A ton better.

Gameplay-wise, TPP is far better.

No, it’s no where near as good gameplay wise. It’s very basic, I even enjoyed portable ops more

>Better writing
>Incredible soundtrack with both the main theme and the main sung theme being both better than most of the series
>Best cast since MGS3
>Insanely entertaining cassete tapes
>Motherbase felt actually comfy and fun despite being just an excel spreadsheet thanks to good writing and characterization through the tapess
>Most unique content out of any game in the entire series
>Chapter 4 is /kino/ as fuck

Peace Walker will always be the real MGS5 for me. TPP has great gameplay, butt feels like a glorified PW spin-off on every other front.

TPP has better gameplay, PW has better everything else.

It'ss insane how Motherbase felt more like an actual home in PW, where it was just a menu, than in TPP, where is a big, cold, empty and boring physical location.

story is better
secondary missions are way better, it had more variety, even had minigames a la monster hunter or poyan, TPP variety is shit
music is better and more memorable
the only thing that TPP did better was the gameplay

PW Side-Ops:
>Prisioner rescue
>Defend the base
>Pooyan
>Ghost Photography
>Dates
>Hold-Up Challenges
>Perfect Stealth Challenges
>Photo challenges
>Find the Project
>Destroy the enemy unit
>Destroy the armored Unit
>Extra harder version of the bosses
>Fucking Monster Hunting

TPP Side Ops:
>Destroy enemy Unit
>Destroy armored vehicles
>Rescue Prisioner
>Kidnap Enemy
>Find Project
>Find old MB soldiers

You forgot mine-sweeping, but yeah PW had surprisingly good and varied side content.

Yes.

TPP is the better version of PW
>b-but it has a more complete story
PW’s story is just retelling 3’s story, beat by beat

>Worse characters
>Awful writing with a silent protagonist for no reason
>Worse soundtrack
>No Side-opss variety
>No Metal Gear customization
>Only a single Mech battle
>Skullman manages to be less threatening and memorable than Hot ColdFace
>Kaz reduced to a one note character
>Ocelot reduced to a boring dry sidekick that does NOTHING the entire game

The fact that the entirety of TPP iss about the characters being mad that everything was better in PW and that you're playing the entire game as your best random soldier from PW sshould give you a hint of which game even Kojima considers the better and more important one.

And all of those shit still means nothing compared to the TPP’s way better gameplay with bigger and open level designs and more choices in gameplay. If I care more about the characters, plot, or music, I rather play 3 instead.

I feel like it was a more well thought-out and produced whole. Everything worked, the systems connected nicely, there were very little if any neglected or pointless features. The story, whether you liked it or not, moved forward at a good pace and kept you engaged. It made the absolute best out of the limited resources the PSP provided.

Attached: 1272875462237.png (480x272, 88K)

Wasn't a fan of how they kept pushing the Che Guevara angle but I guess it makes sense. The bosses were shit but there were at least bosses. The comic book style cutscenes added personality. The goofy side content was nice. The story as shitty as it was at points was at least finished.

Yes, it also has the best MGS vocal track
youtube.com/watch?v=hinFSHQ980U

>choices in gameplay
This faggy meme needs to stop. The game prioritized the most effective route of sprinting in blowing shit out and getting the fuck out, I don't care that there are 100 gimmick tools you can use to waste time, the game doesn't even allow you to you out a soldiers radio, or starve them, or make them interact with live creatures. PW has the excuse of being a fucking handheld game TPP has no fucking excuse for the lack of TECHNOLOGY

Nah, the gameplay in TPP is way more evolved. I also hated the robot bosses

You're right but also wrong
youtu.be/NOaSh1-d9gc

I'd like TPP's "choices in gameplay" angle if the fucking game was balanced around that instead of having scoring and progression systems that actively push to be as fast and non-lethal as possible.

>The Virgin Peace Walker
Not
>The Chad Portable Ops Strider

Everything Kojima touched after 3 was convoluted dogshit, from gameplay to story.

PO+ is unironically the best written MGS.

>Kaz reduced to a one note character
Yeah, because Kaz was a deep character in PW.

Yes

Just because you made the choice to go for efficiency doesn't mean that was all there was. I had great fun with all the toys in TPP

+1 for Peace Walker soundtrack being lowkey astounding, and not just the big meme tracks
youtube.com/watch?v=OSShbarC9jc

I finally got around to beating MGSV for the first time yesterday and I'm still salty about how Kojima mishandles the entire plot.

I'm gonna second this. Waiting for Kaz to become a complex character has been some dogshit. He's a Gary stu in PW that you are waiting to betray you, and then in TPP he's just an angry armless cuck who HAHA HAMBURGERS, ISN'T THAT SO RANDOM LOL HI GUYS HIDEO KOJIMA WE RIKE TO HAVE FUN HERE IN THE OFFICE!

The progression of the game is directly tied to how you perform, meaning that going for anything else directly harms you.

Imagine if BOTW locked heart pieces, armor and weapons away from you unless you used non-lethal methods to deal with enemies. That's how TPP feels to play. You're either going fast, non-lethal and fultoning everything, or you're harming your own progress.

It's terrible because in PW every mission was directly tied to, and progressed, the main plot, while in TPP 80% of the game feels like glorified PW side-ops that have nothing to do with the plot at all.

You're exaggerating, you only lose some GMP for not playing well which is almost always a tiny percentage of the money that you get for actually clearing the mission, and also GMP is easy to get in general.

Wow gimmick balloon snake is cool! Magazines are gay lol.
Wow robot arm is cool and not some focus group tested asspull!
Wow cardboard box surfing is cool and consistently useful!
so many options! Meanwhile in Mgs3 and even fucking mgs4....

The only thing that should really hold you back is GMP and fuel resources in my experience. Even fultoning a few troops per mission will get you to the 700 (and then 1400) limit very quickly, especially if you do side missions. In the later part of the game even with the outbreak I had no problem constantly staying at max troop count.

>the best way to play TPP is the nonlethal route
Of course casuals will say this

I love the soundtrack for Peace Walker but nothing tops Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake. Its the perfect soundtrack

youtube.com/watch?v=nVS_IhkOj50

Reminder that these are the same people who then complain that DS is going to be a movie, when the only thing they care about is the plot.

