-blade weapons in the Renaissance/Early Modern European period. But they were more of "look at this cool shit I can make" maestros would do than they were for actual combat.

I'm having fun, it's technically the first mobile gacha I play so maybe that's got something to do with it.
I just started about 3 weeks ago. I got 4 echelons of 4-5 stars and a few 3-stars here and there but Dummy Linking the five stars is getting ridiculous. I also spent about all my contracts rolling for a UMP45 dupe but after wasting all of them I figured cores was the best way to dummy link . What is the best way to get cores, I've only done the story missions up to 3-3, so idk if I'm ahead or behind at Commander Lv 30.
Should I just focus onb getting one echelon to max level or should I be leveling them all evenly?

Focus on one echelon dude. Use combat reports to get some t-dolls high enough to do Logistics missions to keep the resources coming in.

Best core farming map is 0-2, but 4-3E is a good substitute. 4-3E is kind of a placebo, but it's super fast. 0-2 has enemies with a higher 3* drop rate.

That's what I do with GBF and FGO aswell (even though fgo barely has any good official art)

Its turn based strategy, combat basically plays itself, its more about optimizing your team with formation bonuses etc

It's a gacha with very light tactics gameplay.
Each unit has different buffs, stats, you assemble a team and then you put them against the computer and watch the dice roll to see which side kills the other. Not much in terms of actual combat gameplay, the player interaction comes entirely from assembling the team.

You can also manually use skills, but for the most part you can auto pilot those.

Mostly these but note that combat is significantly more engaging in later chapter bosses and events.

sure, there's other shit you can use to buy with money but you can't make progress if you don't actually play the game, neither can you rise to leaderboards with just spending money, you need to work for everything

For a mobile game, it has one of the best business models out there, everything is equally achievable to a free player as it would be for a player who pays money for gems, and the only thing people use money for is skins, and those can be achieved through gameplay as well
