You can up it a little to 4k60fps or 1080p120fps, but the differences might not justify the high investment for a lot of devs. And for multiplats that run on both PS5 and Scarlet, possibly at 4k on both consoles, it'll be even less of an argument. At best one of them will struggle to maintain 60fps. But if you compromise with only 1800p instead of 2160p, no one will notice because both are so high-res.

You get a bunch of multiplats that are better played on any mediocre PC, specially since everyone jumping ship lately including Japan, and like 1 or 2 normalfag bait cinematic dogshit exclusive every year and that's it.

It's incredibly how much value consoles have lost since the 6th gen. Back in the ps2 game Sony would fund all these original IPs instead of sticking to safe formulas that pander to the lowest common denominator exclusively and you'd get an incredible amount of exclusives every year from all kinds of genres and for every audience possible.

Nowadays, if you don't happen to like heavily scripted cinematic naughty dog trash with no redeemable gameplay value whatsoever like uncharted or god of war, then that's already over half the ps4 library that has no appeal to you whatsoever. If you like games like bloodborne then that's the only one you're getting. If you like JRPGs, persona 5 was the only one worth a shit. So on and so forth. It's pathetic.

They're pretty much in the same place they were with Nokia and Windows Phone a few years ago. They want to protect or ideally extend their core business (Windows) on some form factor where they're not dominant (phones, consoles), which makes forces them to move out of their comfort zone (peddling software to customers who are locked into the windows platform) and do stuff that isnt their core business (build phones; build consoles; run game studios). They make a passable effort, but it's all a little bit unfocused and the stamina to last for the long slog just isnt there. This isn't how it works. For this gen Sony has mandates on the design and they use it for customizations just like with the PS4Pro which had a wealth of features that didn't release until later on PC and never released on Xbox One X.

The xbox has been confirmed to use hardware ray tracing so its workout a doubt using Navi 20 (2020 Navi GPU). Sony could also be using the same thing if they have hardware ray tracing. The current navi cards don't support RT hardware at all so either MS amd the AMD CEO are lying or its using their RDNA 2.0 hardware for RT.

I hate to say this, but i believe Microsoft may enter out of the console industry and be a services company on the cloud if anything. What I mean is that since Sony hasn't announced which RT their using yet you can't assume that they're not using RDNA 20 also. And since the CEO confirmed the PS5 is special it's more likely that it'll be have the better parts.

1440p 60fps is possible. But over time to get 1440p and 60fps you will need to turn graphical settings down though to keep your 60fps or turn resolution down to 1080p to get 60fps. It may be 3-4 years when that starts happening but then again like i said you would start on high settings anyways and you would then have to go to medium over time and then eventually low(which all consoles on graphical settings are usually at anyways) to keep your PC running smoothly.

DXR is a ray tracing API which requires low level optimisation hence why it's a part of DX12. Sony lawfully cannot use. The ps4 doesn't support directX it uses it's own in house low level API called GNM. They have a wrapper devs can use called GNMX which is a high level (and this causes trash performance and visuals) API which is used for directX games but no one uses it because of the reason I mentioned and hence why devs make separate directX and GNM versions of games to cater to each platform.

Yes in the sense it's the only RT API in existence as far as I know and the only one which had been co-developed with both AMD and Nvidia as their main RT API for PC. The whole RTX tech is just a rebranding of DXR. Even the RTX hardware is based off Microsoft designs but using nvidia technologies.

Microsoft recently joined the Open Innovation Network (Sony was already a member) and made all of it's patents open source and free to use by any of the other members in the consortium

Any special sauce behind DXR can be replicated by Sony completely legally

Not many pay for 800$ in their phones, usually in America we have contracts to pay the phones off for 2 years with 20$ a month. Consoles are understandable due to the fact that we want that to last long-term.

You might but others are price conscious already. A Switch pro would be great for 350$-400$ if Sony and Microsoft go 600$ or 500$.

The thing is the GPU is way more powerful and the investment is usually lower if you know how to wait it out and know which one to get. I replaced my aging 760 GTX with a 1060 6GB GTX for 230$. It was a cheap investment honestly and it was worth my paycheck to do so because it will last another 5 years on high, and if it does not do so well i just turn the graphical settings down to medium and then eventually low. It will last a long time.

No. It can't. You need a windows based OS to run anything that's based on directX hence why the dreamcast was running a version of windows. Microsoft offered directX to Sony back in the ps2 days but Sony didn't want it and so Microsoft released the xbox to fuck them off. So unless the PS5 is coming with windows there's absolutely no chance they can use DXR technologies or DX12. Theres a reason devs don't just make PS4 games with Directx today even though it would make their lives 10x easier seeing that every other platform (PC and xbox) are using directx whereas sony are that awkward child in the corner which decides to use it's own tech.

I think you missed the point of what I was saying.
I'm not saying sony are going to port DXR to PS5.
I was saying that any innovations which make DXR viable are open for sony to use in their own drivers

There's no financial incentive for a company to work on creating DirectX libraries for Linux, however Sony could stand to benefit greatly by doing it for PS5.

You've got it all wrong. Sony can't take advantage of it at all which includes reverse engineering it or whatever. If it was that easy they'd be able to copy the whole think over to GNM like it was nothing yet we know from Sony's own patents they're attempting to develop their own RT API and technologies.

PS4 UI is slow as fuck, takes about 5 minutes to load into a different menu.