Underperforming or going for lethal playstyles sets you back in GMP, heroism and resources. It's not a problem later on, but it can really slow down your early game progress.

>remembering running around like some scared shmuck from Saethralanthropussy
>remember thinking how much it does not compare to fighting a Metal Gear with an image song sung by Nana Mizuki blaring

Yes. Only in its gameplay does TPP actually get a leg up on PW, and even then I'd say its more of a calf or a thigh, rather than the whole limb.

No fucking way. It had all the same problems while being hamstrung by the constraints of the PSP. The only thing I'll give it is that the story is less obtuse, but that doesn't mean it's GOOD.

1: You won't have rocket hand, or any other memey gear or stuff that early on
2: You can clear basically whole outposts with the tranq gun since at that point guards don't even wear helmets
3: The early game ends in like two hours

No it wasn't.
The plot was just as bad, the gameplay was even more tedious and grinding was forced, plus it was clunky as shit and had the limitations that come with the PSP.
TPP is much more entertaining.
Not to mention no more shitty comic cutscenes and less cutscenes overall.

Even the story missions feel like glorified side ops and are irrelevant to the overarching plot.
My salt is more with that the game had great things going and completely mishandled them. Skullface was set up an incredible villain until he got completely sidelined in TPP. Then that retarded car ride that just makes his motives seem inconsistent and ridiculously convoluted.
Another perfect example was Quiet's ending, perfectly summing up exactly how Kojima fumbled the entire story arch for her prior to that. Why does Venom get poisoned by a cobra in that scene? He was already wounded. The scene would've been just as kino with him passing out with Quiet in his arms if he was passing out from blood loss rather than a ridiculous Deus Ex Machina that comes out of nowhere. In fact it would've had more emotional impact since it shows the lengths he was willing to go to to save her.
Instead we get Kojima relying on a pointless contrivance to move the plot into the exact scene he wanted to create rather than letting it develop naturally. The exact same thing he did for all of TPP's plotline.

Yeah, it was. PW is severely underrated game.

>PO+
>best written MGS
Isn't PO+ just MGO with the added bonus of a short singleplayer campaign thrown together at the last second? What's so special about it?

Nothing.
The game is about The Boss' secret apprentince trying to nuke america and giving Big Boss the idea for Outer Heaven.

The drones humming still tilts me to this day. There is something inherently horrifying about machines mowing people down while humming tunes.

It contained an entire plot, but TPP was obviously further developed in terms of gameplay.

If you look at them separately rather than in sequence, PW feels like it could be a simplified mobile port of TPP.

All that being said, MSF > DD

PO is better because you can play as a cute girl (and most MG characters in general, i would kill for another MG with so many characters.)

Attached: k0mdwkbbetg21.png (789x412, 601K)

For me, "MGS5" is PW + GZ + V + SurviVe
the four games follow a plot connected.

it's PO, not PO+.
PO have the story but a little less characters. PO+ have no stories but more characters.

I would probably like PO a lot more if it wasn't for the fact you can die if your stamina reaches zero which pisses me off since the game is now forcing you to speed through levels and I really like taking my time and scoping shit out when playing a stealth game.

PW had some great shit. The part where chopper shows up mid mission (the first time an enemy vehicle shows up outsside of a boss battle) and Heaven's Divide kicks in is legit great stuff.

Yes, in every conceivable way.

MPO+ was just an expansion of MPO without the story mode.
The Ocelot Cuties are not in vanilla MPO.

TPP is an unfinished game while PW is a finished game

Gameplay and maps were tightly designed, while the story was MGS-y camp as fuck. The tapes had characterization out the ass like MGS3.
TPP had tightly designed gameplay but a mediocre map, story had some good ideas here and there but was ultimately crippled, sparse and cut by developement hell. The tapes were 90% infodump about topics and had hardly any character.
PW was the better overall package.

Attached: thinking4.jpg (451x451, 18K)

>Petals of white
>Cover fields flowing in grieving tears
>And all the hearts once new, old and shattered now
>Love can kill, love will die
>Give me wings to fly
>Fleeing this world so cold
>I just wonder why...

The fact TPP, a big AAA title with 6 years of dev time failed to meet the levels of pure /kino/ from it's PSP predecessor is crazy.

this desu

Peace Walker is great if you consider that this was the first fully mobile Metal Gear with its own unique spread of gameplay features.

Beside kof made as dlc from the start, nothing of V is unfinished, just shitty choice of kojima.

>they ruined quiets theme by having joosten sing it
>sins of the father is never used appropriately
Kojima is a fucking hack

PW
>some handheld spin-off a few autists cream themselves over
MGSV
>digital representation of being kicked in the balls
I guess Peace Walker wins by default.

>you can zoom through Paz (who's underage) clothes in a cutscene and see her in her bra and panties

Top tier MGS. Couldn't be made today.

Most of PW's features were stuff that KojiPro's B-Team already implemented in PoOps.
Even if you ignore KOTF, GZ and TPP both felt like they had lots of corners cut off in terms of features. Just look at how Mother Base was presented during the E3 gameplay demos versus how it is in the final game.

Gameplay-wise, sure the TPP was a bit better, but Peace walker was way fucking neater.
Way better art direction and everything just looked cooler.
If they could have put TPP mechanics with the compressed quality of peace walker together it would be an even better game.

4player coop
food advertisements to make money on the side
New items every week (gun skins, maybe new weapons, maybe new outfits)
And new challenges. Make zombie month, suicide bomber month, velociraptor month and once you complete the challenges you roll a roulette to get prizes

Attached: 170280-doritos.jpg (620x352, 54K)

Paz is 28 years old.

>nothing of V is unfinished

Dude, Motherbase is empty and has nothing to do aside from Paz, Venom never hass any hallucinations during gameplay except for going color blid when he takes damage, Walker Gear is introduced and then NEVER appears during gameplay again. You can't even control it. Liquid and Ocelot fuck off and it's never solved, Chico was suppossed to return as the Cyborg Ninja and it was cut due to dev time, so he's killed off-screen and the hole in his chest from GZ is never explained

The absurd amount of retarded niggerfaggots that unironically care about the glorified nanomachine soap opera that is Metal Gear's story will never cease to amaze me.

Attached: 28436441_1594276923989092_4566112489816719360_n.jpg (384x384, 21K)

Fuck no.

>Script already finished in 2013.
>Only got an update two years later.
>Has everything except Kingdom of the Flies.
>Doesn't tell anything about the fucking mirror scene
>Doesn't tell the meaning about much of any scenes

Chico was cut for more Quiet.
Kof was dlc from the start,
Walker gear is confirmed cut for being "too powerful"
rest are Kojima weird choice. he had 5 years with the game, the the biggest budget of all the konami games. (not counting the engine)

Motherbase in E3 demos:
>NPCs like Kaz and Ocelot roaming around dynamically
>Animals you fulton show up there and come to greet you and interact with your soldiers

Motherbase in the actual game
>No NPCs
>No animals aside from the shitty useless Zoo

Literally the only thing that's good about TPP is that Snake controls more smoothly. The game still has way less fun shit to do than PW

>Peace Walker will always be the real MGS5 for me
The way it should be

Attached: 18j3z5x00t6nzjpg.jpg (500x281, 37K)

>battle gear is announced.
>oh thank God we get our own metal gear to take out, and we can totally use it because this is a 60 dollar triple A game and not a fucking psp spinoff game
>it's implementation is exactly the fucking same as zeke in PW

E3 downgrade like everyone does sadly.
you can actually enable some npc with the mods (like Ocelot roaming in the base, or Kaz.)

>That part in PW where The Boss AI drowns itself while singing The Carpenters and Big Boss finally throws away the bandana

Name a single scene in TPP as good as that. Fuck, the most memorable part of TPP iss the infection at the base, and it's only memorable because the soldiers hum the Peace Walker theme, calling back to better times.

The script is nothing official, it was made by a faggot on NBGO

the only mgs I played was TPP and it was some of the most boring gameplay I have ever come across. Have no idea how people actually enjoy this corny series

>Chico
>cut for more Quiet
>we barely got enough Quiet to cover even the barest bones of her story arch
>have to make do with "lol you guys are on love now so go play in the rain" instead of any proper interactions that show the relationship develop
UNFINISHED

>it's implementation is exactly the fucking same as zeke in PW
It's WORSE than Zeke. You could actually customize Zeke, change it's colors, weapons, and lookss. You could even make it look like Metal Gear Rex with the right parts.

You could also see it's weapons working by fighting against it. Battle Gear sshows sup for a cutscene and then fucks off forever and it's sonly used for Outer Ops.

youtube.com/watch?v=3DU5MXyRfzE
They lied to us.

no

This is what happen when you try to make a demo of another game that never began developpement beside this demo when you are supposed to work on another game.
Kojima was fired because he was taking too much time and doing too many weird shit with the budget

I'll say this, I can actually remember the big moments from PW.

I, for the life of me, can't recall one single memorable part of TPP.

You have the proof it's fake?

the only place this leak was linked is NBGO and here.

Legit question, why would they fucking cut stuff like named NPCs roaming around Motherbase? It's such a fucking simple concept, and would've made it far more lively. It's ssuch an odd thing to cut, specially when Ocelot is still there after the Fulton Tutorial

I remember that awful fighting fight where WOLBACHIA is in your helicopter and it crashes, so you have to fight the stupid fucking rock men who are resistant to everything and the most effective strat is either stacking explosives or QTE cheesing them

Speaking of which:
>Have a feature wheere you can control your chopper's minigun
>Not a single ssetpiece where you use it
Why the fuck is the Harrier fight when Quiet ssnipes the pilot a fucking cutscene? It sshould be a playable dynamic event that happens when returning to base after defeating Quiet.

I was going to say "for the game to run on consoles" but i doubt it's that, Survive had a shitload of things on screen and creatures 4 time the size of sahalentropus at the same time and had no lags on the basic PS4.

Good point actually. Faggot Huey makes a big deal about how battle gear is super modular and customizable and then "LOL YOU JUST GET A STATIC MODEL LMAO FAGGOT"
Fucking nigger faggot huey ruins everything. Shouldve just shot him.

Finally someone with a real taste here.

What, don't like anything other than Yea Forums, faggot?

Snake's Revenge is the better of the two NES Metal Gears.

Remember when Misssison 43 pops up on your idroid for no reason at all and then you're forced to replay the entire prologue again for a terrible single cutscene that just retcons a bunch of shit?
What was up with that. There was no build-up. It's like the game just... stopped.

Obviously the plot was always retarded, but the experience is great with how memorable and impactful many of the events are.
That was always why people liked MG/MGS. But then the writing got so awful that it started to ruin the memorable events and now we're just fucked

Fuck no

Fun fact about Survive : it literally have a "XOF Miller" (Reeve)
>similar personality about the childrens
>model seem to be a heavily modified Miller model in a XOF outfit
> literally use an unused quote of Miller

Attached: unknown_2.png (804x714, 306K)

I remember expecting I'd play as ahab during that mission and there'd be some extended groundbreaking shit. But nope, just the tutorial a second time. I have no faith in death stranding

you didn't need a hat to make that obvious, user
not gonna watch your shitty video though

The one real plot line of The Phantom Pain I felt worked was with Paz. There's actually an emotional payoff from it all that explores at least some side of the medic. It could've been better perhaps if we knew Venom Snake's character. Still, it was surprisingly well done for a plot line that was completely missable.

>food advertisements to make money on the side
This is fucking lazy development. Fuck off kiddo

Fuck no. Peacewalker is the only Metal Gear game that I never bothered to finish because it was so shitty.

tfw Survive literally had better bosses than V because V really had shitty bosses.

KAZ

If a PW remake is one day made, they should have Venom, as the medic, be the soldier calling Big Boss "Vic Boss" in the intro.

I think the fact XOF was barely in TPP was my biggest peeve of the game. They're supposed to be the main antagonists, yet you only encounter them as enemies in 2 (plus 1 cut) missions. They really should've gotten a much bigger presence. I'm guessing Zero Risk Security is supposed to be a front for XOF.

Contratians are defending peace walker of all things now? It was cool but very obviously a handheldised version of metal gear. Zelda cycle applies to all franchises

Zero risk security are just a PF, they aren't affiliated to XOF.
at least you didn't got cucked when Survive announced to add new enemies: XOF gunners...except they are still nanomachine zombies, just with guns.

How come Big Boss clearly has no hair under the bandages in the prologue?

Crazy how the wacky PSP rated T for teens title managed to feel cooler and grittier than TPP

it's venom hallucinating to see himself as Big Boss. so he see big boss as him.
I still think they should have just david hayter in the final cutscene, they could have said GZ is venom dreaming of the attack in the coma.

kinda funny since Kojima wanted TPP to be the the "NO FUN ALLOWED, ALL SERIOUS" MG.
then he decided to add dumb shit, making the tone very weird, at least it's consistent with PW. (even if it shows a very glorified version of Big boss because Kojima at this point hated solid and had a big boss boner)

>it's venom hallucinating to see himself as Big Boss
Excuse me. Was Venon supposed to have the face you created for him the entire game? Is everyone retarded?

PW's Big Boss wass far less glorified morality wise though. In TPP you save children and try to keep them away from combat zones and try to destroy all nukes.

In PW Big Boss is giddy to have Chico as his first Child Soldier, and he givess the OK to put a fucking hydrogen bomb on Zeke to hold the world hostage.

>you'll never have a Peace Walker remake with less PSP segmented design MGSV's gameplay
no, no open world shit, just tightly refined gameplay

Attached: wipe_this_meme_from_the_face_of_the_earth.jpg (479x531, 119K)

B-but Kaz says that PW BiBo is just misunderstood and had very moral and ethical reasons to get nukes!!

youtube.com/watch?v=GKomWBuEXe4
superior 70's feels

No MG really deserve a remake beside MG1-2 and maybe MGS1. and Ghost babel but this one will never happen.
a PW remake probably would be the easiest to do than the other games...They could even use the coop they introduced in survive.

PW with Ground Zeroes level design would be godly

I want a MGSV with GZ level design and all the plot stuff that it needs but never got. Would still be a mess of a story, but a beautiful mess.
Of course it can't happen now. Nothing can.

Problem is
You're supposed to write Venom Snake's character
>Author Hitori Nojima, citing an email from Kojima, explained that the player brings the story full circle in their own way, with the role of Venom Snake making the story truly theirs, and not necessarily restricted to the fate of Big Boss in the early games. Kojima and the player creating the story together "is something traditional movies and books could not do.

Considering Konami is getting better, something MG will happen , either before the end of the year or next year.
but a remake of MGS1 is more likely. MG1-2 would be kino but i'm not sure it will happen, and MGS3 is also likely even if i don't really want it.
I doubt a true new MG will happen until some times (beside maybe a MGR2)

I never even understood where the sotry of TPP could even go. Why was it even an "missing link"? Everything we needed to know was shown in Peace Walker:

>He built Outer Heaven
>Recruited and used child soldiers
>Sent troops to intervene in conflicts around the world for money
>Declared war on Zero
>Kidnaped scientists and made them work for him
>Built a Metal Gear and put a fucking HYDROGEN BOMB in it

Every bad thing Big Boss is known for doing, he did in PW. The only thing left for him to do was move his base of operations to Africa and save Gray Fox and Sniper Wolf. Alsso, it's crazy how thanks to TPP, we now have three people with the same face running around battlefieds during the 90's: Solidus, Big Boss and Venom

So that you won't be spoiled early in the game that Ishmael is actually the original Big Boss.
The Truth version of the hospital sequence still does this just to keep the suspense rising.

Well, it was done very right, Venom doesn't feel like "our" character, just as a character lacking some shit.
Even Captain in SurviVe felt more like "your character" since he had no background before beside being literally a MSF recruit.

Attached: 20190602070131_1.jpg (1920x1080, 174K)

>Well, it was done very right, Venom doesn't feel like "our" character, just as a character lacking some shit.
it wasn't done*. fucking brainfart.

>try to keep them away from combat zones
Only because Kaz forced the children away from war and Venom says nothing to Kaz, doesn't even have any fucking input on the matter, he just stays shut and silent when Kaz talks about the quarters that the children are going to go in, and the only moment he makes a peep about Kaz's plans is when he tries to rephrase and understand what Kaz said to him.

>try to destroy all nukes.
That's completely optional you fucking retard, just like shooting Quiet. Nothing says it's required unlike the Truth ending.

>he just stays shut and silent
like in most of the game, kek.

So TPP was supposed to show where the war economy from MGS4 came from, but did Kojima forget the scripts of MGS1 and 2 not mentioning ANYTHING about that?
Fucking hell, Liquid's entire plan in MGS1 comes from him feeling like the world has gone too soft and that there's not enough wars.

P.S. a lot of the decisions that Venom makes are to avoid impacting what the games before TPP already established in the canon.
For example, Venom didn't shoot Huey only because it was stated in an earlier game that Huey committed suicide by drowning himself in a pool.

Venom being a silent protagonist really did him a disservice. It also made all the other characters more boring since they couldn't have much to play off of and had to have all their exposition amongst themselves without venom being involved. Also it helped ruin Quiet's story because "lol let's try to portray a romantic relationship between two silent characters who don't emote"

MGSV simply doesn't mesh well with the series at all. I'm still sour about the XOF retcon that Skull Face was tailing Naked Snake throughout all of Operation Snake Eater and cleaning up his traces, as well as the Cobra Unit using Parasites (and somehow having them be recoverable when they blew up specifically to prevent themselves from being recovered) to downplay their magical fantastical nature to fucking organic nanomachines.

This is why i was surprised this even had the 5 on it. I mean we knew nothing of it was gonna matter in the end.
At least the presentation is ok, like it makes you feel things are important when it's just filler.

I want a Metal Gear Liquid about Liquid in the gulf war.
Remakes would be cool, but i'm probably one of the only user who want more original stories, it's confirmed have plenty of staff, and that the MG team (composed of a good junk of the old kojipro, including some that left the company before and returned, like the main programmer of MGS1-2-3 who left during MGS4) isn't working on anything known.

Attached: 20190602065855_1.jpg (1920x1080, 302K)

Kojima never gave a fuck about continuity between games.

Lessons that TPP failed to learn from PW include: online co-op, goof weapons, humor, mission variety.
Online co-op is probably the worst one. That could have made TPP so much more entertaining. In that barren world, at least you'd have a friend.

TPP is proof that depth of content is worth more than good gameplay.

my god, got multiple brainfarts, i'm retarded.
>Remakes would be cool, but i'm probably one of the only user who want more original stories, it's confirmed THEY have plenty of staff, and that the MG team (composed of a good CHUNK of the old kojipro,

Better

Venom is Alligator and the instructor telling everyone to kill themselves at the start of the tutorial.

Well, some guys were working on a MGO3 mod that use the TPP map.
and if some guys manage to reverse engineering survive .exe, they could technically add Survive shit in V, including the coop.

But since they tested the coop on fox engine and that there's actually no bugs with it, i think the next MG will somehow have a coop mode, either a bonus campaign or just some random missions.

>You're supposed to write Venom Snake's story and everything about him, including his whole character, his personality, his beliefs, his motivations, etc.
>Every path you can possibly take, and every ending you can possibly achieve is canon even if all paths/endings are canonically and logically contradictory with each other
What a shitty, lame way to express "doublethink".

Hey Yea Forums. I finished TPP a few of days ago and I have a couple of questions:

>Why was Big Boss OK with Zero creating a doppelganger of him 5 years after being pissed off about Zero creating clones of him?
>Where did Zero get the money to set-up XOF during Snake Eater if he had no money and FOX was in shambles, with the entire unit depending on Snake's success?
>Where did Zero's power to pull strings before Op. Snake Eater come from if he wasn't part of the Philosphers and had no access to the legacy yet?
>Why was he obsessed with protecting Big Boss before op. Snake Eater to the point of creating an entire shadow unit to protect him during missions when Big Boss wasn't a legend yet, and was just a random soldier?
>How did Skullface get away from the area when The Boss blew the entire thing up sky-high?
>Did Venom had your custom face the entire game?
>Was he hallucinating Big Boss' face?
>How come he was supposed to take the world stage as Big Boss if he had a completely different face?

Denuvo is in TPP/MGO, preventing reverse engineering of the executable
GZ does not have Denuvo, and Steamless support is still underway.
github.com/atom0s/Steamless/issues/20

>skull face bossfight removed for "muh phantom pain feeling"
>when the guy was a an ex fox agent, very important in operation snake eater, and had ALL the parasites

Would have been like the Genes boss fight but good, what the fuck Kojima.

>I'm still sour about the XOF retcon that Skull Face was tailing Naked Snake throughout all of Operation Snake Eater

Legit the retcon that made me the most pisssed off in the entire series. I've never been so angry while listening to an info dump. Fucking retarded and ruins MGS3.

Survive also doesn't have Denuvo, but the game can't really launch with no online (a very broken version of the game can run offline but it's very glitchy and 90% of the time don't work.)

I kinda assumed they were because they're involved in transporting the Yellow Cake guarded by the Skulls and they're the ones keeping Code Talker captive too. Also, they're the toughest of the three PFs in Africa.

>when the AI re-activates and it starts singing this song but in a fucked up manner multiple times before finally booting up properly

PO is better.

no? lmao

Did you ever regret your thoughts and deeds?

Attached: 1675745 - Humio Metal_Gear_Solid Metal_Gear_Solid_V Quiet.jpg (810x1080, 669K)

It's not a a Roman numeral 5, it's a V. The letter V. It's literally pronounced MGS-VEE. Kojima said this on twitter or something.

Let's say there's a MG announced at Gamescom/TGS/Games awards.
would you prefer it to be
>Metal Gear Rising 2
>a remake
>a new game (but not a spin off, can be a side games like PO was with you playing as another character than solid/Big boss or a MGS6/MGS0)

MG is Konami biggest IP so it won't stay dead much longer. Survive didn't do good but so did ACID1-2. they don't really care about the spin offs success. MG is even still listed for the future of the company and Korekado said Survive is far from MG future.

Attached: 1549981902443.png (400x560, 400K)

No but i wished she had more depth because Joosten is a cool person.
She was fun to play in MGO3 and fob thought.

Attached: MGO3 trailer.png (1199x475, 1.17M)

I'd love a sequel to TPP's game play but with a proper story. Don't know what they would for another main line mgs game though nor how they would do it without Kojima

Rising 2 and MG1/2 remake, I don't trust them to pull off anything else

They still have plenty of staff.including Murata, the rising writer and other guys. most of the old kojipro stayed contrary to the popular believe.
i will miss Shinkawa arts thought...but at least they still have the Rising guy (he's freelance, but in good term with Konami, he did a lot of the unique Survive gears.)

TPP's gameplay is more fluid and open ended but Peace Walker offers more content and variety, many different, unique minigames and missions across a greater diversity of places.

The co-op is excellent as well. It's a more interesting game to play than MGS V.

a MG1/2 remake would be like a MGS6 honestly, the games need changes not just in the gameplay, but the whole story and characters.
but that's fine, gives more freedom to the devs.

Its literally MGSV in easy mode.

Just passing and being the best MGO3 map.
it's a shame MGO3 died very quickly and wasn't popular like MGO2, but it was kinda flawed. FOB is somehow still alive thought so i guess it's the true multiplayer of V.

Attached: CoralComplex.jpg (1280x720, 101K)

and functionally, MGS V is just Peace Walker 2, but Peace Walker was also supposed to be called "Metal Gear Solid 5", before Konami made them change it.
They developed it on the PSP but KojiPro meant for it to be a full, main entry to the series.

A wizard did it

>more content and variety
>here is your 70 copy-pasted vehicle missions bro

Peace Walker had a much better story, and boss fights were actually interesting, but outside of that, Phantom Pain was a straight upgrade.

FOBs are a pretty neat and unique concept. I never got the appeal of MGO

Not even close. You'd have to be a super tard to think that.

It would've been if it was on Fox Engine and not a portable game, and didn't have Hayter's retarded VA.

It's kojima who made the game PW and not MGS5, because he wanted the game to be for a younger demographic.
the game was not made by Kojima at first, but the devs had trouble making it "kid friendly" like Kojima wanted, so he returned.

I still wonder of an alternate timeline where Murata wasn't threaten and actually had made his MGS4 has the director, now that the guy is at Konami without Kojima, he can finally do his game.

For me peacewalker is where the series really started its downhill slide. If I wanted to worry about resource management and base building I'd go play an autism simulator on the PC. I still can't understand why so many people think it was a good edition to mgs.

Rising 2 or a new game. I dont know if a remake is what I want at this point, but even then a new game is better since they could start fresh without any baggage. If anything Survive's ties to MGSV kind of hurt it.

I'm not a fan of the base sim shit myself, but MGSV made PW look better in hindsight and far less obnoxious somehow.

>Gameplay-wise, sure the TPP was a bit better
everything from the new engine, movement system and optimisation was next to flawless.

They fucked it so hard with what they did with it though.

They actually asked Hayter to do a different and weird voice.
Bomberman R confirmed it with him sounding good as Solid and weird again (but still better than PW) as Big Boss.
For Solid snake : youtube.com/watch?v=vH-eYLRu5cg&feature=youtu.be&t=210
For Big Boss : youtu.be/vH-eYLRu5cg?t=267

>Why was Big Boss OK with Zero creating a doppelganger of him 5 years after being pissed off about Zero creating clones of him?

Big Boss is fucked in the head and it also demonstrates his character development and how much he has changed as a person due to the events of Peace Walker.

>Where did Zero get the money to set-up XOF during Snake Eater if he had no money and FOX was in shambles, with the entire unit depending on Snake's success?

FOX had no money precisely because Zero was wasting money on clean-up ops and other such things to ensure he had zero accountability for mission failure or slip-ups.

>Where did Zero's power to pull strings before Op. Snake Eater come from if he wasn't part of the Philosphers and had no access to the legacy yet?

He had some military favors but that was it. He did not have any real power to pull strings until after he got the legacy.

>Why was he obsessed with protecting Big Boss before op. Snake Eater to the point of creating an entire shadow unit to protect him during missions when Big Boss wasn't a legend yet, and was just a random soldier?

He wasn't, at that point he was just covering his own ass to rise through the ranks. He always wanted power, the legacy just allowed him to speedrun the rest of the way.

>Did Venom had your custom face the entire game?

No, he had plastic surgery to look like Big Boss

>hallucinating

No, but he did hallucinate a few things throughout the story

>Kojima fangirling over Che Guevara
>better
He permanently damaged Big Boss' character from this installment of the series.

TPP has better gameplay but isn't as well designed as PW

1. plot hole...?
2. They get the money from the half portion of the legacy that's initially recovered
3. Personal friends with Boss and probably in cahoots with the top DoD and executive cabinet
4. Operation Snake Eater was all theatrics for the Soviet Union. They could have set it up so that Snake goes in alone, in advance, to accomplish his objectives, with XOF observing from afar and chasing behind him to clean up as a contingency and backup in case Snake were to die, on an official mission for the US government with support from the USSR. They had their objectives, but one reason for sending Snake in specifically to kill Joy was to help clear suspicions of him as a conspirator.
Snake is their man heading the "A team", with Skull Fuck and XOF supporting and chasing him as their "B team", just in case...
5. parasites
6. Yes; It's intended that he look and sound like Big Boss to the player, because you're playing the game from his perspective
7. nanomachines
8. nanomachines

Survive alternate ending was pretty cool thought and had a great link to V. youtu.be/yTVLuBQpB0A?t=211
But survive story is very weird, it's still metal gear but a weird kinf of metal gear, like ACID.

Attached: 20190403004026_1.jpg (1920x1080, 139K)

I liked that link, but for me every other tie to MGSV kind of ruined it because it couldn't allow Survive to stand alone on its own like should have, even if Konami said it was a non-canon game.
I also haven't played AC!D yet, so I cant quite comment on that, but the story is definitely weird, even when it picks up steam near the end.

He's not supposed to be the hero, especially to the west.

Somebody should ask Kris Zimmerman what was up with that.

Well, Survive is survive, not perfect and far from a main title, but i had some funs with it. like ACID1. (ACID2 however is legit a good game.), it's a spin off and so can to be different.
As for the acid games...hoho, you are on something. In acid2, there's literally a loli that hijack a metal gear (pic related), Snake also launch himself from the rail gun to escape.
It's an even more anime version of Metal Gear.

Attached: Metal Gear Chaioth Ha Qadesh.png (420x420, 242K)

Kojima wanted to kick Hayter since 3, and actually forced him to do the casting again for 4 and PW. he really hated Hayter for some reason maybe because he was a movie director unlike Kojima.

Wouldn't surprise me if he asked for the "change of voice" since Akio Ohtsuka sound the same and just wasn't replaced.

Here's the future of metal gear.
>MGS1 remake by Bluepoint
>MGR2 by Platinum
>untitled MGS by Konami

one of the first two is going to be announced this year.

Attached: AnonInMetalGearUniverse.png (779x743, 701K)

Survive is uncrackable. Nobody cares enough to crack it and it's not as simple as just patching the game. You gotta emulate the server too.

That's why I never bought it despite actually being curious about it. Games as a Service is bullshit.

No, not even close.

>Soldier grab the picture
>some notes of the paz theme from V plays in the background
eh.
If you have an xbox one and a gamepass you can play it for free, it was also free on the japanese ps+ in May (the MGR director even played it.)
I was going to say the game is going to be cheap on the steam sales, but at this point i wonder if Konami themselves also forgot about it.

you can also find a guy to give you the game in steam sharing i guess. But yeah Survive is uncrackable. game as a service is kinda shit, i think they did that with survive because your character is linked to the server but still. at least the server is stable, same for the multiplayer (unlike V.), but that's probably because the game is dead on PC and have a low playerbase on PS4.

After all those years, i still remember seeing a guy online playing as SwimSuit guy in PVP.
WHO WAS IT
I WANT TO KNOW

Attached: qz3Y03h.jpg (1200x675, 60K)

>Had a Peace Walker binge on the PS3 before starting college, met up with a friend almost every night to play sneak missions and get the best grades.

>Talked about the games we were looking forward to, around that time the trailer for TPP dropped and we were hype. Made plans to play together and continue teaming up.

Fast forward years later, graduated, still can't afford a PS4. Lost touch with my Peace Walker buddy, and TPP turned out to be complete shit.

There won't be another PW... it was peak MGS, even if TPP has better mechanics, the sense of comradery hasn't been achieved since.

Mongoose out.

Shame Kojima ditched her like he did with Hayter for Death Stranding.

I'm curious to what they'll do next (MGS6, spinoff, or a remake), but it won't be the same without Kojima nor Shinkawa.

PW is 9 years old
Fuck...already?
I really need a new MG game, Survive was fine as a spin off but it's like acid, it's not a true MG and doesn't do the same.
it's not like they can do a great MG story without Kojima, PO was alright and GB was good....i just want something damnit...
AND NO THE BOARD GAME DOESN'T COUNT

Attached: DtRbjXXWoAMCu9u.jpg (1080x1080, 178K)

Maybe she will return for MG like Hayter kek.
It won't be the same, but it can still be good.
i want the next director (probably Murata) to do his own vision of Metal Gear (while still respecting the past), i don't want him to try to replicate kojima.

I'm getting greedy but I feel an MGS1 remake should do a reverse MGSV and be 2 games in one instead of splitting.

The first part is a remade and condensed version of MG1 and 2 combined, basically retconning the double Big Boss thing. It wouldn't take from the Venom stuff if anyone cares, and I'm not sure why you would but fine, instead MGS4 can now imply the only Big Boss Snake fought was Venom in Outer Zanzibar and now there doesn't need to be a host of Patriot bullshit to explain Big Boss post-MG2 only to kill him off shortly after.

More importantly than any story stuff I just want the MGS remake to be stupid dense with gameplay to show how far we've come.

They don't even need to retcon venom.
just have big boss (venom) in MG1 to just have a different appearence, but have nothing in the game saying "oh it's venom snake" and all. He wouldn't even really talk to you since the real big boss is on the codec.
he would be presented as a boss but that's it.

>Kojima wanted to kick Hayter since 3, and actually forced him to do the casting again for 4 and PW. he really hated Hayter for some reason
Kojima and Hayter never interacted that much with each other outside one time they met after MGS1's English dubbing. Despite his Hollywood obsession, Kojima himself was never that involved with the English dubbing of the series until MGSV. Prior to that, he always prioritized the Japanese voice acting.
>maybe because he was a movie director unlike Kojima.
I'm sure Kojima is envious of the worldwide box office smash hit that was Wolves.
>Wouldn't surprise me if he asked for the "change of voice" since Akio Ohtsuka sound the same and just wasn't replaced.
Unlike Hayter, Kojima and Otsuka are actually close friends in real life. In fact, he's even working on the Japanese dub of Death Stranding and went as far as to make a DLC item for the Japanese version of Rising so that Akio would've a voiced role in every Metal Gear game ever made.

Slightly yeah but it was definitely better than portable which isn’t that bad

>went as far as to make a DLC item for the Japanese version of Rising
Not same user, but Kojima isn't the producer of Rising, he had almost no roles in it. it was already Korekado at the time.

I will never stop being mad that Mother Base in PW felt like a comfy home for soldierbros, but in TPP it felt like a soulless collection of platforms and walkways.
It's such a fucking waste.

I think we won't have a remake of MGS1 and MG1-2, and for something very stupid.
Campbell VA.
Not his english VA, but japanese VA actor.
He's dead, and japan is very respectful with dead VA, maybe a little too much. they can't really replace him. or just won't do it.

So unless they use old dialogues from twin snakes for the japanese dub (if MGS1), i don't think they will replace Campbell (i doubt they would use his PO voice actor because he sound way too young.)

So next MG either is a remake of a game where Campbell isn't here (unless they reuse the recordings) or a new game.

MSF is comfy where DD is a souless PMC of angry mens.

Yeah i love about PO it had a lot of unique characters

Wasn't that pretty much a plot point of TPP?

The real intention of that zoom in was to show her scars also she’s actually older than she looks

We wouldn't have this discussion if TPP was truly a good game.

Think about it. You're comparing a PSP game to a last-gen game.

Attached: 1429069415423.jpg (540x675, 103K)

I always thought it’s gonna be like that they gonna make some special events whatnot but they stop

Not a cyborg but skull like zombie

You guys are right, I'm probably just being a bitch.
I still wanted a more interactive base though.

Twin snakes actually have no japanese dub.
so user, it's even more of a shitshow.
Gray fox japanese voice actor also is dead (the MGS1 one,not the PO one)
so unless they replace both him and Campbell, we will never have a remake.

I mean...PW really was a good psp game.

The ending was ver cinematicly great even it was in comic book form

Not a literal cyborg, but the role of the Cyborg Ninja from MGS1 and 2.

The whole hospital scene was the only thing i remember

>youtu.be/NOaSh1-d9gc
PW wins for this theme alone and the part of the game where it finally plays.

Both, Ocelot and Gray Fox's JP voices were already dead when they made the MGS1 motion comics, but they still recast them anyway and that was made when Kojima was still with Konami. I don't think anyone at Konami who wants to make a new Metal Gear has to necessarily follow Kojima's whims.

MGSV feels more like a natural successor to PW than MGS1-4. Kojima always changed the formula to the series after every 2 game.

So I've played MGS 1,2,3,4,V, Ground Zeroes and Peace Walker.
Also Revengeance.
What do I do to get more of my tactical espionage fix bros?

I was thinking about emulating Metal Gear 1/2. Or is there another game/series that you guys would recommend?

Attached: hideo kojima [hideo kojima].jpg (643x448, 66K)

You know it would be funny if konami remake snake revenge for the switch no it’s going to third person it’s same with old gameplay just with modern graphics

>PW is 9
>V soon will be 4
We really need a new game,
100% new game or remake. just not a spin off (unless it's MGR2)
Let's hope something will be announced at Gamescom or Games awards. (i don't know if TGS would be big enough.)

Play Survive then. It's a spinoff like Revengeance but a lot closer to V, GZ, and PW than Revengeance was.

>story is better
Look, MGSV has a pretty unfinished story but making The Boss an AI thing is a real bizarre stretch, even for Metal Gear

I'm pretty sure Konami's done with Metal Gear after how rabid everyone got towards Survive.

They're not going to want to go through that again, a PR nightmare and it probably didn't even make them money.

Wouldn't say no to that and GB.
Play MG1 and MG2, then Ghost Babel
play PO if you want a MGS like 3 but a a little worse.
play ACID1-2 or survive if you want more strange shit
play Snake Revenge for dope songs and a broken gameplay.

Survive is a low budget game. and a spin off.
people said shit similar to it with acid and even Rising, didn't ended the serie.

If it was a main game, then okay, but Survive is a spin off, and not even a big one. Survive sold the same as ACID1 and ACID2.

>If it was a main game, then okay, but Survive is a spin off, and not even a big one. Survive sold the same as ACID1 and ACID2.

Go look at the comment section of any youtube video about it, or hell, even metacritic. Survive was far more reviled by both gamers and critics than any of the Ac!d games ever were. People did not seem to get that it was a spinoff and lashed out at it with a viciousness I don't think I've ever seen since Daikatana.

Metal Gear Acid 3

MGO3 has too many bullshits and they didn’t fixing it. I really wished they pull the plug already so i can stop playing it

In acid 2 you play as clone of solid snake from acid 1

It’s gonna be MGO4 honestly

There’s part of me wished konami fired kojima before he started making mgs5 so wouldn’t feel hallow by it

Isn’t there ninja in the old metal gear game? They called like black hand?

Try playing portable ops

Yeah a GB remake would be great i think metal gear should try going back to over top view

>food advertisements
You say this like its some kind of feature for the player

peace walker was extremely comfy. If it wasn't for the limitations of the PSP and had been released on console, i feel like it would have been more appreciated. Also the briefing files make for great background noise.

Thanks bros, I'll give those a try.

Attached: 1462648035782.gif (540x336, 179K)

Survive had the same metascore as acid1 if i remembers correctly
and if survive was released before the drama, it would have just been ignored, people acted like retards, not understanding it's a stand alone expansion of V since the start and was marketed as such, Korekado even said "it's not the future of Metal Gear"

Sadly, it won't happen, Konami asked the guy back in 2014 but he didn't wanted to do it yet, and now MGA is completely forgotten to the point people would shit on it like survive because "it's different".
a MGO4? honestly woudn't say no but that's a weird choice user. they can have a community without a single player game with it.

I still really like TPP, in spite of all it's flaws. Sure, the plot's a little sparse if you don't bother to listen to the tapes. And it is a pretty big departure from the usual Metal Gear style. But, I keep finding myself coming back to it. The open world is fun and the settings are different than the usual stuff we get in open world games. The controls are very satisfying and, for the most part, stuff made in the FOX engine still looks really visually impressive.

Probably has some of the best voice performances I've heard in a game too. RAD and Christopher Randolph in particular are wonderful in it.

Peace Walker is still the better game, by a big margin, but TPP is a neat entry that didn't really get to use all it's potential.

That just effects your score. Doesn't really hamper progression or anything at all. Your Heroism decreases, sure. But, maybe that's what you're going for that run. .

I really like the random conversation you can overhear at some of the enemy outposts where they talk about the "horned man who sneaks into your base and steals your men". Made me chuckle.

Attached: Fiddler on the Roof.jpg (240x240, 13K)

>Peace Walker has a dedicated firing range + killhouse training side ops with moving targets, and a point system based on time, accuracy, and the location of the hit

>TPP has a time attack target practice mode on each platform that only tracks how long it takes to hit every target regardless of accuracy or where on the target you hit them

>PW has non lethal options for every encounter, including vehicle battles where the commander of the vehicle exposes themselves to non-lethal attack options which will let you capture the vehicle

>TPP forces you to use lethal weapons in some encounters or avoid them completely, and you cannot capture helicopters at all

>PW emulates weapon caliber to a certain degree with larger rounds doing more damage to mechanical structures and staggering enemies (Shooting a guard in the leg with a .45 will force them to kneel for example [unless it's a crit] while shooting them with a 9mm flinches them)

>Enemy reaction to damage in TPP is based on how much damage the weapon would do instead of caliber; enemies will react to being shot with a 9mm pistol the same as they will a .45 with similar values

>Many PW side ops coincide or tie into the main story and add flavor, and some also have have special cut scenes attached to them

>TPP side ops bare little relevance to any of the actual ongoing stories aside from mother base soldier retrieval

Attached: 1521694390643.png (100x100, 5K)

I wasn't a fan of a lot of characters in V, especially Ocelot.
but Miller and Huey were kino. it's nice to see that both voice actor are really invested in the serie (especially RAD who is also a very good friend of david hayter, Randolph also is in good relations with him.)

>especially Ocelot.
I don't think Troy was a good choice.
It should have been Zimmerman or Josh Keaton again.
Since we hear Troy everywhere, it ruined the uniqueness of Ocelot, and the fact that Ocelot acted like a boring faggot and nothing like in the other games also reinforced that.

Attached: tumblr_n0kb8nptzc1ra53x8o1_1280.png (642x350, 235K)

youtube.com/watch?v=ppoKfEFvwm8 this scene was pure kino, RAD/Miller literally carried TPP

I didn't mind his characterization too much. Voice-wise, yeah. Baker didn't blow my mind. He had some good scenes, namely the tapes where he was interrogating Huey, but as a whole he wasn't one that blew me a way.

tfw while Huey was a complete douche and psycho, he was actually innocent for the MSF attack, and so the reason of why he was kicked was false, even if he did deserved it for all the crimes he did.

Attached: msf guy.png (229x305, 128K)

No but contrarians and butthurt hypefags will tell you otherwise. 4 and PW are both absolute garbage.

3 > 2 > V > 1 >>>>>> PW > 4

He doesn't deserve any feels. Fuck Huey.

it's not even that the plot was something amazing, it was just fucking boring. The game is bland as fuck and whats there is boring and tries way too hard to be deep, melancholic and subversive, while failing to do all of it. I just want retarded 1980s hi-jinks with snake doing crazy evil shit.

v is not going over 1 my dude, what the fuck is this contrarian bullshit?

2 = 3 > MGRR > GB > 1 > V > ACID2 > 4 > Survive = ACID1 > 4 > MG2 > Snake Revenge > MG1 > MGmobile >>>>>>>>>>> Touch > Social Ops

He was right about D-DOG.

1 has horrible gameplay and the story is pretty bad too.

Gameplay is pretty dated, but the story is far from bad.
It's the most likely game to have a remake user to prepare yourself to play it again.

>far from bad
You're right, it's awful. Then again, that's true for every MGS game.
>gameplay's dated
Course it is. The hack literally remade MG2 in 3D. It's MSX2 tier gameplay and it's unacceptable. But the critics back then were too busy blowing their loads over muh cutscenes and muh voice acting to actually critique the game.
